  1. Thanks Rob, l'm getting an engineer to add a wingnut to a bolt that l supplied him with which is the same thread of course as the orignal so hopefully this will solve the problem. Rob once you made the modification to your EFP did it completely solve the problem or not? Andrew Pascoe
  2. l was just wanting to know if anyone else has come across the problem of the dovetail slipping due to the locking knob failing when you have a heavy setup on the sled of around 7kgs and you are tilting the rig eg. 45 degrees angle forward. I did a shoot last night that had a Z1 with a P&S adapter using some 35mm primes and no matter how hard l try to tigthen the locking knob with my fingers it never keep the dovetail in place when tilting the rig as above. My only thoughts to fix the problem is to replace the locking knob with a wingnut so at least l can get some torque with my fingers when trying to tighten locking knob. Does the dovetail ever slip on the bigger rigs like the Archer & Ultra? as the design of the dovetail plate looks exactly the same except for the locking mechanism. Andrew Pascoe
  3. Hi all I just wanted to say that after doing a Flyer workshop with Phil Balsdon on the weekend that l now fully understand why all the experienced operators say go to workshop I've had my Flyer for over a year now and so l have become reasonably comfortable doing the fudamental skills but was l in for a surprise. The detailed knowledge that Phil was able to give us from the ground up was priceless. Finally the adjustments on the socket all make sense now. Also apart from just operating, Phil had some great advice on how to work with in production enviroments. Catering was great and we even got a guest appearance from Rusty Geller - reponsible for part of the opening shot on the film "Birdcage" Rusty was really great as Phil had a clip of the intro to "Birdcage" so Rusty explain to us his part in the opening shot and then hung around and chated with us about his experiences as an operator etc. A Pascoe :)
  4. Hi Phil, I've had my Flyer for about a year now and l have noticed a very slight vertical movement of about 1/2 mm where the "control handle" connects to the "gimbal". Is this the same problem or completly different? It doesn't seem to be an issue when l'm flying a camera but then again l'm no expert operator so l'm not in much of position to make much of a correct judgement. By the way Phil l'm booked into your Flyer Class in Melbourne later this year can't wait !!! Andrew P
  5. l know this is a bit sad but one of the only reasons why l was watching the swimming was for those steadicam shots as the competitors were being introduced, very slow and very smooth!!!! Some of the shots just looked like the cam was on a dolly but l hadn't thought of remote zooming which would help of course. :) Chad P
