  1. I mean't specifically for hand held use like the MoVi
  2. Hey Jamie :D The first thing that comes to mind is when Garrett Brown showed us images of the prototype steadicam at the workshop, and how it was necessary to have a body builder operate it... The Movi certainly isn't that heavy, but I would imagine that endurance becomes a huge variable when using the movi. Imagine in 1-2 more years, when a gyro unit is made to support a 20-30 lb rig. that would suck to hold for a shot longer than a minute long.. I would love to see movi attached to a steadicam. Imagine the possibilities of that.
  3. Wow. This is awesome! The second shot has me mesmerized. Reminds me of the steadicam shot in Serenity.
  4. If a moderator could delete this thread, or move it into the right section, that would be great. Thank you
  5. Ah ha! It was the batteries! I feel quite a mix of embarrassment and joy. haha. Im quite the steadi-newbie...
  6. Hey Tom! I was at the workshop indeed. :D If I recall correctly, the models we used at the workshop never had any symptoms like this. Im using trimpac anton bauers. They haven't been charged very recently. Im charging them now in hopes of it solving my issue. My first thought was the monitor is defective, but I do have a tendency to jump to worst case scenarios
  7. Could it be that the monitor isn't getting enough power from the batteries? This is the first time to test this model steadicam. I know that other models didn't show any symptoms like this at the least. Im charging my batteries now...
  8. About 2 weeks ago I bought a used flyer le. I was finally able to put it to the test today, only to find out that the monitor was acting very bizarre. As I was using the steadicam, the monitor gave out. The screen became gray and the words "no video signal" faded into the grey... I have tried changing batteries, turning it on and off, leaving it powered off for an hour... It's not giving me a signal or even menu options at all. The monitor is completely grey. What's frightening me even more is that I tried using the additional monitor that came with it, and after 5-10 minutes of using it, the same thing happened to THAT monitor. I can't comprehend what's going on. Im pretty distressed at this. Any answers are appreciated... I can post a picture if it will help Thanks, Kevin
  9. Thanks for all the tips. I'll definitely look into a media pass. I had no idea such a thing existed. Osvaldo, I can't imagine 1250 for flying luggage... That is insane. Almost 3 grand for a round trip... Wow. Makes sense though.
  10. Hi all. Im quite new to steadicam and just purchased a Flyer LE from someone I met at one of the workshops. As I'm still in school, I do a lot of traveling back and forth between Houston, Texas and Pittsburgh, PA. I work in both areas at different times during the year. The case that came with the Flyer is HUGE and definitely won't be allowed on a plane. Shipping the steadicam would cost about 100 dollars (insured) one way as well. The only thing I can think of is investing in a few pelican or seahorse cases for the traveling, but I was curious to know what other members here have done to ease the stress of travel with very expensive gear. If pelican cases are the way to go, could someone recommend me the proper size that does the best job? Also, if anyone has experience using a seahorse case, could you give me a review of how it's treated you? Thanks! Kevin
  11. After a trip to home depot with that in mind, I found exactly what was needed. I was definitely over thinking the solution :P Thank you very much.
  12. It's not that simple. Because the quick release is threaded, it doesn't align with the weight plate when I screw it in from the top. If I screw it in from the bottom, the quick release will not be secured down unless I use a nut. In which case the camera wont fit into the quick release.
  13. A Steadi newbie here with a question that has been frustrating me.. Because of the lack of funds, I decided to build my own weight plate, however, I am not so talented when it comes to building things. I had someone machine me the weight plate and they did an excellent job. The holes are both 3/8 and 1/4. All of which are threaded. When I stopped at Home Depot to figure out how to attach my quick release, I just completely fell short of the knowledge to do so. Could anyone care to explain in detail how I can achieve this?
