  1. Nils, very awesome read. I play paintball when some of my military friends come home each year. Woods ball, not that speed ball crap. The best/worst are the Army vs Civilians matches. They don't last too long. Nothing better than getting your ass kicked and reaping reward later. Like Brett mentions with jiu jitsu. When to move, stay, cover, which direction, huddle in, spread out, blow my cover and fire? Lots of strategic team building movements. I like to compare that with; supported via key grip, walking downstairs, don't hit the pizza box being held just under the lens, keep right and banana to avoid fudging A cam's shot, followed by a producer who knows theres video village, but "likes to be close to the action" so he shows up in the EPK footage. Painting another human being purple is a very gratifying experience.

  2. Thanks for the advice. I actually know more than I credited myself with. Just a bit worried cause production hasn't given me any answers, and things keep changing and I keep asking.

Now using ex3 instead of hitachi sk-hd1000, lens is still n/a. most likely not going with the stock lens. should be a 1/3 canon or fuji zoom, also assumption at this point.

Would like to use my Gen 1, but currently it doesn't like low mode and the signal cuts in and out once in a while.

No, I have no tally circuit in my Gen 2.

    Going wireless out via bolt.

Mite be interested in your zoom cntrl Osvaldo, keep me posted. For now, need to rent. Gotta see if I will get more work in live to be worth a buy.

I will contact Peter, thank you. Seems like a very reasonable system.

  3. I've been op'ing (sticks & handheld) on and off for some years on live events, but the cam utility always builds my camera so its just ready and waiting when I show. I haven't done much live steadicam work yet; too used to music video nonsense, industrials and narrative work. Now I'm breaking in doing steadi on a live stream and am expected to hook up my own tally light. Other option, using a phone velcroed to my monitor... last resort. Also need a zoom controller that will fit my Ergo gimbal handle.

Q:Tally light, need to rent for Aug 14th. Who, what, when, where, why and how? I do know the why. I'm NYC based. I own a Bon BPM-071S monitor with (I believe) some sort of a tally function.

Q: I also need to rent a zoom controller for either canon or fujinon zoom. Saw somthing about an N7 and ZOE 8 - 12. I've read that there is some jumper difference with the two brands or a different cable fore each. Need to rent for same date.

    Using:

    -Gen 2 Pro/XCS sled

-cinetronic gen 1 (don't plan on using. topic for another discussion...)

-back up monitor - Bon BPM-071S

    - Hitachi sk-hd1000

    - Fujinon or Canon zoom lens (tba)

Please feel free to post previous forum links; I did search with some avail. But did come across a page where people complained about plugging "tally light" or "tally" into the forums search with little results. Same here.

    Thank so mucho in advance!

  4. Actually did a 'test' yesterday, where my camera with equipet paralinx and 2nd cam with nyrius. At the end of the interview in a field, me and B cam walked away from video village and the AC laser measured our distance. I was almost 300' away and B cam landed 240'. The paralinx was much more saturated while the nyrius was quite muddy on the calibrated monitors. Biggest difference, cost. Just my 2 cents.

  5. Any hard case recommendations for an arm? I'm looking for the smallest case possible, which isn't so friendly with the natural zig zag form factor. The arm itself is all thats needed to go in; no tools or posts. Not flying with it, so it can be a bit flimsy.

    Using Silver Spring Arm.

My arm was recently thrown by a 2nd ac onto camera cart and dropped by one of those 'lemme load and unload everything' cab drivers. Two separate events, one wonderful day.

    : )

    Thanks in advance!

  6. I own one myself for smaller gigs when my magliner is simply too big for loc. I wouldn't reccomend putting a stud thru the handle to use a dock. Not because of weight (my cart supports up to 350 lbs and has air pressures tired in the back and front), but because even with a proper top and bottom shelf, the handles tend to wiggle and giggle regardless. If you have a rig for smaller cameras I couldn't see the harm in using it to transport your sled, but still wouldn't reccomend it.

  7. Here are some links I found.

I've used this one with aa batts that have been constantly used.

this one looks like it connects to skynet.

most of the reviewers on this one use this to recharge batts for church mics.

I posted this question because on set, my AC's bartech needed to be changed about 2-3 times throughout the day for a 3 day shoot. It was just slightly annoying because the store near me only sells 2 packs of 9V at about $10 each. My question should have been,' is it even worth buying one.' But I guess I'm the one who should be doing my own math, lol. But maybe I would be better off posting this on a sound mixing forum. Either way, I was just curious.

  8. Hey Ya'll,

Can anyone recommend any good 9v, AA and AAA battery chargers and rechargeable battery brands. I'm looking for one with a few slots to charge, give status of the charge, charge fast and are smart. I'd like to know what crew on set use/suggest.

    Thanks ya!
