  1. <_< Cant remember an SR2 with 2 11-pin connectors.........

I did see splitters: a little box with 2 exits.

Some electronic bases from the Arri 3 have 2 11-pin connectors though.

and yes, sometimes one works and the other doesn't.....

The left most port on SR-2's can be modified for an 11 pin. Some have chosen to do this because of the addition of video taps, and CE speed controls. The original port was for a speed control, I believe, but with an upgrade from CE, you dont need this. CE also makes the bases for Arri 3's.

Splitter boxes also may not work, depending if the manufacturer spent the time to wire all the ports. NINER boxes are wired for all used pins, so you can use them for power and start/stop.

    Hi Peter,

I'd love to see some upgrades that you have done. I too have an EFP Vest that the velcro is starting to become "well used". What can you do to these vests?

  3. Velcro them to a Video Receiver.

    Or to a bartech.(Just Kidding)

Put a longer wire on it with a 4 pin xlr or power tap for a sun gun battery For DV Stuff. Throw the BP-90 in a backpack.

If they are in good condition, start cycling them to keep them alive. With a 4 pin XLR they just may come in handy one day.

  5. I'm trying to change it as I've invested in a new monitor and the new monitor arm squeezes the bottom section of post together, and I don't like putting that pressure on it.

    Cheers,

    Jason :)

I had the same issue, and had my machinist drill and tap into the monitor arm and put 2 small screws vertically into it to stop the post from clamping down. They act as a spacer in there so the arm tightens down, and as an added bonus, wont spin with the screws in there.

  6. Cinema Products did ours... Oh, I mean tiffen now. Ours was originally an SK that was sent in for service before we owned it, and came back as an SK 2.

Does anybody know how I can reverse the arm without problems on a SK-1

    Bob

What part do you not understand. Flip the arm over and you will noticed what explode means. That arm has not been made to flip it over. Like i said in some posts before, give steadirig ore tiffen a call and find out what you can do.

And i did'nt hear this, it happend to me 6 years ago.

  7. Hi guys. For those of you who own your own geared Head what's a typical 3 day week rate for a feature for the following:

    Arri Head

    Mini Worral

    Technohead

    Mitchell

    Thanks.

    Ramon Engle

Would have taken $10/week on that Moy Head.

  8. Ok, who's the op featured, rather prominantly, in the folloing Times Square New Year panorama?

    Happy New Year everyone.

Edit: yeah... so obviously my brain hasn't fully switched years.. ..Doh!

Judging solely on that Skycraft sticker on the Vest, I'd say that the one and only Andrew Jansen. Andrew, next time, have them take the shot on your good side.

Looks like your sporting the whole new package too. Nice!

    Take Care,

    Chip

  9. Chip,

I'm actually headed back to Orlando for Christmas, so Skycraft may be in my future. I didn't even think of that. I remember Skycraft being on Lee Rd. Did they move or is my memory failing me?

Hmm, Radio Shack....I didn't think they'd have that connector. Ya learn something new everyday.

    Thanks for the tips fellas.

Your only 1 exit off. Not bad for being gone for so long. And actually, it's on Fairbanks..... My memory had failed me for a bit there. Give me a jingle if you're in town. We'll have a little Orlando Guild meeting.

  10. Anyone know a good place to find an "F" to bnc (female) connector? I believe it's called an "F" connector.....It looks just like the connector on the cable that you use to connect your cable to your TV. Someone please correct me if "F" isn't the right name for it. I use this connector for the input on my reciever and need to buy a couple spares. Thanks.

Yea, Sure. Cruise on over to Skycraft on Aloma..... Oh wait, nevermind. The airfare alone wouldn't make it worth it.

Bi-Tronics if you're looking to buy online. They have a great catalog of connectors and cables, and other cool geeky stuff.

  11. I never have owned anything for a CP16...perhaps you were thinking of Tony Foresta and the infamous shoulder mag for an ARRI 16BL????

Re: Whitehouse...Derrick is only doing steadicam /accesories etc.... trying to semi retire while still staying in the game. A very valuable resource he still is. (did that sound like YODA?)

    All the best,

    Rich

Ahhhhh. That's right. I thought it was a vertical mag. It has been a long time.

Wow, a plethera of bad informatiuon, I am.

