  1. What else can you expect from illiterate scum whose only duty is to run behind a ball...if he wasn`t so lucky to end up on the lawn he would rather clean toilets today. Asshole.
  2. Hope this guy is fine. Did look like an awful fall, cool reaction from the athletes, though: http://youtu.be/z15T0m59hCw
  3. Saw it earlier today but sorry, whoever ordered him to do those movements was nuts. Not only does it look dangerous but I can`t even imagine how messed up most of that shot must look like, especially where the sled is almost horizontal.
  4. How does it compare to the German Movietech Arco, at least it looks almost the same...
  5. He did an insane work on T2...the Steadicam choreography he did there is still best of the best...and that with 1990`s technology...
  6. "Unfortunately" for them it just took days for others to either figure that out or just convert the existing technology they already offer.
  7. Interesting to know! But if I get this right, then only that little portion where the camera is looking down the house is Steadicam, the rest is either hand held or (on the jump) head mounted. I also recall Kathryn Bigelow saying that she wanted an image with a "human motion" but not as smooth as a Steadicam.
  8. I wonder who wrote the description of how that shot was achieved, AFAIK it`s completely wrong, I even remember the making of, it was a tiny 35mm camera fitted to a helmet and that cam had a very short magazine, that`s why they had to cut very often. They had a head up display, too, which came from Lightstorm, James Cameron`s company, Muro used that thing before on some Steadicam shots of Terminator 2 when he had to walk down some stairs while facing the camera backward...just saying...sorry for the OT
  9. I think the 3rd axis may be the issue when going overslung, these motors don`t have that much power since they are gearless - just guessing, but that`s probably something Andreas may be able to answer.
  10. Until today I found over one dozen of movi alternatives, everybody and his dog seems to build one - but I`m not very convinced of the Defy rig, there`s too much blah blah from them and the images are not always "steady" - the guys from"besteady" are seemingly a few steps ahead, also "offering" remote controls. But I think it`s best to wait a few months and watch how the motors and electronics perform after rigorous usage.
  11. P.S.: you don`t "need" two operators - I`m sceptical how this will be working in the real world, but on some rigs there`s a special mode - Freefly calls it "Majestic Mode" on the Movi where the rig follows the operator`s "input" , it can be preset how quicklyit responds but as I said, I`m not sure if it`s really gonna work well or if you´ll miss your suject too often.
  12. This system is not really out in the field yet and everybody here starts to get crazily mad at it. Face it - swearing at a machine is not going to change anything. Additionally to the Movi I have seen at least 10 other companies building similar rigs and people from everywhere seem to wet themselves over it - it`s quite hilarious. I`ve seem any sizes from Gopro stabilizers up to one which could fly an Alexa M, and there it got interesting, that guy obviously struggled with the weight of it, so we can safely assume that bigger cameras can`t be fitted without an Easyrig or maybe a Steadicam vest and arm but then it`s losing some of it`s main benefits like small size and little weight. But the almost endless possibilities of these things in combination with lighter cameras make it obvious that lots and lots of producers will push it`s utilization, wherever it may be possible.
  13. ...is that a joke? a regular follow focus?? and then all that mumbo jumbo about a stripped down red one?
  14. On Terminator 2 Jimmy Muro refused to operate on that helicopter flying below that overpass on the freeway, so he did it - on True Lies he couldn`t stand the thought of letting the others have all the fun and operated out of a helicopter while the hired operator had a paid break on the ground...
  15. He tried it at least once.. ;) http://www.transvideo.eu/en/node/338
  16. I don`t know if it was Apple who started this nasty fanboyism dreck, but it`s getting more and more awful, it`s getting common between users of "camera stabilizers", different 3D and compositing software packages or even followers of tutorial websites (!) but the Red fanboys are between the masters of this young "art". There is a hard inner core that defends Red even if they mess up big times and the paranoia Jannard is spreading is imcomparable...

  19. 15000 Dollars - love this thing but should tire your arms very quickly...
  20. Steadicam ops obviously have a very short attention span :D
  21. seems like now is the perfect opportunity to stock up with smoothies and iphones and get rid of the damn heavy Ultras/Pros+Alexas/Epics/F65s - the future has begun...
  22. I got a quote from my local reseller on saturday and some additional infos on delivery times etc. regarding the Exo - but as I don`t know how official and final that information is, I would like to ask those in charge about the current official state - and please, dear friends, don`t pm me about those details, as long as Chris doesn`t chime in I would rather not like to spread stuff that may not be 100% correct...
