  1. I am keen to hear some of the responses to this thread but I'm thinking its more of an Elephant in the Room vs. a White Elephant!! I am a new owner of the Cinetronic 2, it seems to be a very solid build and if they can sort out the software issues listed here it will remain a valuable monitor to have. IB
  2. Thanks Mike but I only need the upper and lower boxes. IB
  3. On the lookout again for SD PRO upper and lower electronics - PM me if you are upgrading to HD and looking to sell the SD parts. IB
  4. Sean, I've noticed a change in the last few years as well. Some local PM's are so eager to cut corners thinking that eliminating the Prep day makes them a budget Hero. Really it just costs them more in the long run with potential on set delays and the loss of general goodwill towards the Production. I always insist and have only had one PM refuse, I've never taken another gig that they were PM'ing. IB
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles Amando. I had 13 months of rehab after a bone crushing Motor Cycle accident in the late 90's. Both my Fibula and Tibia were shattered by a car making an illegal and unchecked U turn from an outside lane. Although I eventually won in the courts and and got my career back on track I spent a lot of time in misery, both physical and mental. On many occasion I resigned to selling the rig just so I could feel like I was moving forwards again and getting prepared for another career. But I stuck to the dream and kept working hard on getting better and stronger, and eventually I was back in the rig and more excited than ever to be doing what I loved. I still have a reminder every time I go through airport security as I've got some large hardware in the leg but otherwise it never bothers me. I expect that perhaps some related pains will flair up as I get older but so far I been blessed with 15 years since the accident and hopefully I've got at least 15 more to go!! All the best in your recovery, IB
  6. Hey Dennis, I went through the same dilema a few years ago, what to do with my old AB batts? I came up with a useful idea for a few of them. First I split open the cases so I could dispose of the cells properly and then I cleanly cut off the flat portion of plastic on the AB mount side. I now use these flat pieces to mount different accesories to AB mounts. Using 3M Dual Lock you can firmly attach just about any acccesory to the plastic AB mounts. Just a thought if you can't find another use for them, IB
  7. Years ago when I first joined the Forum I suggested this - I thought it would be beneficial to know what gear everyone had to assist in knowing who and where help might come from if you had problems or questions about the same equipment. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3249 Looking back at it now I see that somehow where I lived was more important that what I owned? But regardless it's still not a bad idea. If there was a more detailed field for describing our Stabilizer in our profiles we could at least put in the major parts we own then those that have questions could search out others with the same equipment. IB
  8. My first reaction to a poncho is that there would be too much loose material hanging that could potential interfere with the sled. I've always used a cheap XXXL Rain jacket that I've cut a hole in for the arm. IB
  9. Answer from Lite Panel The MiniPlus DC jack is: 1.35mm ID, 3.5mm OD Center positive You can use 12 volts to 18 volts IB
  10. Thanks Tom, I'm only interested in the SD upper and lower electronics IB
  11. Thanks Victor, I'm waiting to hear back from them, I'll post the answer if they respond or whenever I have a chance to measure myself. IB
  12. Thanks Afton, I have a great set of digital calipers that come in handy for all sorts of things - however what I don't have right now is the plug to measure. Good idea about using the interchangeable Radio Shack system. I start a new job next week and was hoping to have the cable ready by then but if not I'll borrow a cable off of the electrics first chance I get and take the measurements. IB
  13. Does anyone know the size and polarity of the DC power jack on the mini-plus lite panels? Every now and then i'm asked to put one on the rig and the electrics don't always have the D-Tap cable. It's time to make my own!! IB
  14. WTF? Osvaldo kindly offered you some helpful advice in selling a piece of gear you are obviously having trouble finding a buyer for and this is how you reply? Keep up the good fight Kevin, your strategy is sound - keep lowering the price!!! (yes that's sarcasm!!) IB
  15. I'll be away on a job for a while so can't use parts any more - at least until November.... I'll repost then. IB
  16. If you upgrade your PRO II to HD I'm interested in buying the old SD parts if the price is right. Iain Baird
  17. Blackmagic makes an SDI to ANALOG converter. I saw it in my search before posting this but the ANALOG part threw me as I had HD on the brain. Having now read the specs I see that it will suit my purposes just fine. Good size and price too. IB
  18. I'm about to replace my UltraBrite 1 and I'm hoping I can use it as a semi-portable Directors monitor. I say semi-portable because after putting all the accessories together it will need it'll be kinda bulky, but I'd rather find a use for it than admit how much it has depreciated since purchase!! (especially painful since they released the HD-SDI version 2 not long after I purchased my version 1) I've been able to source out all the pieces I'll need except a portable HD-SDi to HD component converter. I've found analogue component converters but nothing for HD to HD. Does anyone know of a company still making them or a brand that has since been discontinued? Cheers, IAIN
  19. Tiffen Garfield mount with Mitchell plate adapter $400.00 US + Shipping & Handling. This mount can also be attached to grid pipe with proper sized U bolts (not included) Iain Baird
  20. I appreciate that the CUBE is NOT appropriate for live viewing. I am not looking to use it for these purposes as I have a zero delay system already. What I am hoping to learn is would the CUBE satisfy the needs of those who are not concerned with sync!!??
  21. I'd love to have the Boxx system but I've owned an HD Camwave transmitter since before the Boxx was available. Although the Boxx is obviously far better than the Camwave I've never been hindered enough to justify the expense of upgrading. And now that more and more rental houses have the Boxx system it seems less likely that i'll need to invest in anything better. What exactly were the problems with the Cube? Was it the delay or signal loss? IB
  22. Although I'm not yet sure I'd rely on the BOLT for the main signal, I am interested in the CUBE for this very purpose. It's the kind of equipment I think that could give you a rental bump above your kit rate (which seem to have swallowed up my HD transmitter like they swallowed up Prestons years ago) and I do love the toys. There are two Cubes - one that has the wifi router built in and one that relies on an external unit. I think for streamlining the system I'd likely be more interested in the combo unit. IB
  23. They claim a much lower frame delay, but like I said I wouldn't think it appropriate for those who need to hear the sound with picture anyways. But for the technicians in the peripheral who like to see what we are shooting to keep on top of their own responsibilities it seems like a functional tool. For example Makeup just wants to know if we see #1 or #2 in a closeup, props is only concerned with their toys, etc, etc - for those that just want the picture only I don't think the frame delay would be of any concern. IB
  24. Has anyone used any of Teradek's other products, more specifically the Cube for monitoring shots on an iPad or iPhone over Wifi? Although I'm not sure I'd want to rely on it for transmitting to video village it does seem like the perfect device to get the image to all those crew who are still using their UHF devices. IB
