  1. Yep, me too. And i also miss the Mark all post as read ? Or am i missing that somewhere? all the way down at the bottom of the page. Just right of the RSS logo.
  2. I am concerned about electromagnetic shielding with the plastic mounted connectors. also the long term durability and integrity of the connectors being mounted to what in essence is a plastic chassis. Im trying to think of another manufacture that uses plastic in place of an aluminum chassis You mean like PC laptops vs Mac (and no I don't want a Mac/PC war here or a G70/PRO for that matter) I guess it's how they were able to take the price down for the Zephyr compared to the "big ones"
  3. St true I had some shut downs with the epic and analog Bartech. I guess I'll power the camera and the wireless on one top battery and monitor and focus on another one on the bottom stage.
  4. I read somewhere that it was optional and you could choose to have it on or not. Maybe I'm wrong.
  5. Hi, I am wondering if there is any way to have more power plugs on the top stage. As of now there is only two (one for the camera and one for the Bartech) I am wondering about having a P-tap to plug a wireless transmitter. Any idea? Is a Lemo to Ptap cable the solution?
  6. Great! Are you still trying to reduce the number of parts? Or the design is final? Are you aiming to keep a similar price to the standard vest it is it going to be way more expensive. I understand if you can't answer. (I'm also curious as I am looking to build a full new rig for the beginning of next year.
  7. I don't mean to troll, but Abel Cine just released this: http://blog.abelcine.com/2012/11/09/at-the-bench-abelcine-wireless-video-solution/
  8. And how would this compare to a Teradek Bolt? Why should I go with a much bigger box that the cigarette pack sized one?
  9. I once told them I would shoot for half, and give them the footage for the other half.
  10. MK-V makes Master series upgrades http://www.mk-v.com/...-v.com/?cat=215 ( the battery upgrade is at the bottom of the page)
  11. I discovered the joy of Steadicam less than a year ago and very quickly grew attached to the idea of becoming Steadicam operator. The first time I put the rig on, it somehow clicked, I enjoyed the feeling, and got a hang of the mechanics fairly quickly. Did not feel the "ooh no, that's not for me" that most people have when the camera is pulling them forward, gripping on the gimbal to hold it up. I did a few jobs on a Friend's Zephyr, it was okay, but I felt that I needed more than just watching the EFP video and decided to go to a 2 days workshop in NYC (Great workshop Dan!)... Not long after that, got my first steadicam intensive "big gig" for a RCA/Sony band's music video. Only steadicam shots for the whole day. All along, I was regularly checking the Steadicam forum, reading the new and old threads, asking good and bad questions, answering to what I could, discussing opinions and ideas. During this time I discovered an amazing community of talented, yet, accessible people where the world's best don't hesitate patiently explaining things to the newcomers or writing full length articles about their experiences on specific topics. I feel like I learned and discovered so much from reading those threads and posts that I felt the need to just say -- thank you Victor Lazaro
  12. For the Flyer SD, you need to use the yellow RCA cable Otherwise, you can use a downconverter SDI to Analog: Blackmagic Design: Mini Converters Tech Specs Or update your monitor to a HD (I don't really know if 100% doable on the flyer)
  13. I also have some issues when powering the Epix and Bartech from the same battery. The camera shuts down when I switch on the Bartech. There seems to be a peak when you turn it on. (It's also discussed in another thread)
  14. You mean a Lite Panel micro? What do you man by remote wireless you want to dim it from a distance?
  15. For me on my Mac and mi iPhone, all the apostrophe and special characters come out as gibberish. Anyone else?
  16. Interresting, but without power what does the box do? It's definitely not emplifying the signal...
  17. I did the Steadicam 2 days workshop in NYC. I learned a lot from it and they corrected my posture and hand position. Watching the EFP training video and reading the Steadicam Operator's manual are crucial and you will get more out of your workshop if you already try things for yourself. I fly a Zephyr as of right now but am looking into getting a bigger rig.
  18. It's a real problem. Not for ''off topic'', maybe... made a new topic here: http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=16971
  19. An Off Topic post made me think: Was there any situation where you would switch your arm side? Is it worth training in both ways?
  20. Which got me to think. Was there any situation where you would switch your arm side? Is it worth training in both ways?
  21. HAHA! I call this the Breathecam. the camera moves with every inhale from the op. It's not a problem, it's a feature!
  22. Reminds me of that story in the Steadicam Op handbook, about an operator asking for a production to pay for a part of his rig in exchange of 10 days of work for them... Maybe you can tell them to prepay multiple days... More seriously, never give the first run for less, otherwise they will always compare your rate with the first time.
  23. I use 2M Dualock velcro (much stronger) right under the stage. It's a bit messy when docking (i usually leave just enougn room for the docking bravket to fit) but it gets the job done. Otherwise on the camera like you did before.
