  1. I have a shoot on Wed that we need an India mount for. We're shooting a bus driving down the interstate at speed. (35-55 i'm guessing) As a side note, will antlers help or hurt going at that speed?
  2. That's cool. It reminds me of Garrett's work on Return of the Jedi. Creative fellas. =)
  3. Hi David, You can buy a P-tap to BFD cable from Jim. That's more versatile than using the 4pin on the RED, since those are used for accessories (such as a run/stop cable from Jim) =) I rent my BFD to some friends for Jib work, or just when they want the wireless option. It's worked out great. One call to him and you can have it tomorrow...or maybe day after. If you decide to make the cable yourself, make sure the polarity is right, or you'll be sending in the receiver for repair. Bryan "been there done that" Fowler
  4. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in Ooltewah Tn. =) I think you'd have a much harder time classifying an operator. If you own a merlin are you an op? Does it have to be a full size rig? Full time or part time, union or non-union... etc. I would guess fullsize operators, full time, 6,492. -- worldwide. (it's a half joke, half serious guess kinda thing)
  5. I'm learning Quickbooks. Some of my clients I give discounts to, but I want to list my full rate so that they know what they are getting. Right now I just have a line for Steadicam op, then a line for Steadicam Op Discount. Then the same with gear rental and other things. The thing is, it isn't as elegant as I'd hope for it to be. How do you guys do it?
  6. Thanks for the update Colin. Glad to know everything went well. =) Bryan
  7. There's no way I'm using a belt loop and leather belt to prevent a fall. The belt and belt loop company do not have QA, and rigorous testing, for static and dynamic falls that a harness manufacturer does. The absence of incident alone does not equal safety, no matter how long it's been done, or who it's done with. When a production wants me to do something that is unsafe, my decision to proceed or refuse is not be based on if I want to work for them again, it's do I want to WORK again. And if I need a harness and helmet to be safe, I walk over and pick them up from my bag. A leather belt is NOT stronger than webbing. Let me say it another way. Webbing designed for safety has more tensile strength than leather. My vest has nothing to do with keeping me safe. It is not used as a point of contact. Keeping safe is not my hobby, it's my job.
  8. Thanks for the review Chris. I'm in the same boat. Looking for a sled to replace the old EFP. What monitor did you spring for?
  9. Hey Scott, What's the cycle count for these D90s? Thanks
  10. Thanks Charles! =) Yoshua, I had Tiffen make my cable special for my EFP. How do you power the monitor? You said you connected it to your powerbook. Actually, I think you should start a thread in monitors. Not that I don't want advertising for my monitor, but you will get more help if you recreate this thread there. Good luck though! Bryan
  11. That's a good question Yosh, I don't know the answer. Does anyone else know if this will to PAL and NTSC?
  12. I've had this monitor for a while, and haven't used it much at all. It was my backup monitor, but I have a new backup. It's SD, and has a custom cable for the EFP to supply power and video. (6pin Hirose to the Flyer Multipin) Recently for a shoot, I made a custom cable to supply power, and video using the Flyer's multipin. I'm asking $425 for it. + shipping International buyers are fine, if you pay for shipping with tracking. It comes with: Monitor Flyer to EFP cable Flyer to 4pin / composite video cable (sorry for the crappy photos, if you want more highrez email me and I'll retake them with my brain engaged) for more photos, Visit My Whebshite For fastest response, email me directly.
  13. I like it. The changing of band members is what I appreciated. subtile, but captivating. =) Who is the op?
  14. Having it in that position on the bottom gave a nice guide for my arm to fit in, thus keeping my form solid. That being said...yeah.. them things were HUGE!
  15. I think it was the Marshall guys. I went to look at theirs as well. I was in a hurry, but I remember him saying there was backlight, but only 1/10th of the "normal" LCD. Maybe they don't require it, but can use it? Either way, it looked very good. It seemed that every OLD that I saw had crushed blacks, but I didn't try and mess with the controls, because I figured when I went to buy one, they would be better anyway. At least I hope that will be the case. Or.. I could be full of it. =)
  16. Nelson, it was great to meet you. Thanks for the smiles and nice words. Come back next year and hang out again. =) Bryan
  17. I found Lattes and Cashews to work great for me.
  18. Thanks guys for the advice. I trust you dudes more than the Amazon review people. I think I'll get the Quickbooks Flavor-aid. =)
  19. My accountant suggests us using Quickbooks for mac. I was fine with that until I saw all of the horrible reviews on Amazon, and other sites. Can anyone recommend software for the mac that would be a good investment? (I know I can run parallels and Quickbooks PC, but I'd rather not do that)
  20. Erik, Thanks for the confirmation. I'll stop trying now. =) I did get this several years ago, so I'll have to contact T and see what they can do for me. Thanks again! Bryan
  21. Hi, I have a shoot that is with a 35mm adapter. I'm using my Flyer monitor because the Cine3r is in use elsewhere. With the flyer monitor, I can flip it horizontally, but not vertically. The UP/DOWN flips it, but doesn't mirror it... ugh. Basically, when I hit [MIRROR] - [ON] nothing happens. Can someone else confirm that I'm doing the right thing? I never received a manual with this, nor have I had to flip it before. (I know I can just turn the whole thing upside down, but if that can be avoided, that would be great.)
  22. Hi Nick, Yeah I am, but it's sometimes a challenge. I have to find someone that's willing to ship to Tennessee AND has a good price. Usually they just want a local buyer, or their price is pricing for a NEW case, and theirs doesn't even have foam.
  23. I'm looking for 1450 and 1500 size pelican cases. Or nearly equal in quality. I'm looking in the used market because I'm looking for a deal. Let me know if you have some you don't need. Thanks
