  1. You don't have to be fancy, you can use a pipe clamp of some sort and mount a battery plate to it then clamp the assembly onto the bottom rod. The 1/4-20 at the bottom is sketchy since it's a single point of contact.

Doesn't the aero bottom rod have threaded ends for merlin weights anyways?

  2. Anyone want to add onto a parts list? I've started a google docs with links to some of the most common spare parts

antennas, collars, bolts, low mode pins, etc

    It's shared and editable

I'm not aware of any other resource and this one is rather short, but would love to see collaboration or links to better sources

  3. I've debated whether or not to write about my experience with the SmallHD 703. Obviously, I have decided to write about my short time with the monitor. I received it on Monday and took it to set Tuesday morning. Camera was outputting the usual 1080 23.98 PSF we have been using for years. There were 6 other monitors on set, none of which have ever had any issues. Two Sony 17" OLED, two older TVLogic LCD, and two other SmallHD 7" monitors.

Unfortunately, the 703 displayed horrible ghosting delay and interlace looking tearing.

It was unusable for operating or pulling focus. Only static images appeared normal.

I promptly called SmallHD and they offered to send me a replacement or refund.

    I opted for the refund.

I am still a proud owner of a SmallHD 702 which I also pre ordered and have never had any image issues with.

I have seen this issue when cross-converting a PSF signal with my 702, were you running it through any sort of converter?

  4. Used Steadicam Scout

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/735268-REG/Steadicam_SCBXSDBVFA_Scout_Camera_Stabilizer_V_Lock.html

Comes with original monitor (still has plastic covering on the LCD)

    Arm

    Vest

    Docking Bracket

Plate can be either AB or VL, I can swap it out upon request

Excellent equipment for anyone starting out or looking for a small rig for smaller camera work

  5.

That is exactly what I was going to do with 15mm rods xD

Did you find it made the rig better than before? I am pretty new to Steadicam (as in actually learning the thing properly).

The limited stock bottom stage is just not working for me atm so was looking into doing this (pretty much exact) mod.

    Thanks

    Jack,

It's a more flexible system with rods and dbox. However you definitely lose out on max camera load since you can no longer easily drop your sled's center of balance (hinged arm lets you put batteries near vertical and super low) and because you will have more weight on the bottom with the rod and plate setup you'll use.

That said, 15mm rods just look more legit. Period.

  6. I have a Steadicam Pilot VLB v-mount setup, composite kit.

Like new, has never been used on a job. Everything is shiny and pretty, vest and bag are almost immaculate. Gimbal super smooth. Springs beautiful and chrome still.

Comes with case, sled, monitor, vest, arm, allen tool, docking bracket, spare parts bag, manual.

Cash money or also willing to trade. Particularly looking for high bright monitors and maybe a bartech (analog is fine)

  7. I've had this same issue on Late Night With Seth Meyers a while back. Slow mo, no picture on my DP7 HiBright, No picture on my DP6. I ended up shooting it looking at the top monitor...

I had a similar issue except that my monitor did get video signal. However it became disabled on wireless video feed. Switching back to 23.98 re-enabled the wireless video. It either resolved itself after a couple of reboots or changing the output frequency fixed it, can't remember but it worked....

  8. I wonder if that means that the "A-30" can carry more than the suggested 30 lbs? It would be unfortunate for you to have a crippled zephyr as in previous posts it seemed that the zephyr sled with monitor and battery will not weigh 7 lbs and be able to balance a 23 lbs camera package. Have you checked to see what the max your arm can carry is?

If the A-30 arm is the same or better than the Zephyr arm....then the Aero-30 is going to have a higher payload capability than a zephyr, which would be weird no?

  9. Which one is the direct from manufacturer version? Are they the connex kits?

I own multiple sets but they are the direct from the manufacturer version. Also have some of the 150m receivers that are small and have internal antennas for directors handheld, focus puller, etc. The difference is Tilta rehouses them. The channel dial on mine uses a tweaker which I like better. The Tilta knobs get loose. Signal is great and almost no reconnect time. They consistently beat the bolt 2000 and Tomahawks in range and signal stability. Many shows with them now and not one day of trouble or down time. I have used mine together with the Tiltas and my transmitters talk to the Tilta receivers and vice versa. Keslow bought lots of the Tiltas.
