  1. Marcelo, This site http://www.sunlightlcd.com/6-inch-daybrigh...bchh6400hd.html resembles the Boland an aweful lot . . .which doesn't exist as of yet
  2. Louis, One more question . . . . when can we field test your Frankenmonitor . . . . I know Job and I can't be the only ones wanting to test a new monitor? Build on!!! Oh and the frame line and Electronic level are Icing on the cake . . . .at least for me, analog level is what I have to work with all the time anyway. . . .LOL . . .
  3. Hey Luis, As you can see the perfect steadicam monitor is widely discussed on this forum and God knows we are all very willing to test, comment and buy "The One" ! In my opinion . . . .8.4" is too big, at least it is for my applications, Boland has the 8.4" already and has proved it's a usable size and weight, but that being said Please keep working on it we need the perfect monitor. Being that you are the monitor guru is there a huge difference to make a 8.4 into a 7" or is the supply and demand for that size LCD not enough to justify the cost. That is what Boland told me at NAB this year so, Is it that we are all having to use the 8.4" instead. The perfect Monitor in my world at least would be: 7" NTSC HD/SDI 1000nits Fmameline gen. Electronic Level I don't care about whatever power you have I'll make a cable, But Hirosi would work in my world Thanks for keeping us posted Rob "Sick of lugging 3 monitors around" Vuona
  4. ---------- All should call Jeff Silverman 954-232-8503 16000 Frames per second
  5. Just a note, or . . . I guess a question, I am hearing you guys talk about the Zoe controller but have you guys tried the Stanton Zoom/Focus controller? I have never had any problem with it with any lens. It just takes a little getting used to grabbing the handle instead of the yolk.
  6. Hey Charles, Sounds corny but they work really well: http://cgi.ebay.com/Crop-In-Style-Photo-Or...1QQcmdZViewItem they come in 4x6 and 5x7 and wicked affordable All the best
  7. Hey Kyle, Afton hit the nail on the head, playing the political game becomes more and more important, unfortunately your in the imfamous catch-22, you need work but you need experience to get work. Producers want to know what you have done and who you have worked for, then they ask for a reel. As for the Web again Afton is right inevitably you will get googled and IMDB and that will set the tone for a faceless name. As for the demo reel, mix it up, don't repeat make it short. Even if your not on a project you can still get great shots for a demo reel showing off tracking, stairs and lots and lots of foreground all the best
  8. ---------- Hey Jess, I did the same on my rig, I added weight in front of the post on the bottom of the sled but I also extended the monitor arm. I still would like to hear the others take on this , Garrett or Jerry the two yoda's of the business, do you guys have an opinion . . .LOL . . Thanks
  9. Messeage me the info on the prompter or better yet get in touch with Mike Shurlis as they are looking for him to secure a prompter for Winter. But it has to be a thru the glass style because the producers don't like the sight line issue we get with a little LCD mounted above the lens. Email me you digits as well Hey Eric, Talked to Mike about the prompter I think he's got it worked out for Winter X. My digits are 310-993-0667 Robvski@aol.com
  10. -------------- Hey Bryan, I wouldn't start with production companies and producers in the area I would start with the operators in the area and not step on any toes and start filling in on some of the gigs they can't do and work your way into the rotation that way. If they refer you then the directors and producers will listen. Good luck Fly safe
  11. --------- Hey Eric, I'll go into detail about X-Games off the forum, these guys don't need to know about ESPN and their shortcomings . . . .! Glad to see your still flying unfortunately it's still for the Rat! Call some time we'll catch up, Oh and Blaagth on your prompter, I have a way better solution that will make you more money and it weighs 1/8 of the weight of that thing.
  12. Nice pics Anthoney. ------------------------ Hey Erik, Long time no talk . . . . .are you still flying for the Rat, Oh I'm sorry I mean ESPN, oh I'm sorry ABC, Oh I'm sorry Disney . . . LOL . . . I haven't talked to you since I was doing Super Slow Motion at X-Games standing under motorcycles and snowmobiles flying at my head . . .LOL . . Are you looking for a steadicam prompter? I fly one pretty much on every show I am on so if you need one let me know I can hook you up. All the best
  13. Hey Starling, You want to field this one . . .? Nacho give Robert Starling a try , he's on this forum, he does DIT work on the side he can probably give you the basics to get those cameras painted correctly. Good Luck
  14. ------------------------ Hey Joshua, I didn't know him personally but I did know of him . . so, please find out if his family needs anything especially monetarily so if needed we can all help out . . . My deepest condolences
