  1. I had a computer issue and lost alot of my contact info for people. While that is a problem I do need Jimmy McConkey and Jo Willems info ASAP if anyone has it. If they don't feel comfortable giving it to me if you can contact me to pass a message on to them I would appreciate it.

    Thanx,

  2. While I already have my rig...I'm looking at getting a Red and need to finanace. Since I know a number of you have had to deal with the leasing companies I'm wondering if anyone has had any good experiences or bad ones with particular companies. I know its bit off topic but for those that are looking to lease a new rig I figure it wil help.

    Thanx,

  3. My equipment is down in Florida and I'm in New York. I just got a call last night for a last minute job tomorrow here in NY and have no way to get my gear up here in time. Does anyone know where I could get something to fly about 8lbs. by the end of today. I'm going to cross my fingers and see if I can just buy a Pilot (I know Tiffen keeps most stock in Cali but I'm hoping there is one at Corporate in NY) but if I can't I'm looking to rent or even buy if its super cheap ($3k or less).

  4. The school I attended has an old Glidecam V20 (what I quasi learned on) and after talking with the equipment coordinator (I'm an adjunct) about my continued interest and the greater interest of current and incoming students we decided it might be good to look at a new system. So if anyone has a Flyer or similar system please send some info to me I'll review and pass along what I think is best.

  5. While I understand what a gyro does I'm wondering how much it helps or hurts for steadicam. Is it possible that as a newbie it might be worth it to get two KS4s early on to get those shots looking better until I've got enough practice to ditch them unless the conditions get bad? I understand the noise factor (i'm also a sound guy). thanx in advance...

  6. Ok so I've read over almost the entire vest topic... I know how important getting the best vest for the individual is. Its also the first thing I'm going to buy (I already happen to have a modulus and follow focus). The question becomes is there anywhere to check out and even try some of the different vests to compare. I've checked out info on Walter Klassen's back mounted, the Master & Ultra, GPI, and DSD. I've read the posts on front mount vs. back mount (and i have to say the front mount on a Walter Klassen seemed really interesting). Even with all that info is there anywhere (I'm in NYC) that I could try some of them out with some weight. I understand that I'm not experienced enough to really run them through thier paces, but seeing as how this is a fit and comfort thing with weight I think I could make a much better decision if I even got 2 hours or so with each... Will it take a short drive to Tiffen and a longer drive to Toronto?

    Thanx,

PS: I'm registered for the workshop in May and don't plan on buying till after that but I'm trying to learn as much as I can before hand.
