  1. In the last 28 years, I have tried them all, Kenion Gyros, Antlers, Helix ect. I think the market for something like the WXB will be huge, it's shocking to me that Tiffen has killed off all of it's own technology to compete with gimbals. Even the best of the best operators will find their horizon a bit off in a fast pan or aggresive move, I think that Tiffen would be pursuing a product they could offer to the thousands of ops that really want this?
  2. When I see an F65 on this rig, sign me up. For now the Zephyr is a lot cheaper and more versitile.
  3. Hey everyone, I know this is a old conversation, but I have to tell you all that I fly the Alexa, BFD and Super Speed primes on the Zephyr often. It is totally doable and very smooth, it actually loads the arm perfectly and comes in at around 18lbs with the Teradek on top.
  4. In SF, JCX has more Kinoflo stuff in stock that anyone, but DTC is a close second and sell Dedo's too.
  5. That would be JCX, Janet is the owner and she is super flexible and she has sold and crewed many features and primetime episodics, Gasser's tends to be a bit pricey, but they actually rent an SK system. I think the Band Pro in Burbank is you best bet for SF customers, it is a cheap quick flight on Southwest and you can demo in their showroom, I would go this route if I was making a major purchase.
  6. I would consider the Mk-V lite lower stage, this is the direction I am going and it will future proof your rig
  7. Peter, stop by the Red One booth and ask if you can fly their cam on the flyer, Peter Jackson used Steadicam on their test movie. I wonder what Steadicam model he used, this camera is the star of 2007.
  8. I did the Claritin spots with DP Gil Cope witn the swing and tilt rig prepped at Clairmont. The rig added allot of weight to the Moviecam Compact and we had 2 prestons controlling it, there were marks on the floor where I had to "park" the post over when the lens move happened at the beggining and end of my moves. Swing and Tilt went through a fad phase for a while and it got overused in Ads, but the effects in the Claritin spots were beautiful. I had to clamp 2 Mayfers to the lower post to balance all that crap, so I am glad S/T lens on Steadi is rare!
  9. I saw 3 Ops, the two ops in the end zone looked drenched and busy. I did not look like that fun of a gig but hey, The Super Bowl is the Super Bowl.
  10. He won it for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, I thought that was the sequel.
  11. I have friends at ILM that have worked on dozens of the biggest blockbusters and are not on IMDB at all, one of my freinds won an oscar for Pirates of the Carribean 2 and you can't find his name at all.
  12. I want the 24V feature, but do not need the super expensive HD monitor. Can you order a stock Flyer with just the 24V upgrade?
  13. Typically, the AC's build the rental package and scratch test, then the Steadi op will build up with his assistant in the afternoon at the rental facility. So, to answer your question, one day is the norm for prep.
