  3. Hi all, Here's my beloved Preston for sale. Everything here is my personal kit, very few times have I let it out of my sight. It's all working 100%. It's been serviced by Preston last year. The orange anodizing was done by David Hable at crampedattic a few years ago while I had David rebuild it with new parts all around : new OLED screen, new direction button, new battery clip. This is the only orange HU3 that I know of. And you will notice it has all the little extras we love : focus knob guard for Hu3, F/I unit holding bracket, battery dummy for AC power....You just need a case to put it in and you are good to go. Asking 19KUSD and I will ship it free to Canada and USA. 1•HU3 (G4) 1•HU3 rubber handle 1•HU3 focus knob guard (underneath) 1•HU3 neck strap 5•HU3 rings 1•HU3/FI dummy battery with AC adapter (crampedattic) 7•batteries (4 small, 1 medium , 2 big) ***the 2 big batteries are old, I am throwing them in but don't count them as very good, average at most*** 2•battery chargers 1•MDR2 (G4) 1•cinetape interface 1•DM2 motor 2•preston motor cables 2•RED motors 2•RED motors cables 4•MDR2 power cables (1 Arri 3 pins straight, 1 Arri 3 pins 90 degree, 1 PTAP, 1 XLR4) 4•MDR2 on/off cables ( 2 Arri 3 pins, 1 RED, 1 Sony) 1•preston motor bracket 15mm each end 1•Focus Iris unit (G4) 1•FI unit holder bracket 5•FI unit rings Wire transfer only. 5. Hi all, Cleaning some stuff : this vest was kept as a backup since I bought a new one 3 years ago. Vest is the first gen upgraded with the latest pads. It just needs a good cleaning , all the buckles work good. Needs a new home. -One of the socket bloc screw is a standard Phillips slot screw. You might want to order a new screw from Arri. This one does the job but it's a bit ridiculous to have two different screws to raise the socket block. -The 2 lower back straps are non-existent on the older vest. That's why you have the clips from the new pads but no anchor. And yes, this is the first vest out from the Sachtler factory at the time (2001), you can ask Curt O Shaller. Price is 1900$USD + shipping. Paypal only. Much prefer if you have a fedex account. Cheers. Frederic https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/fr-fr/#B0iJEsNWnJt7Qnz
  6. It's been a while I have sent my sled to CrampedAttic to have it wired so I can send 12V from a 160W Dionic in the middle position. And the best thing is I mostly use the production on board batteries from now on. Mine stay fresh in the case or just as dead weight on the sled. I just need to go into the alexa menu and change the minimum voltage thru plug (I put it at 11V) and voila. My two batteries at the back are dead weight in this picture and balance is very sweet in that configuration. I had the same problem using 2 HC's in 24V. Not enough power . Good luck. F
  7. I have had mine for a couple of months and can attest of this thing being a fantastic tool in your kit. I have used it in difficult situations and could clearly see that without the Wave , I would have asked for a couple more takes. It does not make you a better operator but does let you concentrate on the actual frame while the horizon is being taken cared of for specific shots. I will now use it for anything on a car rig , in stairs , turning sharp corners.... Since it's heavy, I really just use it on specific shots, it also makes you operate in a different way , for me , it's mostly the pressure applied to the post that changes dramatically . To put it simply, the shots made with the Wave are shots you could probably do without but would need a couple more takes to achieve . I now carry mine everywhere and put it to use whenever I feel it would help me.
  8. What Gregory said. Going thru different input profile will change the brightness dramatically
  9. Yes, But it also warns that Paralinx senders will not support Psf signal to the Sidekick. I was just unlucky enough not really considering this as an issue not knowing the F55 was only outputting a Psf signal. And to make it even difficult to be aware; I have been using Paralinx products for ages with the F55 still outputting Psf. To be clear, Paralinx TX to PAralinx RX : no Psf problems, it's a charm on the F55. It's the combo Paralinx TX to Sidekick RX that is the problem with the same camera....
  10. Hi all, Been a Teradek and Paralinx user for a while now and mostly happy with their products ; until now. We have 5 complete kits : 2 Tomahawks, 2 ArrowX, 1 Bolt 2000 . All with 2 receivers each. We use them extensively on 90 days tv series and we have good results. Now we sometime need a third receiver and when teradek announced the sidekick, we jumped on the occasion to try it out as it was the ultimate tool to use with both Teradek and Paralinx units , a dream come true.... : First thing first, you have to upgrade every unit you have (TX and RX) with latest firmware, sidekick included. Understandable and painless but still not an out of the box solution : I can't send the Sidekick on any sets last minute if not with my kits . Second, you can only pair with one device at a time. No option to "store" the channels in the memory and recall them if needed. That is an option I would love even if it meant a couple more hundreds. No can do for now. Pairing this thing with the Bolt was easy and straightforward , but very frustrating with the Paralinx ; we reached out 3 or 4 times to teradek and paralinx support and got lots of tips that would not allow us still to pair it: removing antennas on sender, making sure the units were at least five feet away ,re-flashing firmware on all units, turning off all other sender / receiver kit on set (we have four running all the time). Just as we were losing all hope, one of the Tomahawks paired with the sidekick. No clue why it didn't before. And then it happened : screen just reads INVALID FORMAT... We had to check the literature to understand the camera signal was not recognized .... WTF ? We then realize the cameras we have been using for the past 3 years (F55 with 4k module) is outputting a PSF signal when Sony menus use 1080P to describe it in it's menus and manuals. What we learned the hard way is that the bolt 2000 linked to the sidekick WILL work with the F55 but the Paralinx units (any model) linked to the same Sidekick will not work with the F55. It seems the paralinx units do not convert the signal to a P and just sends it as a PSF signal. That was it for us. The only place this is mentioned anywhere (psf issue) is on the Paralinx website . I can't believe we still have PSF issues in 2016 with new gear. Last time I had problems with PSF was back in 2013 with Cinetronic Gen2 monitors.... We put the sidekick back in it's case and reached out to the reseller in Canada called Video Link : they won't take it back because we actually turned it on and used it....after a couple of emails and phone calls , they took it back with a 15% "return fee" !!! That's 300$ ! !! So we paid and now it's gone and could not be happier. This Sidekick cost us time and money and was just too good to be true. That first "alliance" between Teradek and Paralinx is a mistake. The sidekick is far from being "universal" as promise. That feeling when you always had great items and service from the same company for years and suddenly , it just fails miserably on every level possible ? Well, that's how we feel right now on set. Fly safe, Cheers, Frederic

  12. I still have my Sachtler vest ACT1 serial #001 (bought in 2001) and now on my ACT2 bought used in 2013 : I probably have the most miles on Sachtler vests here with more than 120 days working every year for the past 7 years in every conditions . Bottom line : The vest is a tank. Never had a plastic buckle snap or a socket block cracked : just simple maintenance like changing one velcro strap and one set screw that bent once after hitting a wall. The first vest is now on a shelve and I'm keeping it for spare parts if needed. Service is great from Sachtler. I also operated in Walter Klassen vest for about 4 years and went back to Sachtler: that said, vests are a very personal item and agree with Nils that you have to try them out before buying. Cheers and fly safe.

  14. Hi guys, Geoff St-Hilaire, Montreal based steadicam op, had his Talon head stolen 2 days ago in Chambly (Quebec) . They stole the head without the case. If someone ears or see this type of equipment floating around, please advise. Thanks. Frederic
