Says the man who huffs lisagav. XCS plates are $280? (maybe, i've been mainlining some antifreeze I got from Jim so I might be fuzzy on the price.)

I've got one. Used it maybe 10 times in the 4 years I've had it. It's like a weapon, hope you don't have to use it but nice to have if you do.

I'll second what Erwin has said. I don't have any plates other than the XCS anymore. Might bite me in the ass someday but I haven't been in a situation that I felt they were a compromise and 99% of the time my motors mount from the plate mounted rods. For what it's worth, I'm using a PRO D-box III. Erwin, what is the small dovetail cut into the the back of the plate for?

I ran into this when I bought a socket block for a hardmount from PRO, George told me that they,PRO, runs their tolerances tighter than other manufacturers. A little prussian blue showed me where they were and I polished down the high spots on the arm, very minor. I had a 3a arm and a 3a vest at the time, the arm fit my PRO vest perfectly when I bought it.

You guys might try contacting member Pete Dietrich, he bought my 3a and my Seitz and may still have the manuals for both.

But that's what makes the red so awesome, it doesn't need any of that stuff that's been holding us back with those darn "professional" cameras.
