  1. It's basically a health and safety warning to advise you of how addictive Steadicam is. One workshop, and you're hooked. Beware. :-) I´m convinced!!! Hope there will be a workshop in Germany in 2012...
  2. Every time I click on thesteadicamworkshops.com on "Tiffen International Workshops" (direct link: flysteadicam.com), I get a virus warning (even on different pc´s with different anti virus tools). Can anybody approve this? Wolfgang
  3. Steadicam has been repaired by Christian Benz and his technician. Thank you Betz-Tools for fast service!!! A new bolt replaces the broken one. I hope it will survive upcoming operations. But a bad feeling remains... What if this happens again on set
  4. Saving money can be expensive. I bought a cheap Glidecam product first, but it isn't worth the money.
  5. WOW, that should not happen. I am sure betz will fix it asap. Give christian a call Wrote Christian a mail already. If I imagine this happens on set...
  6. Today I wanted to exercise low mode operating with my new Zephyr + my new F-bracket. I re-positioned the post and tried to fix it with the gimbal clamp. Clack! - The clamp broke in pieces.... :( I hope betz-tools where I bought my zephyr will fix it asap! Wolfgang
  7. Hi Brent, that´s strange! I´m using Zephyr with SD-monitor and 7D with brakeout-cable without any problems: Everythings connected and I saw pic on monitor. I´m sure youre cabling is right, but I added 2 pics from my Zephyr with cables. Wolfgang
  8. 7D comes with a cable (AVC-DC400ST). You can use it with an Cinch->BNC adapter. Wolfgang
  9. Hmmm... you wrote: "thats why it looks like its my left hand on the gimbal". That means you are operating with your right hand? Did you operate in Goofy foot?
  10. Jerrys book lies on my bedside table and nearly every day before I fall asleep I read in it. So Jerry is with me in bed every night...
  11. Hi Daniel, I´m using the Hocus Focus System with my Zephyr. I´m really satisfied with it, but improper for big lenses (too weak motor). Wolfgang
  12. Thank you Ryan and Mark! My head is spinning with all the different Lemo-connectors on the market. Tomorrow I´ll visit Betz-Tools here in Munich (fetching my F-Bracket). Perhaps they have the right cables in stock or they can make one for me. Wolfgang
  13. Hi! Want to use a wireless video transmitter on my zephyr. Just for a control monitor. I bought a cheap transmitter/receiver for 5.8 GHz. For the transmitter I don´t want to use an extra 12V battery on the stage, but want to use the steadicam battery instead. My problem: Didn´t find an adapter from 3-Pin-standard-Lemo to 12V DC. Do anybody know a supplier for such an adapter? Already tried this one from Schuricht, but it was the wrong lemo connector. Thank you! Wolfgang
  14. Hi! I´m using Hocus Focus with my 7D and I´m very satisfied. But it´s more expensive than Jag35. Wolfgang
  15. OK, he answered already: "When I follow someone on the back like 0:31, 0:57, and 1:01 always i hold glidecam in one hand. I use both when i want to change the direction like first scene or i walk around." We were all right ;-) In another post he mentioned he didn´t use any kind of software stabilization.
  16. Hi Janice, hi Kevin, I understand both of you: Before I changed to Steadicam, I used a Glidecam 4000Pro, at first without arm and vest. I think it´s not possible to run without using a hand on the gimbal, because just after a few meters the camera panned away in any direction. On the other hand, I think it´s very difficult to run so fast with two hands on the glidecam. And I don´t think the operator used any kind of antler to stabilize the rig. However, why not asking the "master" himself. I asked him on his Youtube channel. Perhaps he gives us an answer. Wolfgang
  17. Can you please explain the term "gyro caging"? Where in the video was this? Thanks. Perhaps he means the operator used Kenyon Gyros for stabilizaton. But I can´t imagine you can use this on a Glidecam 2000. Wolfgang
  18. Congrats!!! You will enjoy flying with your Zephyr! I got one too and love it!
  19. Hello! I´m using my Zephyr since August and I´m really happy with it. Use it with a Canon 7D (just for practicing). To increase the weight, I added some weight-plates from my old Glidecam X-10 (pic already postet in another forum here). Zephyr is certainly much better than X-10. But what sucks is the SD-Monitor. On X-10 I used a really(!) cheap HD-monitor from ProAm (I know, embarrasing). But this monitor had a better, brighter picture than that of the Zephyr (subjectiv, not measured). Wolfgang
  20. Well, I am a Java-Programmer and I don't use an iPhone. So it would be not easy for me to developp for OS. Wolfgang
  21. Hi! I´m going to write a little Android-App for calculating the dyamic balance (like the Excel-sheet on Steadicam website). It´s more a programming excercise, I´m not sure if anyone will use it. But you know: programmers are always looking for new challenges ;-) As soon as the first version is finished, I will post it here. If you have any suggestions for this programm, I want you to post them here. Wolfgang
  22. By the way, if you have a facebook account, theres a group for glidecam users, calles "Glidecam Users unite!". You can find many tipps and videos there. Wolfgang
  23. There are a lot of examples on youtube and vimeo. But "good" videos, made with smooth shooter, are rare. If you have a lot of action in front of your lense, like typical music videos, the smooth shooter produces relativeley good results. But good smooth shotter videos containing more difficult scenes (slow moves, lot of vertical and horizontal lines, close-by objects) are not easy to find. I found these examples: There´s a German music video produced with 5D and Glidecam (I suppose X-10): Wolfgang
