  1. Hi everyone, I just wanted to remind forum members that we are running a 1 month special package for September. Your choice of the BVB07 or BVB09, the stand/yoke, the protective / removeable cover glass, and a PTap power cable....$1995 for forum members only. Thank you again for all of the support and positive feedback ... And ...good news...we're back in stock now :-)
  2. Hi Peder, Sorry about the delayed response...just now saw your request for updated pix. I just went down to production and took these of a brand new unit. If you have any questions, please call or email me any time... Best, Gary 949-465-9911 gary@bolandcom.com
  3. Hi Chris, Just back from a vaca and wanted to follow up on your post above. First, really glad you are finding the viewability in sunlight to be exceptional :-) Your suggestions on further firmware upgrades are really really appreciated. I think that offering a better zoom / "punch in" function is a great idea, as well as the ability to black out the space that is not in use outside the safe area markers. And centering the battery mount......I have suggested all to our team to get it going. One thing I wanted to mention is that the SDI signal input does loop out via SDI too, just like the other signals do. Anyways, thanks again for the support and your thoughts. I think we are going to offer a special next month where the BVB07 and BVB09 will be $1995 each (for SC forum members only). Best, Gary
  4. Hi everyone, Just wanted to give a shout out to all my old and new friends that came to visit us this year at Cinegear, and wanted to say thanks for the opportunity to demonstrate that a conservatively priced DayBrite can really be "scene" well in the California sun. Your support has been overwhelming since NAB...and we should have more models finished up and available in a few weeks!! As always....any questions? Please let me know any time.... Best, Gary
  5. Hi all, Thanks to everyone who made it out to NAB and reviewed our new models in / out of the booth. It was really nice meeting all of you in person. With regard to some of the above questions and feedback....much of it is covered by Alan above....and I think he is exactly spot on. The new level that we tried out is really still version uno. I think it needs to be made more sensitive and reactive to user movement. Also...earlier in the blog, Martin had asked about flip function (AKA scan reverse). Although it has been requested, at this point there is only a horizontal flip built-in. The vertical flip will hopefully be added later in the year, but I can't promise that just yet. All of our new models are upgradeable in the field, so if it is added, it will be easy to load the new features. As requested by James, it would not be an issue to take the speakers off the front, but we would need to make a special run with "no speakers." I could probably run production for this for around 24 units. Those of you that would be interested in doing this.....let me know and we can see about putting together a group order, maybe with a nice discount. As always...many thanks. Gary
  6. Hi Everyone, Hope all is well...and hoping to see many of you in Vegas next week. The new BVB07's for NAB are finished, so I wanted to give you some updates. We have added a digital level, a volt meter, and a dedicated 8 pin lemo input that can handle power, composite signal, and tally. There are 1/4-20 holes now on ALL sides. False color, focus assist, waveform, "ramp speed" of marker adjustability, and zoom = all made even better than the prototypes. Walter, above you had asked about the native resolution of our BVB09....it is 1280x768. To be up front and honest, because of all of the changes, we have had to raise the price a little...from $2140 to $2295. Just wanted to make sure that you knew this ahead of time. And of course, the brightness and anti-glare we have not changed at all :-) If you have questions, please feel free to give me a shout or email whenever convenient. Best, Gary 949-465-9911 gary@bolandcom.com NAB booth SL4905
  7. Hi everyone, First, I just wanted to again thank Mike, Ozzie, and all of the others that have contributed to making this new 7" model a success. A number of weeks ago, I had posted on the blog that as soon as I had more concrete information on the final build specs of the BVB07, I would come back to all of you with the info and ship dates. Today, I wanted to let you know that I should have the first two production models in my hands next week. We will be showing these at NAB (of course). And, shipping is still on track to commence in April. We have made a lot of changes to the monitor in the last 5 weeks. Some are minor software adjustments, based on feedback, that were changed/added to make operability easier for you when using the monitors in the field. Some of the changes are major additions that have been requested and now added. As soon as I have had the chance to check and verify these changes and the new additions (next week), I will again give you an up-to- date post on everything. Thank you.... Best, Gary
  8. Hi Ozzie, Thank you for taking the time to review our new DayBrite model and for posting all of your findings. I really, really appreciate it. We are already working on some of the upgrades and changes that both yourself and some others have recommended. Since these are our boards, we can make any and all changes. Some of the changes that have been suggested are easy to make. Others will definitely take some more time, and could be costly, so the pros / cons have to be weighed (we'd like to provide a high quality model for everyone at a reasonable price) . Once we have confirmed with certainty which additions can / will be implemented, I am going to report back to all of you with some concrete answers, and some firm ship dates. Best, Gary
