  1. i have detected a small latency and occasional trouble with sdi feed sometimes unlocked which means picture sits on screen in 2 parts with bar in middle, turning off and on fixes this, but to date it is my favorite monitor , i have the battery back for vlock more for the feel , the added weight is good for my steadicam,i love it and have become very comfortable with the menu functions, as per usual have 100 settings and use 6 but it is very cool for steadicam , reverse scan , level, luts, sharp , bright, good mounting points,i have a second one i use on location with a bolt sender, the joy of a steadicam op these days where video senders work and bright monitors are in color not green.
  2. i bought a small hd high bright and so far that has been the best monitor i have had , very easy to see in the sunlight ,so easy in fact i have not made any attempt to shade it at all , only downside is cost but it has so many features , even an electronic level so i feel it was worth every penny. SMALL HD HI BRITE
  3. little chemical hand warmers worked good for me ,in plastic just crumble around , texture of crushed cornflakes just dropped them down my jacket ,stayed warm for hours, apart from the fact that when you get in you're stride you tend to be warmer than the average camera guy
  4. i was grateful to early help i received from steadicam operators that i befriended ,they let me walk around the block for countless hours carrying a rig , b4 internet , and any manual, All tools need time to develop, steadicam is not easy but extremely rewarding, i am mentoring a newbie who is good , hopefully on the way to becoming great, showed me some DJI ronin rig work he did , amazing results with very little skill of the machine but a great understanding of the mechanics of cinematography, where as steadicam needs a huge amount of practice to achieve a level horizon for instance before you even start constructing shots , there are a lot of avenues to explore your skill today , even drones are cashing in on the seduction of movement but for me my primary tool will always be my steadicam ,its beautiful simplicity when its in the right hands.
