  1. THIS is a fascinating idea. Wondering how long it took to figure out how to arm in/ arm out by yourself?? Any tricks and tips to this?
  2. I've given away a bunch of very old bits. I used to have the steel ball-socket and T-Handle grips for the Model I Vehicle Mount Kit. You know-- Sitting down and wearing and aiming with the normal posts removed? That came with my rig when I bought it from Ruxton, LTD. in Burbank. Put it together once. So I'd know how. Since Garrett told me at my workshop at house house NOT to sit down while wearing a rig- and especially in a moving vehicle- it was an antique the day I got it. Just about everything else went to others when I sold my Frankenrig Model IIA and bought the Master Series rig.
  3. I do. Email me please ! Peter@steadicamproductionservices.com Best, Peter
  4. A problem-solving piece for the kit. The Problem: No matter what brand of rig/ arm/ sled combination, there are times when the arm blocks the upper right area of the monitor or is always in danger of tapping the corner of the monitor. Or BOTH. I've always wanted to resolve this. A while back I did. Operators seem to be finding it very useful. The A.R.M. ( Arm Repo Mount ) shifts your socket block and arm over three inches / 7.62 cm. This clears your view and stops the arm from possible tapping against your monitor. It fits every single vest on the market that makes use of the "classic 6 holes" pattern for the socket block. Below find it shown on both the Tiffen Exovest and the GPI PRO vest. The kit comes with 8 hardened steel machine screws. The A.R.M. is crafted from 6061-T Aircraft grade aluminum and has stainless steel Helicoil inserts for the threaded holes. If you've always wanted to have your arm feel like it wasn't in the way, here's the solution. They ship worldwide and are $ 225.00 USD + International Shipping costs. Customers in the lower 48 States get USPS shipping with the purchase. Email me if you want one ! peter@steadicamproductionservices.com Best to all, Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
  5. Hey man- I have one. It is not for sale, but I can surely loan it to you until you can buy one from Tiffen. Email me directly at: peter@steadicamproductionservices.com I'm not shooting tomorrow and can send it out FedEx. Be REAL specific as to what broke. The male pin itself? One of the eyebolts?? Both eyebolts? Lemme know. Glad to help out a brother. But I won't ever sell this thing- it was wicked hard to come by, and it's my insurance policy !!! Best to all, Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
  6. Every four years we should revisit this thread to update names !!! :) Randy didn't self-identify, but I do believe he's the handsome devil down front, right end of 2nd row, moustache, light jeans, beaming grin. ( That grin says, " Oh MAN. Now I'm in it ! " ) I also think that's Jeff Zachary upper right corner, last row, hands on hips, behind Ron Vidor who is in the jacket. I think that's also Alain Anesto back row center with thick dark beard and round glasses frames.
  7. There are billions of digital palmcorders out there. To me the issue isn't matching the lens of a 24,000 lens. It's just getting an image. Fairly wide- you may want to find a cheap screw-in wide angle adapter. And being able to zoom. Yeah. It's going to be easy to find these things. With wide angle kits. Finding new or good batteries? Harder !! When I worked for Tiffen, I built voltage regulators in a small box for each camcorder we used at workshops. That way, the sled powered the camcorders. It mean they had no auto-shutoff after a few minutes and students didn't have to waste time changing batteries. If the batts are a real issue, look into make the ac/dc converter that ought to come with your camcorder into a power supply plugging into your sled. :) Best, Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
  8. Why not just wire up a small l.e.d. and embed it behind the level? They draw nothing. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  9. Well. That was not amusing, but had a nice ending. Gear discovered buried, NOT in its case. A mystery, but at least Craven is taken care of ! Standing down.....
  10. I'VE got an emergency. I loaned my 10" TelePrompter and all wiring and connectors to someone and never got it back. It's in a large Pelican case. ( Well. About 14" x 10" x 8 " deep ). I need this ASAP- if you've got it, you have my cell. Don't PM here- call me. I need it back tonight !!! Doubt it left the NYC area, but I've no note as to who I loaned it to, so it could be anywhere. I'm not the one in a pinch- I'd promised it to Michael Craven, and he's almost in town- and I went to get the case and there's nothing but air. CALL ME !!
