  1. Mark, thank you so much for that information! I have been searching the internet for hours trying to figure that out! Colin

  7. I have found this topic very helpful as I have noticed that my sled is off balance when I spin it 180 degrees on the pin. I have contacted Tiffen, but if this is something I can fix myself I am willing to give it a try. I have googled "spanner driver #6" but the pictures of the item don't look like anything that would work to take my gimbal apart. I have an original Archer and it looks like I need a giant screwdriver for the screws on the side, and a open ended wrench to unscrew the top. What does a #6 spanner driver look like and where can I get one? Any help is appreciated. Colin Donahue
  8. Rob, I can't seem to turn it or feel that I am turning it. As soon as I put the screw driver in, the gear it jumps all over the place, but it does not move in a consistent direction. Colin
  9. I was trying to re calibrate my focus travel on my Stanton and I can't seem to get the screw to turn. It is plastic and I am afraid I might have stripped the head. For anyone that owns one of these, what size screw driver do you use? I called Stanton, and they said to use the same size as the one for zoom calibration. I have tried that screw driver, but I can't seem to feel it "bite" on the screw. The motor jitters when I put the screw driver in, so I know I am at the screw, just can't feel it turn, and the focus gear will not increase travel. Any help would be appreciated. Colin Donahue
  10. I am looking for a weight cage. I know Janice Arthur has them . I just wanted to check to see if anybody wanted to get rid of theirs before I purchase from her. Colin Donahue
  11. I solder all my HD BNC cables. Never had a problem. Why would that make any difference....especially a negative one? Afton Grant Afton, I know this is a year old, but I just rewired my sled and it was an ordeal. My original plan was to solder all connections, but I was having trouble with the connections not working properly. I took it to Tiffen and they pointed out that the core of my RG 178 cable had about 3/8 of an inch exposed and unshielded where it was soldered to the BNC connector.. They said unshielded should be 1/8 inch or less. This makes for a little more difficult soldering for me. I then decided that I wanted some flexibility if i took it apart so I went with SMS connectors threaded on to a BNC. Used RG178 cable. This presented more problems because I needed two crimpers, for the sms connectors. and one of them cost $800. I ended up running all the wires myself, then had Tiffen put the connectors on and crimp them. It was about $95 Colin Donahue
  12. I am rewiring my Archer and I want to wire two AB plates in parallel. I have purchased a couple of diodes but I am not sure If I need to put them on both battery plates or just one. If it is just one, do I put it on the battery plate at the end of the power run or the one in between? I have researched quite a few posts by guys who have done this, but can't seem to get this straight. Any help would be appreciated. Colin Donahue

  17. After seeing a few others change out the lemo on the top stage of their Ultras, I decided to give it a shot on my original Archer. I have not hooked anything up yet because I am still waiting for the screw on connector for the back of the bnc. Since I have basically the whole sled taken apart, I was considering a wiring upgrade. It appears that my current power is carried by 24 awg wire, and I thought about replacing it with 16 awg. The problem is that my power lemo at the stage is an EXG 0B. It is only rated at 6 amps.... so will fatter wire (16 awg) be of any benefit? I tested a piece and it will fit into the connector on the board. The other option is to upgrade the power lemo at the stage. Right now it is an elbow that is connected to a board. I could possibly unsolder it and put in a larger one, not an elbow, but what would fit? would it be worth it? I have not had any power issues, but I have read on this forum that 24 gauge wire could present problems. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Colin
  18. I have broken 3.... But no cost in repair... Armando, I am not totally clear on what you are saying. Have you been able to fix the three you have broken? Colin
  19. My LX vest is 8 yrs old and breaking down. The plastic is broken right where the buckle is attached on the shoulder on each side where it hooks into the front section of the vest. I see other people have had problems, but I am not sure if they are the same as this. The entire back of the vest is plastic with fabric sewn over it, so I think I would need to replace the entire piece. Any ideas of how to repair or replace this? Colin Donahue
