The orientation of the photo seems to depend on what browser I use to view this page. In safari on my MacBook the picture is upside down but In safari on my iPad Mini the picture is right side up. Both versions are STILL for sale.....

BTW the design for this plate would be on file with Taku @ Walter Klassen's shop. It has tapped holes for IDX and AB battery mounts that keep the battery centered on the back and whichever battery mount you are using hides the holes for the other mount.

I now have three very good monitors and I only need two.

My SmallHD is best as an Operators Monitor and steady backup and I've grown to prefer the features on my Transvideo XSBL so the GEN 2 is the odd man out.

The monitor does not come with a Yoke but does come with both an IDX battery plate and AB plate. I had a custom back machined for the monitor that both battery plates easily screw onto. The new back is slightly thicker than the stock back to allow for the threaded holes for the battery plates. All the input labels are etched into the back plate and it weighs pretty much the same as the stock plate.

I'm selling the monitor and level for $3,500 US plus S&H (I'm presently in Ireland)

I've just ordered a BOLT 2000 and when it arrives I'll be selling my single channel BOLT PRO. Exact timing is unknown - I'm hoping mid July. The unit will come with ONE Hot Shoe mount and ONE D-Tap power supply. It currently has the latest firmware with metadata and fan control.

I'll be selling the unit for $2,000 US plus S&H. I'm presently in Ireland and if the unit doesn't sell by Mid Oct I'll be back in Toronto.

More and more AC's are mounting small monitors to their HU's. I made this little adapter bracket that allows you to easily attach and remove what ever system you are using. The 45 degree attachment point keeps the setup a little tighter to the HU as well. I think it will only work with an HU3 as the battery would likely get in the way on the 1&2.

I have an ultralight ball bracket I'm going to keep on this piece permanently. I don't have my kit with me at the moment but i'll post some pictures of the setup next week.

Here's the finished bracket, unfortunately my MDR3 has gone ahead of me to location so I won't be able to post photo's of the two pieces together for at least a week.

The V-Mount shoe can rotate 4 different ways in each location and the Bracket can mount with the L on the top or the bottom of the MDR3

Here's the bracket with a 15mm mounting option attached. The 15mm piece can positively mount using a locating pin 4 ways in each location as well.

I'm not sure about pricing, my only interest was building one that worked for me. If anyone is interested please contact Taku or Jen at Walter Klassen Designs.

My mistake, your concerns were large enough to bring up on the forum, I assumed you would welcome any assistance to alleviate them :)

 

Yours seems to be performing worse than what I've seen, that's why I suggested contacting Josh. If you wouldn't use it as a main due to day bright visibility performance (or lack of), then yours doesn't live up to the hype. It definitely won't match the Gen2, but it shouldn't be so far off as you are suggesting, based on my experience comparing Josh's DP7 with my Gen2.

Any knowledge is always welcome so I'm sorry if I seemed dismissive. I'm not sure where I expressed concerns but perhaps it was lost in the syntax.

In my limited comparison I wouldn't say that the DP7 is miles behind the Gen 2 but theres still a gap between the two in my experience.

Ian, you bought the HB right? I assume so, but worth asking. The SB and OLED won't compare. The HB will never be as viewable as the Gen2, probably not even the Gen1. The DP7 is more reflective and loses viewability more easily when not looking dead on. I still think it's a great day bright steadi monitor, just don't expect it to match the cinetronic on that level.

 

Check in with Josh Gitersonke, he's done lots of testing and may have some thoughts that could help you out.

Yes it's an HB. So far I have no issues that need any help - I was just pointing out that even though they are both rated at 1500 the view-ability is far from the same. It wouldn't make the worst backup but I wouldn't want it at my main monitor.

but if I had to I'd still choose the Gen 2 for my Sled. Knowing I'll always be able see my frame overrules all.

Can't see your frame if it changes inputs or shuts down in the middle of a shot though, I don't care how bright the picture is.

 

Couldn't agree more, it hasn't happened to me yet - but reading your accounts of a yet another issue to worry about certainly refreshed an anger I've directed at my purchase a few times. I've had a good relationship with Chris Bagma but I've been far from thrilled with the Product.

BUT......

I really want him to succeed and I suppose have endured far more trials in the process then I would normally deem acceptable under any normal circumstances. On a thread a while back I referred to a list we all made up describing the dream monitor for our Steadicam needs which Chris had endeavoured to produce. Cinetronic is a little guy with a little market but yet swung for the fences. Gen 1 was pretty good apparently, good enough that Gen 2 was born. Gen 2 has been software disappointment, and some hardware issues to boot. But now theres a Gen 2 HD so the progress has continued, hopefully a PSF solution is around the corner and the buttons won't be so sensitive to water on the next build - but these all take time. Sure there are big companies that might beat Cinetronic to the punch but will any of them care about YOU, the Steadicam OP? Not likely, they are building an EVF that they hope you'll buy. So as much as I hate the problems that come with it I like having it on my Sled and hope in time it catches up with the dream we all once had.

I just bought the DP7 last week - I'm very impressed with the build, the software and the quality of the image. I've been using it as an board operating monitor, I'm working on a portable handheld monitor setup and I'm trying to put together a practical way to use it as a FIZ mobile monitor. But for whatever reason that I can't explain beyond the basic anti refelctive variable, it doesn't come close to the overall view-ability of my Cinetronic Gen2. As has been well discussed the Cinetronic has failed in a few important departments and the DP-7 in my limited experience has lived up to all expectations - but if I had to I'd still choose the Gen 2 for my Sled. Knowing I'll always be able see my frame overrules all.

This may be a device designed around the same principle but I hardly think it's fair to call it "The SAME system for way less" unless you've tried them both and can attest to the quality of each.

There are many Steadicam systems that cost WAY less than what I own, I would't say they are anywhere near the same though, as there are many focus systems that cost WAY less than what I own, and again ...... well you get the picture.