  11. Good afternoon one and all, Frequently one of us has an emergency arise. We're in dire need of a particular piece of gear. Either something just broke or was stolen or blew up or caught fire or....whatever. In the spirit of support and the kind of community many of us believe we are and always will be, I have started the Steadicam Rescue Group. As it says in the introduction to this private Group, Welcome to the Steadicam Rescue page. I’ve been pondering this idea for a while and after discussing it with both David Allen Grove and Victor Lazaro ( Admins of the other two primary Facebook pages for Steadicam ), this launches today. Here’s the goal of the Steadicam Rescue page: The ONLY posts that should go here are one of two types and the best way to articulate what the goal is is to create a post for each. 1) EMERGENCY NEW YORK CITY: Need an arm with post to interface with Tiffen M1 sled. My arm was stolen off of my cart a few hours ago. It was a G-70X but any strong arm will do. I have adaptor posts. PM me or my cell # is: XXX-XXX-XXXX 2) GEAR SOUGHT MISSOULA MONTANA: I’ve got a gig in a few weeks in New York City where I’ll be asked to use a Vehicle Mount. Anyone local to the city who can loan or rent me a vehicle mount with GPI/PRO arm socket? PM me or my cell # is: XXX-XXX-XXXX. The only acceptable replies to either post that anyone subscribing should see are along the lines of “ I’m in Billings, Montana and have a Vehicle Mount. I’ll PM you now. “ There are enough emergencies, and some needs that are planned for, that sometimes get buried in the normal Steadicam Group page that it seems this will be useful. If you are inclined to either help out in an emergency or rent some items in your kit, then please subscribe. This is NOT in any way mean to replace or supplant the Buy/Sell Facebook page for our community. This is mean to provide very immediate assistance worldwide to those in need. I will make every effort as the Admin here to remove all posts that evolve into conversations about gear. In this way, those who want to help out and/ or rent gear can subscribe to this page knowing that there won’t be a blizzard of Notifications of new posts. The only traffic on this page should be limited to the two examples above. I hope this is of use to our community worldwide. To that end, I’m going to join the European Facebook pages and Forum and any other I can find. Facebook translates readily. " This group is ENTIRELY agnostic. That is to say, owners of every single brand of stabilizer are welcome to join and use as a way of resolving emergencies, or upcoming gear needs. This is not a replacement for the Steadicam Group or the Buy/Sell Group. This is solely for emergencies. The amount of posting traffic on the main Steadicam Facebook page means that I don't subscribe to all notifies. I do visit it at least once a day on average, but emergencies demand rapid responses. If we keep the traffic limited- as I've outlined- then anyone can follow in their Newsfeed and have very little in the way of traffic hitting their smartphone or other device. Hope this is useful to all ! Best, Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
  12. Without finely honed words, we are just people with tremendous Pelican case collections. Fare thee well, A.B. !! Proud to havr taught ya, happy to know ya. It'll make a great shingle to hang out. " Aaron Brown WordSmith No fee to obscene. No phrasing too overwrought. Participles left dangling at no charge. " Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  13. Justin- I'll take it. Consider it sold- let's email off the Forum to arrange it. I can PayPal you today. Best, Peter Abraham, S.O.C. peter@steadicamproductionservices.com
  14. My first shoot. Philadelphia Zoo. 1987 :) Wish I had Old Smokey in original condition- it'd be a hoot to have to fly her now. I have an old-style long-throated magazine here, one of Larry McConkey's old set. Not an SL Cine or a SteadiMag. I'll be glad to send it to David for safe keeping before and after the day. Will that help? Best to all, Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
  15. I'll take it. Please PM me !? Best Peter Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  16. Hi Imran !!! :)Tons of things. ( In no order ) 1. Check to make sure the stage travels smoothly fore-and-aft and side-to-side all the way to the end of its range. 2. Find a way to fly the rig under load so you can see if the gimbal pans and tilts smoothly. I can send you notes on how you can clean out the gimbal without taking the entire system apart. 3. If the sled has been upgraded for more high-definition lines that is good. Otherwise you will want to try to take care of that sooner rather than later. 4. Do all power and video lines work properly right now? 5. As far as the arm goes there are a few things to look at. Please send me your email in a private message and I will send you some notes that do not need to be included here ( and are way too long ! ) 6. Buy two brand new eye bolts for the side to side adjustment on the arm socket from Tiffen. This arm is old enough that it is excellent Insurance to simply replace those with brand new ones. 7. Vest. Plastic panels or leather? The MS vests had webbing at the shoulders attached to the Fastex clasps. This is a source of crookedness in the main spar. Find a way to stiffen up so there is less flex. PM me !!!! Peter Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  17. Agreed. Hmmmm. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  18. One can buy a "T" mount for both IDX and A/B. It allows for 2 batteries to be mounted. It also gives you hot-swap, which is priceless. BH Photo sells them both. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  19. Hi All ! Late notice here- anyone participating in the S.O.A. Workshop this week who is checking in tonight- we are having a gathering across the parking lot from the hotel. There's a Red Robin bar/ restaurant there and around 7:00 p.m. we can sit and have drinks, dinner, whatever. Very informal and unofficial- just a chance for us to visit and socialize the evening before the official launch. Hoping to see participants there !!! Best to one and all, Peter Abraham, S.O.C. I won't be online much the rest of the day, email me with any questions: peter@steadicamproductionservices.com
  20. Kaze- This is a commonly accepted solution. You're adding ounces. No worries. You're raising the c.g. 1/2". No worries. Go for it !! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