  9. What is your feeling on Tiffen's horizon?
  10. Looks like the monitor is going to weigh in at about 25 oz / 1.5 lbs / .71 kg. Viewing angle is a full 170 x170 (H&V). Also....one of the pros testing the monitor on-set right now said that "it's off angle viewing and anit-glare are fantastic." The protective glass is removable via 4 simple screws, so in Daylight situations there is no chance of ruining the anti-reflective properties (nor fogging up). Best, Gary
  11. Great idea....! Would love that....
  12. ok...thank you for the feedback. I ask because we also have a 9" (16:9) but its only 900-1000 nts. Glad to hear that unit might also be viable.
  13. Hi Jens, Do you mean the model that's 900nts? Do sc ops consider that to be bright enough ? Also...do you all have a need for a 5" size range with 1500 nts? I've always thought that 5" was to small for sc?
  14. Hi Martin, We are not bonding at all on this one....so you have pure LCD. On the picture above, you may note 4 screw holes on the front of the cabinet. We are going to offer glass that can be easily mounted and or removed as you see fit....either for production reasons or as needed for replacement. This monitor is not waterproof...although ....I do have a friend in Florida that dropped our 8" DayBrite in salt water, completely submerged, and to our shock, after rinsing and drying it was fully functional :-) That being said, we suggest that our units should be kept as dry as possible
  15. Tally is through GPI (which has a connector kind of like a phone connector as mentioned above. And definitely no more fan...back light is LED We are still looking at the possibility of some kind of digital horizon but it's not onboard yet
  16. Yes, tally is already on board :-) Weight? To be completely honest, I sent both units out for eval so I can't weigh it right this sec (my apologies). According to some early (last week) user feedback, it's pretty light. As soon as I get one back in, I promise I will hand - weigh it and let you know.
  17. i haven't posted it to our site quite yet, but if you email me I can send you the prelim spec sheet. I say prelim because we will be making some changes based on user feedback. It does have zoom, peaking filter, false color, waveform and vector and audio meters (and small built in speakers), and will do cross conversion SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI; selectable color temps, RBG and gamma curve adjust , etc
  18. just started a new topic and added pix...TY
  19. Hi All, Just wanted to let you know that we (Boland) have a new 7" (16:9 native) DayBrite coming very soon. Anti-reflective, 1500 nts, markers, scopes, great off axis, matte finish, etc. First few models are already in hands of a few sc pros for trial and feedback. Estimated cost in low $2K range. Pix attached. If you have any questions please let me know.....? Best, Gary

  21. Thanks for the shout out Brant! Your model - HD84LDB-P, has 170 degrees off axis, vertical and horizontal. Also, Eric above makes a good point about anti-reflective coating (which this model includes) and CR. And, with an optional power reg, this model can handle between 9-36 volts. BTW - it's 1500 nts and rez is 1024x768. $500 off now due to post NAB special....
  22. Hi Evrim, Thanks for emailing me. You are using the Tiffen monitor right? That model may have similar features on the menu, but it really isn't built on Boland's firmware. Completely different company.......sorry :-( Best, Gary
  23. Hi All, NAB 2012 is rapidly approaching, and for those of you that are attending this year (especially from out of town), we would love to put a face with all the names that we have spoken with during the last 12 months. Our booth number at NAB is SL4705. During the show, and for the remainder of April (after the show closes), we will be offering an extra special discount on our premium HD84LDB-P or DHD84LDB-P DayBrite models (1500 nts). To qualify for the special pricing (a $450 discount), all you have to do is come on over and say hello... :) As always, please let me know if I can answer any questions or be of service in any way. Best, Gary
  24. Hi All- As I continuously read through the forum posts, I am noticing a number of references to monitors being used that are either not DayBrites, or that are called out as DayBrites but with a very low nts rating. As a result, I guess that you may have need (sometimes)for quality, non-DayBrite models. In the month of February, Boland is going to be offering a special $400 off our regular HD84 model. This unit has most of the same features as our DayBrite model, save for the fact that the nts count is 400(as opposed to 1500). With the SC Forum discount, the net price available for forum members would be $2295. :)
  25. Thanks Robert and Caleb. That's pretty much the sentiment that I /we hear a lot of...just wanted to be sure. We already make a special 12" jib model, and recently ran some 20" wide DayBrites for a jib/crane client. Appreciate the feedback..... :-)