    Chip

  12. well the plus side is it's film and with the new vision2 stock your doing pretty good. They are fairly light, easy to use, and quiet. However these camera's are quite outdated and not very suitable to steadicam. The mags are only top loadable and the only way to do video is to put a video camera down the eyepiece. As far as I know there is no video beam splitter for these cameras. Also they aren't many lens choices available for you because of the mount it has.

If you are looking for a more steadicam friendly camera, the Aaton is probably your best bet or slightly cheaper is the cp Gizmo.

    Joshua Harrison

Rich Davis used to have a steadimag for this camera i think. Also, Visual Products in Ohio does service and upgrades for this camera, including super 16 and video. Whitehouse AV also does service, and still makes batteries for it. They are 20v, and an odd shape.

  13. I've got a job coming up with an Elaine. I've never flown this camera and I'm wondering what connector they use for power. Is it the same as the GII or the XL? Also, is it 24v or 12v. I'm assuming 24v, but just want to have my bases covered before the job. Anything funky or different about this camera that I should know about? How's the weight? I've heard it's on the heavy side in comparison to other 16mm cameras. Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks.

Same as Ari said. 2 pin XL power cable, 24v. They do have a low mode bracket that fits in the top mag position, and maybe another steadicam part that goes on the bottom. It's been a while. I also seem to remember as a safety thing to power down the camera (unplug) to change mags. May not be an issue using a remote on/off, but something about blowing fuses in the camera if the switch is engaged.

  14. I've been using a rediculous old system called a 'flashlight'! I'm sure you've never seen one but they're very dated.

I think Bartech just came out with "Flashlight 2.0" Try to keep up, Brad

  15. Hi guys, thanks very much for all your responses & input so far, much appreciated.

I'd already searched for / investigated the ICBM, and discovered it was no longer made (sorry Jim :( ) But the Wolf Seeburg battery watcher thing looks the business Battery Watcher. Tells you all you need to know with one glance, V, A, Ah, W . Just the thing for our use I'd say.

Rob, the things you described in the 2002 archive (thanks) are like the displays like I've found already, and also look like they are quite useful (and cheap!) Plus there's backlit options too for dark places...useful. By the way, it's here for anyone interested.

I'm also interested in coloured LED arrangement, like Matt has described - I'll see if I can get something like this on the go to give me a quicker visual reference when I'm involved in shooting.

Keep it coming guys, any more help / ideas greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks

  16. One thing that you should be aware of is the power connector. I called Panavision LA and asked them whether the power connector was the same as on the 35mm cameras and they said yes. It is not, at least on the camera that we had. It looks like a smaller version of the Panavision connector, so be prepared for some possible splicing.

Power is a 2 pin Lemo. Like the XL? I believe. Same connector as most of the Pana accesories. (lens lights, OB Monitors, zoom power)

  17. I just shipped my old Glidecam package from here in New Hampshire, US to a buyer in the UK. Charged it to my Fedex account, about $350. Was told there may be a VAT and Duty charge added to it. I figured if that's what had to be done, so be it. I just checked my account online and was a wee bit surprised when the VAT and Duty charges were a combined $740 - yes, on TOP of the already charged $350 shipping charge.

Now, I'm not a frequent shipper of goods overseas, but this seems a wee bit extreme, does it not?

I'm on the verge of going postal here.

AH HA HA HAAAA!!!!! GET IT!! It was a pun!!! .....because I said postal..... and I was talking about shipping...... ha ah ugh. I'm screwed.

    Peace,

    Afton

I shipped my 3A Sled to the UK when I bought my current rig, and the charge was around $160, nothing additional. I know I shipped with some kind of tracking number, be it Fedex or UPS, but can't remember which. I think that also had insurance on it. Actually, it may not have. If you quote the value, that's what they may tax you on. If you're sending as a gift, they may not tax. Few years back, can't remember....losing brain power.....need more coffee.

  18. Gentlemen,

I own a red spring 3a arm with an EFP, and while it's fine for video jobs SD to HD, I finding that I'm starting to get a little bit of 16mm work.

    Imran,

I have found a set of Black Springs that I bought from another operator a few years ago, and never installed them in my arm. I've since upgraded to a Rig arm and no longer need them.

Let me know if you are interestd in them. It's a cheap and easy upgrade.
