  1. Daniel and Alan, very interesting results, I look forward to your test results with regards to powering up at a distance. This would make for a better purchase for me if reconnects are feasible after powering down just for a tx battery change at 150 feet. Good to hear the Tomahawk will produce similar results. kind regards phil nixon
  2. Daniel, I'm interested in your comment that connection times in the region of 15/20 secs, can you be 150 feet away and still connect ok in that timeframe or is it a case of being within 20 ft to connect. More importantly if it's a battery change, do both tx & Rex have to be power cycled for a reconnection. I ask these questions as a former Bolt 2000 owner with 1.5 to 4 minute connection times needing both tx & Rx units needing to be power cycled at the same time after a battery change..... Hopeless for live events working 150ft away from Rx point. Phil
  3. Mike Good to hear from you re connection issues and following it up with the chip manufactures. Would like very much to hear how the connection thing works and how the back channel fits into all this as I don't see any rf activity for the first minute of powering up. Could you talk me and others through what is occurring on power up to better understand the issues. It is true with my own tests there is a certain amount of 2.4g activity which is a little worrying given the venues I would want to use the unit in,.... Just hope this is not another issue waiting to raise its head. My Boxx system doesn't seem fazed by 2.4g but it has a 10-15 sec connection time from cold so never had to think about 2.4g as problematic. I wonder if filtering at the rx front end needs looking into here, Looking forward to your nab announcements shortly, although for my needs, multicasting (if its arriving at nab) not a feature I need although willing to be persuaded !! Keep up the good work the bolt pro could be a boxx killer very easily with some sw mods..... keep hassling the chip providers ! regards phil nixon
  4. Hello fellow bolt 2000 users. I have a question about initial connection/pairing times with your units. I'm getting 1min 30sec initial connection times.... however, frequently 2 3 & 4 min times are not unknown for tx and rx to connect. I have no 5.8ghz stuff floating around in my workshop or indeed anything that I know off within 500 yards so this is not the issue. My unit does show the searching graphic so whether an update would resolve the connection times I don't know. (unit supplied in feb) Observing the rf output from the tx, (using wi-spy 5.8ghz & laptop) nothing occurs on that score until a minute plus goes by. I'm wondering if the the first minute is spent sniffing the 5.8ghz band looking for free frequencies and then the pairing begins for the next 30 seconds. The worrying aspect about all this are battery changes .... production teams aren't going to be best pleased on a live/recorded gig if no pics emerge whilst battery changes can take 2-4 minutes. I am located in the UK so maybe that aspect is a consideration for the European speced teradek 2000 units. A further question, after battery changes how far from the receiver can you be (assuming another pair of hands available to reboot the receiver power for resyncing the units. i.e. could you be 400ft away and still able to reconnect. I have no queries about the overall range as to date I have been pre-occupied by connection times. I approached Ralf of Teradek at the london BVE exhibition but had no response from an email I sent after the event and my queries direct to Teradek have also remained unanswered. I would like to see a way of pre pairing the units and that they remain paired even after power broken and remade. Apologies for the long ramble but my experience not great in respect to syncing the units up ...... During use and temporary loss of signal I have no reconnect issues, all remakes quickly. The bolt pro 2000 are beautifully made and look the part and I can thoroughly recommend this aspect. Over to yourselves now for any issues you may or may not be having. kind regards phil nixon
  5. Just a small point the units won't accept sd/sdi but only hd/sdi .....i.e. won't accept 576i .... I should have read the spec more closely. Also the connect times for my units are more like 1m 30sec and not upto the 60 seconds as printed on the blurb.... maybe my unit is not working to spec. phil
