  1. I am bumping this...I just hope some more people see it and perhaps I'll find my way to one of the vests I need.
  2. I know I've only posted once before and it was looking for a Model III arm...well, thankfully through the help of someone awesome on here I have been connected to Mr. Luna and he is AWESOME. I've got the arm lined up for my project, but I still have not found the correct Model III vest. If anyone has one in good (or, hopefully amazing shape), and you no longer have a use for it, I would LOVE to hear from you...it would be loved and put to awesome use (the movie prop community is in for a big, big treat). Cheers, Adam
  3. Yes Jess, Most people don't want to spend it...which baffles me. I want to recreate the thing I fell in love with and don't care about the money it ultimately costs (which is why I'm spending enough money to buy a house on an Ecto replica...I will have the nicest, most restored, accurate one in existence when it's finished and THAT is priceless). I know a CP Mark III setup would cost a lot. I actually practice medicine for a career (just finished my medical training) so outside of paying my medical school loans back and saving what I can for a house, money typically isn't an issue (just have to wait for the paychecks to come in) when there's something I know I'll truly appreciate having. I will not settle for anything other than the correct steadicam for this project. I really want my build to be the best, and with the correct steadicam, it wouldn't be hard to accomplish that. I'm on the movie prop forums, and NOBODY uses the correct steadicam because it costs thousands.
  4. Jess, You hit the nail on the head. Aliens is my second favorite movie and the M56 Smartgun is my second favorite movie prop of all time. To be honest, my favorite movie of all time (and my true obsession overall) is Ghostbusters. Well, I've got all of the props from the Ghostbusters films at this point. I'm even fully restoring a 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor ambulance (same car as in the movie) and will soon be converting it into a truly screen accurate Ecto-1. As that car project is coming towards its finish, I've decided it's time to move on to the M56. I realize it may be a bit of a disappointment for a steadicam to be used for a movie prop, but I am very, very amped up to be the first to really do the prop build correctly. I don't know of anyone else who has used a correct steadicam due to the expense - well, I don't see the point in building something if you can't build it right. I would love to find actual parts used during the film, but I doubt I could ever track down the actual steadicams used during filming as one of them was heavily modified to fit the actress who wore it. Not only that, but someone in the UK owns one of the guns from the film, and I'd feel compelled for them to have the screen-used steadicam to go with it (I don't think it would be right any other way). Thanks for the warm welcome too guys. I would certainly post my build progress if anyone would care to see it once I get started. Also, anyone who wants to see my Ecto-1 project build progress can do so here: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28966&p=374573#p374573. It's 7 pages of posts, but the pictures speak for themselves...I'm about 65% of the way there. - Adam
  5. Hello everyone, First of all, please let me say that I am not a steadicam operator or involved with filming. I'm simply looking for the CP Mk III steadicam rig for a very expensive project / display piece I am getting involved with. I contacted a very kind gentleman who at one point had the Cinema Products Mk III for sale, and he was very helpful in that he recommended that I come to this forum to see if anyone may have one they no longer need or would be willing to sell. I realize how much these things cost, but I'd rather use the actual steadicam I am specifically looking for than using a newer, cheaper alternative - accuracy is the most important thing to me when it comes to the projects I am building. If anyone has one, knows someone that has one they may part with, or knows where I can look further into locating one, I would REALLY appreciate it. - Adam
