  1. Do you mean, What's the BFD? Just kidding. #142 (I think) is still kickin strong. Even after my BFD assasination attempts by making my own BFD cables. Thanks for a great product. Chip "not a BFD" Monk
  2. Be wary of that 4 pin Hirose. Some of the camera's aren't designed to supply the amperage out of those connectors. I think on the Varicam it's only 400mah. Fine for 2 wireless packs, but you may blow the breaker if you try to power the BFD. Robert, One solution is to use 2 adapter plates. Get and IDX to anton bauer plate, and an anton bauer back to V-Mount. The Anton Plate should have the P-tap you need. Not ideal, but it should work. Our IDX plate does have a p-tap on it. But that may vary depending on type. I guess they may not all have it.
  3. While we have bought and sold off much of the cavision stuff, the only thing that we have kept is the LW rod setup. The mattebox and follow focus were junk, but that LW rod setup is pretty good. It is also threaded at the bottom with a 3/8" hole so it works with the Arri Plate for the Pro 35, for a nice rigid setup.
  4. It seems that Lithium batteries can go for about 150 to 200 cycles, but seem to "wear out" after about 50. Granted, they're still better than older technology, they just seem to lose a little bit of that power after a while. Our IDX's used to power the Varicam for almost a day of regular shooting, now slightly under a half day, but that's still better than the NiMH stuff. Do a search for the genesis, I think it was discussed there. Chip
  5. Boy am I glad you guys suggested it first. I was gonna earlier, but I didn't want to be the "Big Idiot" who velcros my bubble level to the sled. I do by the way, and it works great. Chip
  6. Sometimes we move cause we feel it. Sometimes we move cause we're told to.
  7. Yes, but you would've had a rather small window in which to do so: the time between the release last night and the articles published this morning about how there are still plenty available to purchase at retail stores. Wow, I just looked it up. There's a ton on ebay today. Weren't that many yesterday. Well, worst case scenario is that I would have had to keep it. Darn
  8. No, but should have. Probably could have made a day rate on ebay for it.
  9. Is the cowbell position still open, or did David snatch that one up?
  10. I saw an operator out at the TPC Sawgrass. He had an EFP. He was too busy to stop and say hi, So I don't know who it was. I did see him follow / lead Phil on 18 in the final round, and he was hardwired to a handheld uplink. Got to see the work on the jumbo trons there too. Nice job, had to be tiring. He did have a golf cart, as did a lot of the handheld guys too. I'm sure they had a dedicated utility for batteries.
  11. Hi Lucas, The Mako should have come with a box that you plug into the x and y axis seperately. You can adjust the sensitivity and response times with that. We had it for a few days for a boat to boat shoot, and found some good combinations. i think it was a slow sensitivity to cancel out the vibrations, but a fast response time to fix it. Make sense?
  12. Me thinks there is an "Andrew Jansen" virus going around. I just looked it up in my Treo, and on the desktop... Phone numbers completely erased. I only have a physical address, and that will take way too long to get an invite out for tonight. Sorry. Chip
  13. I'd like to jump in to praise Transvideo, and Marianne. I ordered my Cine 3a from Derrick, and got it the next day. (needed it fast for an out of the country shoot) Also ordered some custom cables, and they were shipped same day. (Had them shipped ground cause I didn't need them straight away) You should be carefull of your comments, Erwin. You are an influential person on this board, and a moderator to boot. Transvideo has been an excellent vendor to lots of us.
  14. Abel Cine in NY has a Mini for rent, I believe. AC Inc in Nashville does too.
  15. You're right, It's like $40, but hey, when it comes to taxes, take anything you can get back. Chip
  16. Hey David, You first D-Box II is still in very good hands. :) Take Care, Chip
  17. Oh, how I love them Helicoils.... Actually, Permacoils. Life just wouldn't be the same without. Just did the clamp on the lower stage of an EFP post. And the "I" beam into the D-Box 2. Sachtler Tripod Handle The list goes on......
  18. Love the little radio shack one. it's around $20, and folds nicely in half.
  19. Ah, I was wondering if that was you, Andrew, that got smacked by one of the dancers . Good recovery. I would have smacked her back. Ha ha See you later, Chip
  20. Panavision bought out Plus 8 (I think) and are offering the HD Camera's thru them. I don't know if they would do that in LA, since both vendors are still there, but they are offering them in other markets. (Orlando) As fa as being "panavised", I'm not sure about that. I don't think they have done any modifications to them yet. Chip
  21. It was Bob Ulland. Ted Churchill used to have the inside front Cover Found it!
  22. The Low Mode Kit is probably the handle clamp.
  23. Mine was more pinging than squeaking. Call Hugo. He will walk you thru the process. I did this about a year ago, and haven't heard a "peep" since.
