Mpeg Streamclip is a great app to convert a DVD or VOB file. AVI in DV codec should be great for editing in Premiere. http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html You can also de-mux it into elementary mpeg2+ AIFF if you wat to stay in the native code

Also make certain that the vibrations doesn't originate from the dovetail to camera coupling. The slim Clipper/Archer dovetail can be a bit tricky to get totally solid, and if its not, vibrations are showing in the roll axis, which are pretty obvious...

Ok, he just updated it to say below 84W, and even lower of course if shooting to CF with no viewfinder or LCD. Maybe Mr. Hill should add power pins to his docking bracket. Just dock the rig to switch to PSU. Watch out for those rainy days...

According to Jarred Land, their 14.4v/140Wh battery runs for about 70-100 mins. on the RED ONE. That would be around 5,8-8,3A at 14,4v if my math is correct....

Yeah. I flew one a few months back on my Clipper II. We had the video top, but on the day of the shoot, no time to change it over. Still managed to ride ok. In this shot the post was fully extended (3 sections) and that was a bit prone to vibration. Did a few shots at 150fps. Really surprised about the added inertia by the revolving film spools....

First, be aware that all brand items are grey imports. GMP is not a licensed reseller of any of the brand names. Thats how they get their low prices. Of course this means that they can undercut any official reseller, you have to choose if you like that thought or not. Having said that, I have ordered a batch of their no name LI-ION batteries a few times. (Thru, www.globalmediapro.com) They have an ok user support (For an internet reseller) No problems what so ever. They have a danish bank account where i transferred the money, and the delivery was swift. I know a few persons that have ordered HDV cameras from them when HDV was in it's hayday, also no problem (with delivery that is, HDV suck big time) Feel free to skype me if you have any questions...

Just came back from a shoot today, my first one with a 435 ES. I have the Clipper II 12v, but have done a 24v mod thru the Gyro connector (The same way as mr. Konash) I currently use cheap 160Wh Li-Ion cells from GMP, and with my mod use two pairs of two batteries (Two paralleled in series) Well I'm happy to report that it reached 150 FPS no problem, and lasted all day without changing a single battery. (Mainly 50 fps though) While the G50 was at it's max lift, it still performed great. At the end of the day the booster cells were still at 100%, the rear ones were at 20%, The voltage was still around 30v. I think Ill try just a single lighter booster cell tomorrow.

Yeah, just a joke of course,. I tend to use a damp cloth on the exterior and occasionally applies Corrosion x to the bare metal to keep it fresh. No Turtlewax involved....yet :-)

What about viewing angles? Better than the Hummingbird or the ultrabrite?

Just a bump here. Any news on the disassembly guide to the G50 and G70 that Garret mentioned? I got the nice lube diagram, but it would be reassuring to have a guide handy if something critical should happen in the field or just when doing the weekly cleansing and waxing...

I was just wasting time on youtube the other night and came across a steadishot I havent seen since I was a kid. It's from "The magic of David Copperfield" from '89. Now, the last time I saw it, I was more into the magic stuff than how it was photographed. I can only support the claim that the G50 arm works as advertised: reliable and smooth over it's entire range. In my experience you will have to put more effort into perfecting your stance, footsteps and moves, when flying the light rig. It gets very delicate.

More importantly they have a G50/Flyer arm clone as well Hmm....No ride control but the geometry control seems to be there, and the max load is limited to 20 pounds. Tiffen might want to get their legal department in gear....isn't that iso-elastic master arm patent still valid?

yes, although the sensor area is only about 9mmx7mm then. But for closeups and packshots it looks stunning. I have seen some debayer artefacts in some of the samples.

There is one unit here in Denmark. Rental is $2500 a day, operator included (Mandatory) Sensitivity is 160 ASA, so you need a lot of light. There is a PL mount, but even at full frame (1280x1024) the image area is only 15x12mm , and therefore has a "cropfactor" when compared to 35mm. The max framerate is 950 FPS in 720p (cropped) , 650 FPS in 1280x1024 or 1130 FPS in SD (Cropped) The system consists of a camera head and a base unit (computer), they are connected using a fibrechannel cable. The camera head has 4GB of high speed footage ram which equals 3,5 sec recording time in 1280x720 at 950 fps or 11,0 sec recording time in 720x576 at 1.130 fps. When you have made a shot it can be previewed on the base unit, by streaming from the head. If you want to save the shot you then download from the head to the baseunit at full res. This takes a while 10-15 min. When done you overwrite the RAM by mking a new recording. You frame using a normal B/W videofinder. Dynamic range is limited because of the used highspeed CMOS bayer imager. but with controlled lighting it looks pretty stunning. You can program ramps using a built in jog controller, and the camera will keep the same shutter opening time for equal exposure throughout the ramp.

Will, havent used the Wevi but did read the spec sheet. Personally I'm still using my 1.2 GHZ analog link. Any audio delay line box should be ok, just set it to 380 milliseconds and the audio will be delayed the approx. 10 frames of the MPEG-2 codec. The Behringer is about $80. It's 56 mm x 88 mm x 130 mm, and comes with an external PSU. Should be possible to adapt it to a AB mount though...

The Wevi Cam-Wave is a IEEE 802.11a device, so it's around 5 GHZ. The dimensions are (WxHxD) 100x170x60 and for both Tx and Rx. Weight is about 400 g I believe the price is around $2800

:rolleyes: well, there's nothing like being corrected by the man himself.....

From reading the specs, the viper and flashmag's are are 12v with a combined draw of 72w. I would go for some good LI-ION batteries like the Dionic 90, as there is no great surge, just a continuos draw. Even one D90 should be enough to drive both, as that's rated at 90w max. Two D90 bricks in parallel 12v should last a around 2:20 hrs.

When you adjust the lift on the G50, only the the attachment point of the spring is changed. The spring tension is constant. It's called the "Geo" knob for Geometry. I always put it at about 80% of Max when I'm done on a job, as it's way easier to decrease the lift than increase it when you adjust for a new camera.

Note that while it do say 3000mw that is the total powerconsumption, it is actually 1500mw of Transmit power.

I have had my G50 for a while now, and the main bolt heads are beginning to show rust on the surface. Any suggestions on treatment? Performance is fine, but it looks odd, and I have heard that it's the look that matters these days :-)
