  1. I use Gore Biking gloves. Same thing don't go on the north pole with them. Is anyone wrapping their gimbal with some tennis racket grip or similar to avoid touching the freezing metal?
  2. Instead of cutting them, I would try to fasten them somehow. Just in case you want to sell you vest some day...
  3. I used 2M dualock under the stage (there are no diving boards available for the Zephyr) I will try adding a bungy to fasten the Bartech receiver tighter.
  4. Wasn't the first Steadicam models with a locked post and people would add some Teflon to make it spin? And now you say we should go back to 1. Maybe your socket block needs some adjustment. On the zephyr the post spins with no way to stop it and it works great.
  5. I am not sure about that, I feel like its more like the pole flexing or the dovetail attachment (always felt that this silver knob was kinda small to hold the weight of the whole camera). Also, for this shoot I was running fairly fast and stop abruptly, so it might be related to my foot steps (could it be the arm?)
  6. Someone mentioned doing a maintenance at a shop before transaction and have the shop holding the sled untill funds are transferred. Would that work?
  7. This was shot at 58fps (so the first part of the video is the sped up to real time, then the slow mo version). On the photo, held by my 1AC is the rig we were using. Talking about stripped down rig... [edit] smaller pic
  8. Here is my vibration issue. Now That I see it, it's different than the OP's problem. https://vimeo.com/54322378 http://vimeo.com/54322378
  9. Can you do a test with variable frame rates? like 48fps, see if it's still every other frames which it would mean that the camera is the culpit, or if it still happens at the same interval which might mean it's the vibration's frequency... I also fly Epic/Scarlets on Zephyr, but i'm in NYC. [edit] I also had a weird vibration thing once. Going back through the R3Ds to look for it.
  10. Impatient to play with the Bolt as well. The prod I work with is getting one. I'll let you know when I try it as well...
  11. Our replacement part is on the way. Thanks for the help.
  12. Can it be used with one analog and one digital motor driver? If so, wouldn't it be better to use the digital for focus?

  14. Hi, I was wondering how non union operators are going with their Health Insurance. Thanks.
  15. Thank you. I knew about SOA, but not the other. Being french and new on the US market, the whole Associations and union is still fairly cryptic to me.
  16. Hi, I was wondering what the meaning of SOC was. Thanks
  17. There are a lot of discussions going on about this. All I can give you, are the names of the contestants. - IDX CW-5HD Cam-Wave HD It has been built to resist and reliable, but bulky. - Switronix RECON-ULTRA even bulkier, with antennas, but cheaper. - Boxx Meridian Very expensive but great quality - Modulus 3000 SD, not HD but cheap used and reliable, you will need a downconverter. - Teradeck Bolt Small, cheap, SDI, but not out yet, still in test phase (my personal best bet) (more info on REDuser) - Paralynx Arrow Super small, Super cheap, but HDMI only, you need a SDI converter with it. - AbelCine Wireless Video Solution basically, a pile of consumer and prosumer equipment put together You will also find a lot of info on this thread The conversation drifted to other wireless systems. Personally I would get the Teradeck bolt, but I'm careful as I had a ton of issues with the Cube before. We'll see Hope it helps.
  18. How often does it happen? Any stories of springs breaking on PRO?
  19. Does anyone knows if the Bolt or any other recorder (this is a Switronix thread after all) would transfer the Record pulse or the timecode (to trigger a recorder in video village?)
  20. WOW! I just bought a Hyperdeck last month and was annoyed anout the lack of prores, great news! I'll check it out tonight.
  21. I would be more worried about the maximum weight on the arm (23 lb of camera weight) Alexa ~ 15 lb Lens ~ 4 lb Wireless video ~ 1 lb Wireless ff ~ 2.5 lb wires ~ .5lb matte box ~ 1 lb =25 lb That's without the codex (5.7 lb) [Calculated form average weights found online] The Epic's body being 5lb, it's still within the range, and even a bit of room for a battery (AB Dionic HC is 1.8 lb plus the battery plate) on it's back (solving the whole wiring issue)... This is one of the reasons why I am looking into a larger rig soon.
  22. Hi, I am not familiar with the PAG batteries, and especially their PAGlok connector. What are your thoughts on them. https://www.paguk.com Thanks. V
  23. Call Tiffen, ISTS Orly a matter of swapping the battery plates.
  24. Also, I had so many bad experiences with the Teradeck Cube, (The connection was so bad super long delays cought up by speeding the image for about 30 secs... that the director preffered running behind me and looking at the tiny monitor on top of the RED. ) I guess a Paralynx as a cheap thing for now, until something good and reliable comes up might be my way.
