  5. Any recommendations for a weight plate for these digi SLR's we are required to fly nowadays? Do you guys have them custom made, make 'em yourself, or is there a 3rd party making them. Do any of the rental houses offer the weights and/or low mode cages?

Opinions on a weight preference for these plates?

    Thanks for any comments

  6. I am going to have to buy batteries and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on why not to go with V-Lock. I just finished a show out of Claremont and we used the V-Locks and didn't have any problems. I still have my old PRO1 battery cage which I moded to accept the V-Lock batteries (the stacking feature of the IDX batts was very helpful).

I could mount the A/B style batteries instead and it would be nice if the batteries I buy now would work on a future rig.

Is one mount more common than the other in the field in the event that one could use production's batteries instead?

    Any insight appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. I have the AV 500 as I think most ops have that one. The cable does not start the recorder but I did make the cable with help from this forum. As soon as I purchased this unit they of course came out with new model. The new one uses the H264 codec which is a better codec. The model I have uses a propritery codec that I feel is not very good. If you wanted to put aything on the archos you had to transcode it with some open source software. I would think the new software would work under quicktime or something similar without transcoding too much.

as for the ferrite core I have some interference when using the deck - whether recording or playback. The video guy on the show thought it might help, it didn't . I'm pretty sure the problem is in the sled as I had the same problem with my GVU-5 8mm recorder

  8. A few pix of my old rig. I keep updating but HD may be the killer. It started out as a PRO 1.

I tend to use the LCD on stage but sometime if the conditions are OK I'll leave it on outside. I always go back to the greenscreen in low mode and add the 3rd battery. I went with the LCD to lose weight for video concerts and it lends itself quite nice to the LT - note the position of the gimbal. I can fly it with 4 blue canisters, although additional motors push the limit

  9. Green - Video in

    white - Video out

Red / orange - Audio in

    purple & Grey - Power

I think any of the bare wires will function as a ground (they are generaly bundled with the corresponding colored wire)

Doc or anyone have a source for the 5 volt regulator. I think someone mentioned in a different thread that a cell phone is the same voltage

  10. Rig balances quite nice, though I go back to the green screen/3rd battery for Low Mode & day exts. I switched to a LCD as I was looking to get the gimbal higher for this camera and get a lighter rig for the concert shoots.

Having a green screen for so long I find that color has it's own distractions.

  11. Call me old school but does anyone have the connector for a PRO to GV-U5 video/power connector? I disassembled mine (because of interference) and need to have it repaired but I don't know which way the pins reallign. I'm interested in either buying one or at least looking at one so I can figure out the pin configuration to have mine repaired.

Also, does anyone have a line on a vendor for 90 degree 2.5mm a/v connectors for one of those HD based recorders? I had a RCA Lyca but returned it because of the poor quality and slow menu system. Apex has a similar system out:

    http://www.apexdigitalinc.com/proddetail.a...nenumber=13&c=8

it also uses a 2.5mm A/V connector. Both systems include an A/V cable when purchsed but they are straight. The Apex features a Divx codec option which I would thing is better quality

    Thanx
