  1. I have one last question Chris (thank you for being so present and taking your time to present us you invention) Would you recommend the Exovest as m first big rig vest, or should I start off with the classic front mount, then upgrade to the Exo? (I fly a Zephyr right now, but plan on getting a full size system soon)
  2. It's like the Facebook design updates...
  3. Also checking, It would work with a PRO arm as well? Right? What about the back mount?
  4. Hi, Bumping for a price or at least a timeframe for a price announce and/or release? This looks great!
  5. Hi, The tool free clamp on the gimbal is very stiff, I removed the screw and it seems it is the silver pivot in the clamp itself that does not want to move. Any solution?
  6. Gotcha. I noticed this power drop on the Zephyr I use. I solved it by always powering the bartceh first. I did a shoot with the Side Handle and the tiny bricks were a pain in the *** but worked. Also you can plan on having the side handle and a single brick for backup in case of power failure (I usually do that on sticks as weight doesn't matter as much) Do you have this same power drop issue on double or triple batteries systems?
  7. Would you say that this system is a contender to the Preston?
  8. I don't see any issues with showing guns in your demo, you are not responsible for the subject that you shoot and therefore you should not be juged on it, as long as the shots shows your talents in steadicam and framing, you are good to go. On the other hand, it depends on the clients you are looking for. If you have clients that are anti guns fanatics (I am anti guns but don't mind a good war movie), you may want to have a second PG version of your demo reel.
  9. Well, you just tested it and it did not work. What about this Switronix cable from B&H http://goo.gl/eVJgH
  10. Hi, I am looking into making a weight plate at a local Machine shop in Brooklyn. I was wondering if anyone had some sort for ideal hole placements and measurements. Otherwise if you know a place where I can get one already made in NYC, that would work too.
  11. ...and then all The Voice Steadicam operators are like:
  12. I don't know about the electronic inside or the software, but it's true that they have exactly the same shape.
  13. There is a PDF doc made by Tiffen for to choose between the big rigs: http://www.steadicam.com/images/content/Origami_Pro_USAUK_sm.pdf and some extra info on small rigs here: http://www.tiffen.com/helpChoose.html But it is true that I would love to see some info on the pros and cons on each rig would love to see that chart. :) I think that one of the missing things about all the Tiffen documentation is that it's all about Tiffen, and same for each brand. duh!
  14. To buy, there is this: http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=steadicam&itemnum=800-7900-01 I was looking to rent...
  15. I was thinking bout that when buying it, those plugs seems like they are sticking out a bit too much.. Oh well, Maybe I should get a couple of extra adapter cables just in case. I just came back from my first shoot with th HyperDeck and Red Epic. Feels good to have decent dailies to review your footage at home without waiting on production to hand you the R3Ds. Plus some clients may even be interested in getting on the spot time coded dailies. Is anyone using that super heavy cheese plate? I'm considering returning it if I find something else... PS: sorry for the slight off topic.
  16. I just purchased a Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 (with DNxHD recording) Do you think if could handle the resolution change at least while not recording. I like the fact that the recorder also serves as HDMI/SDI converter.
  17. It's so bad that I'm almost tempted to buy one just for fun.
  18. It looks to me like you need to adjust your arm socket between your arm and vest. The two screws can be used to balance the sled falling away or towards you, unscrew the bottom one a lot the set the top screw so that the sled doesn't flies of then tighten the bottom screw. The two silver knobs are for right and left to set them up you will need to relieve the weight or remove the sled from the arm. I would also recommend you to memorize the number of turns (or 1/2 or 1/4 turns) needed for each set up. For more info, read the Steadicam Operator's Handbook http://www.amazon.com/Steadicam®-Operators-Handbook-Jerry-Holway/dp/0240811658, it's a golden mine wether you are flying a Pilot or a Clipper.
  19. One thing I would love to see is a buyer's guide. Comparing the different available rigs, seeing which is more fit for what use and what are the pros and cons. And maybe the same thing with accessories, like wireless focus, video TX/RX, video recorders, Batteries, other accessories. I would be more than happy to help (also the Steadicam world is still fairly new to me and I am currently doing those researches slowly on my own)
  20. Thank you!:) I agree the EFP DVD was an amazing introduction to the steadicam and the The Steadicam® Operator’s Handbook is a great in depth exploration. DVD: http://www.steadicam.com/steadicam_efp_dvd.html Book: http://www.amazon.com/Steadicam®-Operators-Handbook-Second-Edition/dp/024082380Xf Also look at http://www.steadicam-news.com they have good resources gathered in one location with training videos and interesting articles.
  21. Anyone? The shoot ended, and I did it in soft mount. It worked but I'm still wondering about a hard mount for the big small rig (zephyr)
  22. ...and this is one of the reasons why I want to buy a bigger rig than the zephyr (meanwhile I still work on zephyr and love it but already start do funy its limitations. )
  23. What is the minimum brightness a monitor needs to be viewable in direct sunlight?
