  1. I bought this in August with the idea of buying piecemeal parts in order to make a Pro sled. I have recently re-thought my strategy, thus this is going up for sale.

In perfect condition, perfect to put an anton bauer base on a pro I sled.

    $1200 O.B.O

  2. I was Chris's 1st on the feature he mentions. To add to the conversation, here are the formats the Recon accepts (as listed on their website):
    1080p: 23.98psf, 24p, 25p, 25psf, 29.97p
    1080I: 50I, 60I
    720p: 24p, 25p, 50p, 60p

The camera at the start of the show was at 1080 23.976P as normal. I then tried 720 60P and 1080 29.97P with slightly more luck, but still not the 75-100 ft Chris says he gets on Alexa jobs.

If anyone has a MD-DUCC in Atlanta and wants to try out different framerates and resolutions and see what works the best, I would be (and I am guessing Chris would as well) game.

I did this for SYTYCD live. ( this video is from rehearsel) Try'd to beat the dancers. ( god i love this job )

And yes, going live is a hugh rush, that gives you more power. The only down size is taht liveshows are getting longer and longer these days. When i do The Voice of Holland, we have 14 songs, rehearsel them 4 times a song ( 56 times ) and going live the same day in the evening for 3 hours ( with commercial breaks ) its getting very hard.

Wow. Very impressive. was that Don Juan as well?

So I know this is a composite switch, but this is my thought:

Composite video requires a 75 ohm connection just like the SDI protocol and, over such a short run (and isolated from power) as in this box, cable shielding shouldn't be an issue, thus it is just a standard 75 ohm coaxial switch. It makes sense to me that it would work.

  5. HDMI does have different standards (versions, most of the time now-a-days you see 1.3 or 1.4), but most of the time they merely adopt new and crazy resolutions and frame rates (like 4K and 3D stuff we don't see).

I have run into the issue of having certain HDMI devices not like it when a decimator is outputting PSF (although the decimator PSF is actually identical to i, just in a different wrapper). There is no standard for PSF over HDMI that I am aware of, so that is the only place I have been tripped up.

One advantage to the "handshake" that HDMI does is that the receiving end will sometimes tell the sending end what type of signal it can take.

Though for the most part the whole "handshake" thing is an annoyance in time. Oh well. Consumer standards being annoying.

  6. various SMPTE standards

    It's way more confusing now.

One of my favorite things is how everything has similar (and multiple) names as well (Component, Composite, CBVS, video, etc) and how connectors are used for various signal types. I can't tell you how many times I have been on set and video village is down and it is because a camera intern has plugged the SDI feed into the "Video" BNC input. It makes perfect sense, but doesn't work at all, haha

  7. Great post William.

I know I am still "new" here, but if I may add to it:

all devices that say they accept HD-SDI won't necessarily accept all HD-SDI signals: There are several different flavors and standards of the signal and older monitors may not like the newer signals (if you want to get really nerdy into the various SMPTE standards, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_digital_interface#Standards ). This is most evident in cameras such as the Epic (mainly the Epic, actually) that outputs 1080/23.976P not PSF. I have run into several monitors (namely older Sony and JVC ones) that will not display the Progressive signal. If you run into this issue and need to have the image, you can change the camera output (either on the camera or through a box such as the Decimator Design MD-DUCC) to 720/60P, as this is defined within the old standard.

Just thought I would weigh in since I have run into the problem before.

  8. J.P.

Did you order your unit direct or thru a dealer in the US ? I'm very interested in your review of the system since I'm waiting for more info from them on stock and pos ordering myself a two motor system.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kurt

As far as I know you can only order them direct through RTMotion.com

There is quite a lead time with them right now, I think they are backordered through the end of the year. Talke to Kris or Leslie at rtmotion.

I am going to a local rental house today to test how the motor works with various stiffnesses of lenses.

  9. I got my RTmotion single channel system today. I am going to do more intensive testing tonight, but just based on my first impressions I am very happy. The whole system feels very solidly built and (at least in my system) there is no delay in turning the hand unit and the motor turning.

I will post more thorough thoughts once I have had a chance to use it in the field.

  10. Understandable. If you don't need the composite output, the MD-CROSS is much more powerful. That being said, the Decimator 2 will most likely do everything you will ever need it to do. I had a MD-DUCC, but traded it out for a Decimator 2, which does everything I need (even the scaleable HDMI out for something like the brite-view airsync HD)

  11. What type of lemos are you looking for?

I just need to connect to the power output on the Scout. The manual lists the female as EGG.0B.303, so I think the male would be FGG.0B.303?

I'm not worried about the wiring/soldering, just physically mounting the plate.

    Thanks.

Alright, well. It doesn't look like there are any cheap options on ebay unfortunately. But mouser has them: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=0b+303+fgg

  12. What type of lemos are you looking for?

I have found a lot of lemos on ebay for super cheap. I recently got 6 FGG.0B.302 (the bartech power size) for 30 bucks and 5 FGG.2B.306 (red one power cable) for 25.

as long as you know what you are looking for, you can find some good deals.

As far as the battery plate, it is possible, but unless you are really comfortable working with wiring and DC current, I am not sure I would recommend it.
