  1. Hi Danny, Theres a couple things that you need to test 1 - Plug in your tally cable to the sled 2 - Power up your sled 3 - with a flashlight hit your light sensor, it should illuminate the small talent LED, if it doesn't then you have a faulty cable, maybe the sensor is off or one of the leads came loose 4 - If it did illuminate then plug in your monitor with the transvideo multi pin, making sure your using the 12 v side not the 24 v side. 5 - In your Monitor theres a menu that allows you to access, whats called active high or active low, this pertains to how the sled is wired for your tally, I believe its built with active Low, you should be able to toggle though and see it work and then set the other way see it turn off 6 - If either of these things are not working, then its time to get it over to Tiffen to see whats going on with the cable or in the nose box Hope thats helps
  2. Will, I have been in some extreme heat with my Small HD monitor and some extreme cold and neither has affected it. I asked small HD why they went with the Hirose as a power connector and they said it was the least expensive locking power connector BTW: they said there is a panel on the back of the monitor, that was put there to access the inputs, i was thinking of having mine modified to put the BNC and Power connectors on the back instead of the bottom to allow for a cleaner yolk mount. Can't complain about the monitor, its well built and does what it needs to for me, I do love the Transvideo's they make a great product and I have had to only return mine for servicing once, but they are extremely expensive and heavier than I really need JM2C
  3. I've heard about this, so freaking cool, so if you guys can do what these guys are doing only better, well you sold one to me =) in the mean time, i think Christmas present to myself is the 3-D robotics set up way big fun
  4. Can I use this with a go pro and quad copter and the controller rides with me on my mt bike or while I'm skiing so it will just follow on a wide angle ?
  5. Speculated release date .... Before the end of the year. =}
  6. @ Michael, Lots of us use the DP7HD daybright for our primary monitor, they just upgraded to system 3.0 and have fixed the tally but the level on the monitor is still to janky in my opinion to work for steadicam
  7. I loved that arm, but along with two other arms I have owned, yes the springs do eventually snap, and it sounds like a 45 being fired. When my first arm snapped everyone in the audience ducked . . . .LOL . . . . But thats not to say your is going to . . . . keep an eye on it like Jerry says, inspect the springs and your good to go I wouldn't fly a BL4 anytime soon, Made that mistake myself . . . . LOL
  8. I did the same thing Grant did Called every day till he picked up, set a date and called him out Got it back fixed and sold it They are great motors but can't stand customer service that is non existent
  9. Not sure if I follow your math . . . . . and we still don't know where your located so we can't help you there either. But if you can't talk to other operators in your area, then call some rental houses, its pretty rare any of them rent steadicam gear but if they do then you'll have a baseline amount to rent your gear. As for amount to charge for operating min $800 for 8 hrs for live its more $ Gear Min $600 usually $800-$1000 a day, depends on what gear your bringing to the table Hope that helps
  10. Robert, What show are you doing? What camera are they using? What lens are they using? cabled or rf? Who's your assistant ? does he wrap cable with steadicam? theres lots of questions that should be answered
  11. Hey there Nils, Great thread, I too coached and competed in Gymnastics up through college but unfortunately do not do it anymore, but sure do still love it , I couldn't agree more with your assessment with the comparison. I do run ski tours all winter, play Ice hockey every week and I used to Race Mountain Bikes and still ride as often as I can. So I believe that carrying the steadicam all the time most definitely keeps my legs and back in shape to compliment my sports and vise versa.
  12. Alan, Thanks for the plate Looks great . . . . Let me know when you send another batch to be anodized, I'll throw mine in
  13. Alan send me one I sent you an email but you must have not gotten it
  14. Especially if you put it through what Balwin puts his stuff through. Lol
  15. Min 8 hours pay regardless of the shots or time, especially if it's on payroll Your best bet is to call a local steadicam op in your area, where is your area? And quote accordingly that way you'll always get referred
  16. Give Robert Luna a call He's the guru of master Arms He can go through a check list with you to asses if it would be a good idea to take it in When I had my master Arm he made it look and feel brand new
