  1. +1 for Peter Hoare, I sent mine to Don because a screw broke inside and it needed more than maintenance. It took him a long time and I had to call him every day to remind him to fix my motor and remind him to ship it back when it was done. Peter is great and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with his service.
  2. +1 for W.P. Dolle they have a specific Steadicam plan for SOA members. http://wpdolle.com/_steadicam.html
  3. The Decimator 2 is the industry standard in terms of downconverter http://decimator.com/Products/MiniConverters/decimator2/decimator2.html
  4. I'm having a bad tome with Vitec's AB service. I have a 2722 that makes a hissing noise when a battery is on the right position. Send the charger with proof of purchase. They refuse the receipt, I have to pay over $200, wait a month, receive it, it's still broken (but they upgraded the firmware chip, which I couldn't care less about). Thanks you for nothing Vitec and Anton Bauer. My next battery setup will not be with them, Switronix is looking like a good choice.
  5. The smallest motor driver that I know of is the RT Motion MKIII. Their system is super small and will work on gimbals (or just tell them to use a Steadicam haha). I never tested the thing so I can't vouch for the quality of the thing.
  6. Sale pending on the Custom one. I went to B&H and checked, they are both working perfectly! These levels work great with the Steadicam Zephyr HD monitor. Custom Original
  7. A small spray of acf-50 around the arm's joints should do the trick.
  8. Happy New Year! I have two Marshall levels for sale. They can be used with V-LCD651STX, V-LCD70XP and V-LCD70XHB series monitors. One is the sock version with the 5 feet long USB cable coming out of it. The other one is customized with a female usb connector so you can use any usb cable out of it. $170 each + plus shipping
  9. If you tightened everything, then the vibrations might come from the overweight. If the camera is too heavy for the rig, then the flex might come from the center post itself. This happened to me when I was overweighting it with a red epic and a massive zoom lens and all the accessories, simply touching the batteries with my leg would induce massive vibrations in the lens through the post. With a camera package sighing the weight range, no vibrations at all. Th Zephyr is a wonderful starter rig. Hope it helps.
  10. I have one that I had as a backup. I don't use Marshall monitors anymore. Let me find it when in back in NYC on the 28th and I'll put it up for sale.
  11. Tiffen and G-50 is far superior to the Glidecam. I didn't say the Glidecam sucks, but you will have better results and less hassle with the Tiffen.
  12. Well, you're wearing 50 lb of metal on you, hard to hide it. Maybe get a large coat to cover the vest?
  13. What about using one of these: https://www.abelcine.com/store/Universal-Rod-Adapter-15mm-19mm/ http://www.shoot35.com/15mm-to-19mm-Bridge-Plate-Adapter-p/shoot-15mmto19mm-adapter.htm http://www.adorama.com/chr40117.html Definitely a bit heavier and bulkier, but it might work? EDIT: Found what you're looking for!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/19mm-15mm-Rod-Clamp-Adapter-fr-Studio-Support-Rail-DSLR-Rig-Follow-Focus-Camera-/271233060384?roken=cUgayN&soutkn=JycXNh
  14. I used the Zephyr with pretty heavy red packages, zoom lens and what not. It held well up to a point a couple of years after buying it where I wanted to be able to fly anything without worrying about overloading and went for GPI PRO (I would have never gone with a PRO sled as my first rig btw, it would have been a waste but I love it now that I have a few more hours under the hood). This package you see below flew really nicely. The limitations with the zephyr are vibrations in the center post with extra heavy cameras, and the gimbal starts to get detuned under the load (I had to recalibrate it a couple of times)
  15. Not sure if the rental difference between an FS7 and a 5 would make it worth it. Maybe having one as an option of a smaller camera body for special shots or documentary, but not a whole fleet. Also, please see with an Admin to have your name changed to your real name. This forum requires you to use your real name, you can advertise about your business in your signature. To post advertisements, you will need to become a sustaining member.
  16. What rig do you have. $140 is extremely low and you will not find anything good at that price.
  17. Hi Victor, You would have to look at photos/see the rig to see how it is done. Most of the time it is done by threading a HDMI mini cable through the post. Anyways, If you are looking to buy from Craigslist I would strongly recommend you test the device in person prior to buying. Check that all the electronics work, that the gimbal is properly centered (balance a camera with the lens facing to the right, of the stand, then flip it 180 for face the left, the camera should still be perfectly horizontal) and that the steadicam works as it is supposed to.
  18. Might I add that there should be an easier way for users to change their name to their full name on this forum. Too often we have to remind newcomers to change their name, then face the issue of how to change it.
  19. Darn I missed the post. I could have been sharing some beers instead being a couch potato. Oh well, see you on the 21 I hope.
  20. December 21 is my birthday!! I'll be there, but not for too long since I have a 3:45 AM call the next day.
  21. Transvideo StarliteHD seems to be the best bet right now. It records small files in 720p which is more than enough for demo reels without taking too much disk space. There are also the Atomos Samurai Blade is higher recording quality but much bulkier (Media Blackout makes a bracket to install it instead of a battery on your sled. I personally have a BlackMagic Design Hyperdeck Shuttle 2, that I modified to attach to an anton bauer plate on my sled, it was the cheapest option but does have some caveats.
  22. Hi, Take a deep breath, it is doable. It takes time and some patience the first times but it becomes second nature quickly. If you are still having some issues, there are some great Steadicam Workshops available all around the US where professionals will teach ou how to use this awesome tool. The 2 days workshops from Tiffen should be enough to get you started http://www.tiffen.com/steadicamworkshops/
  23. AUX out is supposed to output RAW of whatever you are recording. Also it does not work un HFR (S&Q)
