  1. Hi all, Just to update: Jim sent through a new RX board and I installed it in a few minutes. Price was very reasonable, and as always, fast helpful service. Thanks Jim! BTW, this was my backup unit.
  2. Thanks Victor, useful to hear your experience too. I've only tried the SmallHD OLED inside but had presumed that it wouldn't be great in sunlight. How does the HighBright compare to the OLED picture quality wise? It would be useful to be able to use the monitor as an AC or client monitor when not on the rig.
  3. Thanks Brett, the SmallHD HighBright 7" is tempting, I used the OLED the other day and it was superb, however, the company that owned it had also had battery issues with it. Reliablitiy is priority, so maybe the slightly less "sexy" Marshall is a safer bet!
  4. Thanks guys, much appreciated! I'll check out the recommendations.
  5. I've also owned an V25 and although it obviously can't compete with the higher end rigs, it is very good for the money. It is fairly solid and performs well considering the price. I actually like the socket block and found it easier to adjust than a standard socket block so try it before you decide to change it.
  6. I've sold off my full size rigs and kept my little Flyer LE, but I'm finding the monitor fairly unusable in sunlight. My old greenscreen and Hummingbird obviously spoilt me in this regard! I'm looking for recommendations for a daylight viewable, HD monitor which will balance on the Flyer LE and won't break the bank. I don't need all of the bells and whistle, just something that will take HDSDI and that I can see outdoors. Thanks for any advice! Mike
  7. Thanks guys, I have already emailed Jim. I thought I'd post here in case there is a known issue. I've swapped all cables and motors and everything works fine with the second RX
  8. Hi all, My backup analogue BFD receiver seems to have stopped receiving. I have two complete systems and both transmitters, all cables and motors work fine. I have tried switching every other part and narrowed it down to the receiver unit, however, the broken system calibrates fine and also works when hardwired I have tried all channels and none get any response. There is just an occasional motor “twitch” when switching to and from the channel selected on the the RX unit. Any ideas? I’m in the UK near London so also looking for who is best to got to for service. Thanks Mike
  9. Thanks Noel, useful info. I also recieved an email from Jim which he said I could share: "It is safe. The BFD only draws 3 amps under worst case conditions (very rare). Your FMG-6 motors won't draw over 1.5 amps. Also, amperage ratings on connectors are based on how much current they can be carrying safely when plugged or unplugged, not how much they can carry continuously. I can't think of any instance when you would unplug this cable while drawing 3 amps." I'm going to try the Hirose and if it throws the trip, I'll revert to D-Tap. Thanks.
  10. Is anyone powering an analogue BFD receiver from the 1.8A Hirose on the Sony F5/55? I realise that the spec in the BFD manual as 3A max but wondered if there is a safety margin in that. I'm using FMG 6 motors. I wouldn't normally attempt to exceed a spec but it will make for a tidier rig when switching fro Steadi to handheld. Thanks!
  11. I'm selling my MK-V Evolution sled. It's a great, solid rig with tons of upgrade potential if you need it. It comes complete with the 2 stage, 2" carbon fibre post, V2 advanced gimbal, Hummingbird daylight viewable monitor and battery kit. As with any MK-V rig, all components can be upgraded or switched out as required. A few of the batteries need recelling but the charger is in full working order. The sled comes in a custom flight case and with 2 MK-V docking brackets. The camera shown in the photos is not included. Looking for offers around £6,990 or $11,500 which is an absolute steal. I am registered for VAT in the UK so I will need to charge VAT on top of that unless you are outside the EU or are VAT registered in another EU country. A local buyer would be great and of course, you are welcome to come and inspect it in person. I also have two Bartech remote focus kits that I would sell with the sled. I'm not currently planning on selling them separately. Please contact me: mmarriage (at) orange (dot) net +44 (0) 7773 179773
  12. Hi Charles, Bees has closed but Brian is still repairing arms at another company, I was there a few weeks ago and have the details in my office. I'll dig them out as soon as I'm back if someone doesn't beat me to it. Mike
  13. Hi Jason, I've PMed you. I have a sled for sale in the UK: http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=18094&do=findComment&comment=89966 Yours Mike
  14. Hi guys, I'm selling an MK-V sled here. Not sure it's quite what you need though: http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=18094&hl=evolution
  15. According to Sony, SD composite is coming to the F55/5 via the "Test" out BNC but it is NOT yet implemented in firmeware. So for now, follow Victor's advice. The camera can start to get heavier once the RAW recorder, battery and various base/cheese plates are added but yes, you may neeed a wieght plate depending on lenses and accessories.
  16. I think people are sick of hype and everything being proclaimed as a "game changer." This thread is mostly positive about the product itself with a number of rational reservations. Don't get me wrong, new tools and genuine innovation are great, it's often the BS PR that can leave a bad taste and cause a grumpy backlash.
  17. William, you forgot to point out what a "game changer" this motor will be. ;)
  18. It is always great to see to see new innovations and this will be a great tool for certain shots such as less precise, fast, wide moves. However, I don't see it replacing Steadicam for the majority of applications. Issues being: 1) Requires 2 specialist operators, adding expense. 2) The control appears less precise than Steadicam (partly due to 1). Some of the framing in the demo isn't great. 3) Limited capacity. 4) Cost too high to just "have on the truck" like a GoPro. It costs as much or more than a similar capacity Steadicam. 5) As Charles points out it lacks spatial stabilization. Longer lens work would highlight this. I don't see it as a threat to Steadicam but had I just bought a Tango I may be regretting it. This appears to cover that niche quite well. I would love to put one through its paces in person, I hope to see one in the UK soon.
  19. Price drop: £14,990 or $22,990 Would like to get this sold as I'm investing in other gear at the moment, accepting offers.
  20. Just to add, thanks to a very weak pound, this would be very attractive for overseas buyers. Due to a change of exchange rates my asking price is now £15,500 or $23,300.
  21. Bump. Some interest in the rig and lots in the Bartechs but I would like to sell the sled/arm/vest first.
  22. Hi Bradley, I'm selling a full Ultra Cine rig in the UK but as others as said, you'll need to more than double your budget. PM me if you're interested. Yours Mike
  23. Accepting offers, especially if UK based for a simple sale.
