I work with the DSLR cameras (5D,7D) and I use a glidecam HD-4000 with a steadicam merlin vest. I get nervous enough about the weight using those cameras with a few attachments. What I have below is almost borderline at the maximum weight I would put on it. Im not willing to push my luck.

I personally like the Steadicam Merlin Arm & Vest, but the merlin itself i passed on. I got myself the Glidecam HD4000, and I use that with the merlin vest. That way i can mount my monitor (SmallHD DP6) on the Glidecam HD4000, but i still have the dual spring arm and quality of the Steadicam merlin vest/Arm. I love the setup, its perfect for what I do. I only do HDSLR stuff obviously, and I havent done anything hardcore enough to warrant worrying about any wireless monitoring or focusing yet. this is without the mattebox and monitor. just the bare rig and camera. I'm from perth too but im only sporting a baby Steadicam merlin vest & arm. I work purely with HDDSLR films and projects. Still a fantastic unit tho.