  15. Stephen great quote and Sooooooo true . . . . I agree wholheartedly . . . .
  16. ---------------- Ok Dan, So timely . . . . .I had this conversation yesterday with an operator on the stage next door to mine. While the writers were out on the sidewalk we were, fortunately still flying. To paraphrse the conversation his operating rate was roughly $40 an hour below mine but his rental rate was $400 above mine. So I ask you, which one is better. I think the rental rate being more might be better because you get the money all up front, but iether way, I have asked this question before. "Gear isn't gear" You guys that have spent 100 of thousands of dollars on your packjage should by all rights get more for your equipment. My, although, very customized, but still and EFP, certainly isn't a Pro or Ultra and My focus system isn't a $30,000 system so , should I charge more compared to you guys? I don't think so. The only bump in rental rate I do is for HD. Sorry to slightly derail the original comments. Ya $600 a day on a flat is a no conversation, but $600 for rig and $125 an Hr. on a 8 hr day with a guarentee 10 still works . . . .No?
  17. ----------------- Hey Roger, I don't currently use this monitor, so my comments are third party, that being said, I do currently use the Transvideo Ultrabright 6.5" and I like it alot, I couple of my friends use the Boland 8.4 and they seem to like them accept they are huge. They bang into all kinds of stuff with those things. They draw more power than the transvideo and have a shorter life expectancy. Mike over at Boland is sticking to his word saying he is still going to make the 6.5" NTSC/PAL/HDSDI daybright, but then again I have been asking him for it for two years now . . .LOL . . .
  18. Call AVS They have 10 RF units for rent including HD
  19. ----------- Call Kyle over at Tiffen I think he's got a used 7" HD Marshal or Boland he'll part with
  20. Mike, why are you wearing a cotten shirt on the beach. . . .? Holy crap there's topless women next to you . . .LOL . . . Nice pict, You should have put the rig on them!
  21. When you come up with a solution for the cable running off the stanton controller, let me know! It is not only really stiff, but way too long. ~Anthony ------------------------- Anthony, Friends of mine have cut thier cables and resoldered them to make them shorter but I'm thinking same controller but wireless . . . .I'm still working on that one . . .LOL . . .at the very least maybe some new wireing that is more flexable . I've had this conversation with Stanton and they said, "Those cable are very, very flexable" . . . .whatever, apparently they haven't ever flown a rig . . .
  22. ----------- Yup . . .Terry West He'll fix you up , he's down in Hermosa Beach I've used him a ton
  23. ----------------------- Hey Jaron, Bummer on the corrosion . . .I had similar happen to me after a three month shoot on the beach in Maui I was tan as you can imagine but my rig didn't look so hot . . . everything that wasn't coated rusted including my trunions . . . .I'm still flying my trusty EFP with an EFP arm ,so my heart goes out to you regarding the G-50 Eventually my arm failed and springs snapped probably with the help of that shoot, I don't know . . .But anyway you can read about that in the archives . . .But after getting it fixed by Robert Luna, which BTW is awesome, he suggested that wiping the arm down with a little bit of baby oil after each shoot which helps avoid the arm from getting squeaky and corroding. Using sometypes of oils can irritate your skin and by using the baby oil it avoids this. I'm not saying to disregard teflon based oils or whatever it is that suits your needs but just a suggestion that seems to be working for me in addition to normal oil maintenance. Oh . . .Ya did Robert tell you about the time he fell into a swimming pool with his last rig, oh was I not suppossed to say that . . . . . .??? No . . .NO . . .I'm just kidding . . .that was me . . .LOL . . .
  24. ------------- Hey Dan, Almost every gig I do is tethered, and I am zooming and focusing. The tether is iether a Fiber cable or a triax and a PL line for. The triax has become super tiny even smaller than the slinky ones that you were talking about, the engineers can't figure out why it works on my rig . . .LOL . . . The fiber cable is definitely bigger and about what you are describing and the PL line I have just this month made a wireless unit that works awesome. I tether from the back of the camera to the vest over my apposing shoulder to an adapter box where the bigger home run cable attaches. My biggest fight isn't with these cables so much as it is with my Zoom and Focus control cables. The Stanton Zoom and Focus controler works awesome in my aplications but the cable system really sucks, so Ya I am working on that one . . . .
  25. How did you modified the mount? "Some controllers seem to uncontrollably drift or creep, no matter how much tinkering you do with the potentiometer." Tomas and Jason, Well everyone that is having this problem with drifting lenses, I have had extensive conversations with Canon regarding the drifting, Fuji doesn't seem to have this problem, and Just last week they called me telling me they may have a reason and a solution, one that I can't post yet but if it is indeed the problem that they are diagnosing then all of you will be the first to hear about it once I become the tester for the solution.
