  1. Thanks Nathan! Its rough dealing with the bank. They just don't seem to understand. Thanks again for the info. It's appreciated.
  2. Awesome! Great information guys. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to help me out. William to answer your question the best I can, I'm looking to upgrade my system. In order to do that I have to take out a loan for the gear. When talking to the bank and figuring out terms I discovered that I needed a certain length of loan to be able to keep paying my bills and make sure I can pay the loan amount even when times are slow. In order to get that specific loan, they said any kind of literature or proof that shows that the system won't be completely obsolete in a year or two would help my case. I thought the best place to turn would be to the experts. This site is excellent and a wealth of information. Thanks again! Hope that kind of gives an idea of what I'm looking for. You guys have already been a huge help already.
  3. Thanks Alan! I'll have to pull a few examples from there. I also grabbed the thread that is talking about the oldest arms in use today. All great stuff. Is there anything from any manufacturers that talk about how well the rigs hold up over time or something similar?
  4. Hello all- Looking to find a bit of literature on how and why steadicams are able to hold their value over the long run. Anyone know where I might be able to look? Thanks! Ryan
  5. Ran the Amira on my Zephyr last night. Flys great! Incredible camera and image! Had a power cable made from Terry West and was able to power not just the camera from my sled but also the follow focus (single motor), Bolt, and my monitor. To do this I added the extra battery hanger to power whole sled with 24v. Flew very well. As well as it flew, it was near top of range with the added matte box as far as weight goes. I'm also pretty sure I was pushing my power range as well. Hoping to upgrade my system starting next year. But all in all a good run.
  6. Get the additional battery hanger and power Amira 24v off the sled. Terry West can make you a cable. He does great work.
  7. When I took my first 2 day course we briefly talked about rate and what I was told was more of an equation. I was told the rental rate of the gear should be 1% of what the gear cost. Then the day rate should be what the cost of a local camera operator in your market costs. This is what I've been going by. The operator was a 25 year veteran and known throughout the community. Would you guys agree or is this flawed logic?
  8. Fantastic! Thanks for the responses. Can't wait to see a final version soon.
  9. Does anybody know if the sled will have a 3rd battery hanger option? Much like the Zephyr accessory? Thanks!
  10. This is an amazing thread so far! Can't wait to read more.
  11. I'm looking to upgrade my rig by the end of this year/beginning of next. Anyone have any idea if it'll be close by then?
  12. So if I'm reading this right, if I turn in my original Bolt, HD-SDI, and pay an additional $500, does that mean I can get a brand new Bolt Pro 2000 HD-SDI system?
  13. Has anybody heard if they've speculated a price?
  14. Wow. I certainly can only speak for myself, but for me it is an honor that the more experienced ops on this site share their stories and pictures of past jobs. It helps me to learn an incredible amount. Just wanted to say thanks.
  15. Hey Tom- I too am a Steadicam operator from Wisconsin. Milwaukee in fact. I have taken two different workshops. One with Janice Arthur and one with Peter Abraham. Both excellent teachers and operators. I can't thank them both enough. Taking a workshop is the way to go to becoming a great operator. I'd take one a year if it was possible money wise. With that all being said I would definitely reach out to some of the Chicago Steadicam ops. I've met a few of them all very knowledgable. Otherwise when the weather warms up we might be able to get together. I've only been operating a couple years, so I don't think I'd be right for teaching. But I can help watching form if that would help. Safe flying.
  16. That's it! Thank you so much Mr. Demeritt. Really appreciate you taking the time to post the shot also.
  17. Hello fellow operators- So I have kind of an odd request. I'm trying to a specific shot from a movie and the operator. I've only seen the shot once on the internet and I'm not sure how to find it again. I apologize if there is a better way to search for something like this. This was the best way I could think of after searching the internet. Here is the best description I can give. Its a long oner that covers several floors of a building, which I believe is suppose to be a police department including an elevator and escalator, and finally ends in a morgue looking at a body. It involves two detectives I believe and an older female (Unfortunately I don't remember any of the actors/actresses names). I can remember bits about the shot. Sometimes when they would round a corner the female would walk straight and the detectives would course correct her. There was also a substantial amount of dialogue, mostly from the female actress. That's kind of all I can remember. Any help is appreciated. Looking to add the film to my library. Thanks again. Safe Flying. Ryan
  18. This is a great spot. Loved it.
  19. I'm also afraid of flying and I'm convinced I'm going to die during every take off and landing! Small world.
  20. Victor that's exactly what I'm looking for but the whole setup, most importantly does it include the piece that actually attaches to the receiver? Bryant is be very interested. Could you PM me with some pics and details including price? Thanks guys. Really appreciate the responses. Guess a few different terms in the search engine would have done the trick.
