  1. Hey all, Couldn't find what I was looking for in the search function. Was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a new "L" shape mounting bracket for my Bartech receiver? Thanks in advance.
  2. Looking to purchase a Bartech Digital Follow Focus system with Heden motor. Just looking for a single motor system. Thanks. Ryan
  3. This is a great thread. Learning tons and enjoying the stories. But, Frederic, that story with the pic is epic. Thanks everyone for sharing.
  4. Chris- I can see you've taken the time to answer my question from the other post. Thank you very much for doing so. That post alone has taught me quite a bit about talking to the producer about rates and the job. Regarding rates then, is there a standard rate among the veterans? I feel that the cost of living is cheaper where I am, so my rate probably wouldn't be as high as an Operator in LA or New York, regardless of how long I've been operating. But maybe I'm wrong in that assumption. I feel that my rate should be based on where I live and what DP's/Camera Operators are making in my area. But again, maybe I'm missing something there? Thanks again. I love this community and all the people willing to help out in it.
  5. I am a newbie, but I have a question regarding what Rob just said about rates. When I started out in the grip world, I came from a place of great respect for guys who had been in the industry for years. Because of that I didn't feel right asking for the same rate as them. Why should I, a person who has only been trying to be a Steadicam Operator for a few months, ask for the same rate as a veteran of 10 or more years? I just don't think it is fair, but then again I don't want to undercut anybody either. Any advice on this issue would be helpful. Thanks.
  6. Ordered mine as well. Anybody know how long after it is ordered that it actually gets shipped? Thanks.
  7. My head is swimming with info. Looking forward to reading the reviews of the bolt from other ops on here.
  8. I own a Zephyr. I would never even consider flying an Alexa. I know what sled I bought. Maybe someday I'll upgrade but until then I'll just pass along those jobs to other operators.
  9. I agree with Matt. Janice Arthur makes some great quality pieces and very fair prices.
  10. Someone may correct me here, but I don't think the Zephyr is beefy enough to be able to handle a tilt head. I could be wrong but I think it has been discussed on the forum before. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
  11. Still for sale. Lowering price to $2400 or Best offer. Thanks again
  12. Jess- I'm actually selling my Switronix Recon Ultra. Been on set twice with it. Love it but want something a bit smaller for my Zephyr sled. But I think it is a pretty nice piece of gear. Worked how I expected it to. Ryan
  13. I just dealt with this issue a few months ago. Same exact piece and sled. Had to go with a cord that has an in-line regulator. East Coast Cables hooked me up well. I highly recommend using them to help with this problem.
  14. I'm selling because I own a Zephyr rig. It's just a little bigger then I was expecting with my weight restrictions. Going to look into something smaller if possible. Thanks.
  15. Hello all- Looking to sell my Switronix Recon Ultra (V-Mount style). Basically brand new. Bought a couple months ago and only used on set twice. Works great. Asking $2800.00 or best offer. Please PM or e-mail me for more details. Thanks again. Ryan Brooks ryanbrooks05@gmail.com
  16. Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. I come from the grip background and we have a different definition of local. So for the Steadicam world I need to re think the word "local". But I'll definitely reach out to other operators to get an idea of rates.
  17. So, I'm very new to this as well. My question is how do I set my rate in my area that has no Steadicam market? I am trying to create a market here, but I also don't want to set a rate so low that it is offending other operators and under cutting them. But I am certainly in danger of setting it to high and never getting a single gig. The producers and DP's haven't ever had a regular Steadicam operator in the area, so how do I get them to put me on a gig without scaring them off? I'm not so much asking about a price, more of how to market myself to show the value of the Steadicam shot? Thanks for the time and help.
  18. I've had the Switronix Recon Ultra on several shoots now. The feedback I have gotten is the picture is rock solid. Biggest downfall is the distance is only about half of what is advertised. Other then that, it seems to be working well so far. Brooksy
  19. Thanks again for taking the time. I just bought a new Zephyr system and right now I am using the fasteners that came with that system. Eric, thanks for providing that link. I will definitely look that over and it should give me some more search terms that I can use to do further research. Again thanks. Brooksy
  20. Hello all- I am very new to the Steadicam world. I have taken two 2-day courses (totally worth the time and money investment) and recently purchased a rig. I have been reading the boards a lot and can't seem to find the answer to my particular question. It is possible I am using the wrong terms, if I am I apologize for this posting. I found when I am building my rig I am very nervous about the 20lb camera being held onto the top stage of the rig by a single screw, especially in low mode. Is there something I am missing. I never thought to ask my instructors about this at all. Is this fear silly? Did I miss something and there should be more holding the camera to the plate? Thanks again in advance for the help and I appreciate you taking the time. Brooksy
  21. I have been interested in Steadicam for years so I decided to take a 2 day workshop, without ever having put on a Steadicam. I enjoyed it so much that a couple months later I took another 2 day workshop. I would have gladly paid double the cost and I can't thank the operators enough for the knowledge they have given me.
  22. Wanted to thank Tiffen, Full Compass, and Mr. Peter Abraham for coming to Madison, WI and teaching the two day course. Very much appreciate it and can't wait to start flying. Ryan
  23. Is it possible to still get a copy? Thanks in advance. Ryan Brooks ryanbrooks05@gmail.com
