  1. Hmm...don't know how registration works now. But would it be a good idea before new members register, to be informed about the members of this forum? That it consists of members with pro steadicam gear?

I'm not saying that we warn off people, just inform them. Sometimes we start with cheap gear and move up. But the ones who will NEVER invest in pro gear, will understand that this is not the place to look?

A lot of those posts clog up the forum, and has little to do with this forum.

  2. Hi Nithin,

as Chris states, this forum consists of mostly operators who owns and uses $25K+ worth of steadicam gear. Therefore, no one here will likely have encountered the gear you ask about. Maybe someone here has used it, but not likely.

    I did a quick google search and found this site;

    http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5749/laing-steadicams-arms-and-vests/p1

It seems like a forum for the type of gear you're looking at.

    Good luck!

    All the best

  3. Thanks Alec. I asked since my union just made a deal that we get this. Networks and production companies are complaining about this.

Royalties have been a thing for directors and actors here in the past.

So I wondered what the deal was in other countries.

  4. The Canada Goose jackets are actually made in Canada. Used to drive past one of the factories here in Toronto often.

That's one of the things they pride themselves in.. rightfully so!

You're right Mark. My bad. But they do use dog fur in their hoods. That is why there's been a campaign against those jackets.

  5. Here there's been a big campaign against the Canada Goose jackets. The hair they use on the hood the jacket, comes from dogs and cats. The dogs live in terrible conditions. The jackets are of course made in China as many jackets are.

  6. Baffin are great shoes. We were stuck once in the north of Norway in February on a shoot. One of our snow mobiles was stuck in ice. We spent almost half an hour standing in ice, snow and water, but the shoes just kept going. Used these shoes a lot here in Norway where the winters can get freakin' cold. Two thumbs up here.

  7. Hi David,

when I owned a U2 vest, it made noise from time to time. I found that spraying sparingly some ACF-50 on the moving parts of the vest helped. Remember to wipe off the vest at once. It did the trick for me. Hope it helps.

  8. Selling 2 Sony NP-F970 batteries with Sony ACVQ105 double charger.

  9. Poor man's is fine as long as the camera in question has an image flip mode (and the AC's know how to activate it quickly), or there is a workflow via DIT etc to convert the image for monitors. Otherwise, unless the director's monitors are on yokes that allow for quick inversion, or have quickly accessible internal image flip, it's not so cute for everyone who is watching.

What?! Come on Charles. That's the most rewarding moment. Always great fun to see the director and DP sit on their chairs and turning their upper body, desperately trying to see the image correctly! :-)

  10. Having spoken to my steadicam colleague here in Norway, I must rephrase my previous comment on BON customer service. I still have a bad experience with them, but this was through a 3rd party in the US who distributed BON monitors. My colleague says he has dealt directly with BON South-Korea and is very happy with their service. There was one small incident, but nothing to mention.

I'll see you at IBC Michael, and we can speak there.

  11. Hi Aldrian,

welcome to the forum. The Zephyr is for light to medium cameras. However, even though you can fly an Alexa on it, the camera would be very stripped down, and not a good example of how the real shooting world functions. I use Alexa a lot, and have seldom gotten it under 15 kilos.

Your camera needs to be heavy enough to balance the rig properly.

Since you're saying you want to learn it, I assume your knowledge of Steadicam is limited.

So I have copied a video from YT that basically explains how to balance the Zephyr.

    Good luck.

  12. I think I'm ready to make my decision.

One more thing Lars, how long ago was this? (The service, etc from Bon)

This was May of 2013. I prepaid my monitor, which is normal. But BON delivered it 4 weeks overdue. Which can happen. But I bought the unit for a specific reason, so I kept calling the US dealer about it. They said that they never got any info from BON whatsoever, about why it was overdue or when to expect it. This just pissed me off and I told myself never to use BON again. I guess they have so many customers in South-Korea they can just overlook foreign clients altogether...

Oh, an operator I know here in Norway had similar experiences with their customer service. They really need to beef that up if they expect to grow overseas.

  13. Hmm...seems to be two different systems we're talking about. The Tiltamax hasn't been released yet. The Air Two unit isn't the same at all.

But the link I posted to Tiltamax, which worked a few days back, doesn't work anymore. Perhaps something has happened in the production line. It does seem strange that there is next to nothing of info out there about the unit.
