  1. I have to say that I have had a lot of issues contacting Tiffen these past weeks. I too ask question on the forum prior to contacting the company. It gives you a sense of how spread the issue is and sometimes how to fix it without sending the rig back. Past that point it is true that before asking a question. I tend to read every available literature.
  2. I am using a Blackmagic HyperDech to record what I shoot, as it has a HDMI out that converts the SDI signal, the Arrow made more sense to me. On the receiving end, you can use a SDI converter (or I am looking in using a passive HDMI to DVI to plug it to the Panasonic 17" monitor, haven't tested it yet)
  3. You can look for a Zephyr or a Flyer LE if you want for this price...
  4. Went with the Arrow as well as my main market is Red Epic which has a unused HDMI plug, avoiding me to chain too many components on the single SDI. Plus on the other hand I can either convert it to SDI to a large client minitor or plug it to a small handheld monitor for a battery powered director's monitor to run next to me. Also one thing: I did the mistake of renaming my Arrow with a name of over 9 characters which created a stack overflow and crashed the receiver. I had to send it to Paralinx for exchange. The guys at Paralinx were super responsive and a new unit is in the mail right now (<rant>faster than Tiffen for swapping some stupid clamps </rant>). Just don't rename them with more than 9 letters. And you are all good.
  5. I contacted SmallHD about a mounting bracket and they said they are not looking into making one. Also you could possibly adapt another one on it. I would wait till the monitor actually comes out before going into thinking about all this. Last resort would be to design one and make a small batch (or maybe someone like Mk-V could design one, I mentioned the monitor to them in the past)
  6. True there is a price difference between the tow so I am not shocked or surprised. Preston I amazing but pricey. I never used Varizoom but if you add the camera trigger it could be a real contester.
  7. Hi Tom, I sorry to ask, but I heard that there was no camera Start/Stop option on the VariZoom. Is that true?
  8. I forgot to mention, I'm in New York City (So it rules out going there to pick it up) Thanks for all the help.

  10. What are the other options for a digital level on a HD monitor?
  11. Yeah original clamps got stuck so it needs to be swapped (should have been done ages ago) plus my safety screws on the dovetail "disappeared" (thanks random camera intern but you don't have to remove them to put the plate).
  12. Why not upgrading to a Digital bartech, keep your analog, buy the digital Motor drive, get the extra slider and boom dual channel digital Bartech! Your N-one should work with it too (i think) http://www.plcelectronicsolutions.com/categories/BARTECH-DIGITAL-FOLLOW-FOCUS/?sort=pricedesc
  13. I was hired for a craigslist job yesterday, they never sent me a call sheet, didn't called me, I didn't showed up, still no news from them...
  14. ... I really need to get those safety pins on my plate they have "vanished" after a shoot -- and Tiffen is not being responsive replacing them...
  15. Would walkie talkie or other radio frequencies interfere with the device?
  16. http://www.marshallmonitors.com/products/accessories/V-LCD-HI/index.html The level is only compatible with some marshall monitors (not universal) I bought mine today, and I'm a little disappointed by the delay of the reading, plus my unit has a weird glitch, with the sled docked and untouched the arrow on the screen will sometimes jump to the right, reading a +90 degree angle then jump back to it's normal reading (around +-1 degree). Plus after a bit the readings disappear from the screen and I need to unplug/replug the device... I also realized the box has to be placed flat and horizontally, and not vertically along the pole as I would like...
  17. Hi, I like Alan's solution, but before buying it, does anyone has another solution? Still interested it Mark's setup details. And also what position are you putting it so that it reads the X and Y axis properly? Thank's all. V.
  18. Would it be just (bad) luck with the environment and faraday like metal structures around? Of its just a signal strength issue I doubt it's related to the frame rate or video format.
  19. The Epic outputs 1080 true progressive and not PsF (Progressive segmented Frame) as most camera does. This is known for being a pain with some older monitors and a real pain. I would bet that's what's going on. Check with Switronix if they accept true progressive and PsF. Also check with your monitor to make sure it reads the signal properly (without the wireless in between)
  20. I have been having issues with Kipp Handles as well (on my Zephyr) and contacted Derek with no answer so far. Have you tried calling Tiffen's Steadicam Warranty Service 818 843 4600. It's the only place I was able to get someone at the other end of the line.
  21. Thank you Joseph! Got the package in time and in great condition
  22. I just bought my first rig, a Steadicam Zephyr off the marketplace but I got Joseph Fitzgerald's Paralinx Arrow thanks to the forum. I promised myself I would become a sustaining member as soon as I had to use the marketplace. It's done. Thank you all for all the great tips, the resourceful info, the fast responses... and the drama, I'm proud to be a part of this community.
  23. Hi, I am looking for a good docking stand for the Zephyr that could be wheeled around, anyone has a suggestion? What about this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/611435-REG/Avenger_A5017_5_8_Roller_Stand.html Will it be sturdy enough?
