  1. That new arm looks a lot like Baer Bels old arm. http://shop.strato.de/epages/61417979.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61417979/Products/%22BL%20II%22 Ive had a Baer Bel arm for about 5 years now and it works great. You can tune it down for little cameras like F3s and up for the Alexa all with same spring set. Big boom range, Cool x joint that reduces clattering. I also have a 25 year old mk3 arm that works perfectly and 2 master arms that are great too. Overall though and for versatility, easy maintenance and value the Baer Bel is the one Id pick every time. BTW I do represent Baer Bels gear in the UK Just to throw in the mix Joe
  2. Looking for Master series soft arm bag please. Joe
  3. If using stills lenses including ZFs with focus rings on I would say that the analogue Bartech was the only follow focus worth using. Otherwise you end up tearing the rings off the lens. Hey Thomas good to talk with you earlier. Thought Id just mention that you can adjust the torque setting on the newer digital receiver/motor driver from Bartech, the BDR, from 0 to 100% so in theory shouldnt damage the lens. A lot, lot lighter than the analogue too Hope to see you soon Joe
  4. Hi Ben First you can use an 'f' bracket to put your post down to 12 " lower You can turn the gimbal upside down and secure it with a special little screw if you have it. Next you can modify the vest a little so as you can lower the socket block down a bit if its a front mount vest of course. Put the camera in an extending lo mode cage, do you still have the Baer Bel cage ? The lighter the camera package the lower you go so you could add weight to the base maybe. You can bend your knees :D Hope thats some help Give me a call if you like Joe
  5. Hi Rich do you think the Flyer could handle it in a basic configuration ? Is there anybody making an adaptor so as one could use the normal 4 pin canon power lead ? Have you got any pictures of the set up ? Cheers Joe
  6. Hi Rich welcome to you Anything on your mind at the moment ? Cheers Joe
  7. Hello all bit of an emergency, and I know this has been discussed before. I have a friend who is out on a shoot with an NTSC Varicam. It has a down convertor on it but the 5" Ultra green screen CRT does not like the signal. I think it needs a tweak on the vertical hold and height but I am not at all sure which is the correct pot inside the monitor. Any help or advise would be very warmly welcomed Yours hopefully Joe McNally
  8. Thankyou fellas much appreciated I think I'll go for the $10,000-00 option sounds about right to me ! Or maybe Derrick's is a good ball park Seriously thanks for the help Ive now got an idea of value Cheers and Happy Birthday to you Erwin Joe
  9. Hi Thomas I keep seeing the video you were shooting in that park off the Commercial Road with the two dancers, Looks very nice. Unfortunately I never get to hear the track or see who it is. Can you post a link or something to it please ? Joe
  10. Hi Ben dont forget the courier handling and admin fee around about £50-00 Hope alls good Joe
  11. Ive sold my CP lo mode cage to a friend of mine. Problem is we dont know what its worth. It is the type with the 3 sets of rods for different height cameras in perfect condition. Any thoughts of its value much appreciated Joe
  12. Hi Daniel if you really want to go for an arm post bearing then this might be worth considering http://www.baer-bel.de/deutsch/deutsch.html. Easy to fit and will add a new dimension to your mod 111 of efp arm Joe
  13. The Flyer is not suitable for an HDX900 or a Varicam End of story Joe
  14. is the G70 Arm Better then a PRO, is there a better arm Baer Bel's arm is a worthy contentender. Perfect kit ? Pro arm/Baer Bel/Ultra Pro Sled/XCS TB6 monitor/Tiffen ultrabrite Klassen vest Baer Bel docking bracket Magliner steadi cart PAG Batteries and chargers Bebob zoom BFD Focus kit
  15. Hi All I am a little confused by your problem too. For quite a few years now Baer Bel gimble has been made with a facility to adjust the axis intersection. The photo on ebay has these adjustments There are 6 grub screws to enable this. Simply backing off one or two screws and screwing in the opposite ones gets you to a perfect intersection. Helpful when the post is not perfectly circular. Joe
  16. Thanks Jerry at the moment I am happy with just replacing the part. It seems quite straight forward as the converter just pushes in. It may well of had a more serious knock at some time over the years but my suspicion is that it is just the putting it down on the ground stress. Howevere if you are talking to the Tiffen engineers I would be interested to know if any mods are done to the original part. At the front of the converter it looks like somebody has modified it in some way. It looks like the housing has been opened up and re resined in again Another little question that been bugging me.. the original 5" CRT monitor got broken some time ago and I had it replaced with a pre owned 5" CRT. This later monitor is a 12volt and the older monitor was 24volt. Question, is the later monitor putting more demands on the 24 to 12 converter ? I am based in the UK. I talked with Robin today and all looks possible for a replacement Many thanks for you interest and help Cheers for the moment Joe
  17. Thanks Jerry it is indeed that component at the base of the sled I love the fact that you can put the Ultra down on the ground for a rest now and then. Unfortunately I think this is the reason why the component has failed. I believe the mechanical stress and strain of it being screwed to the bottom dovetail has over time caused it to crack. If and when I have it replaced I think I will try to add some rubber padding or something to the bottom of the sled to help lessen the problem. Many thanks Joe
  18. Still searching for this part Ive tried all the Googles and patents Coming up a bit of a blank Any clues please anybody Desperate to get my Ultra rig going again Joe
  19. Keep your eye on the alighnment of the two little screws. The ones on the same side as the knob. They have a tendency to bend over time and ultimatley snap. Ive replaced mine 3 times over the years. The first sign of the screws failing is the plate slipping down. Brian at Bees Engineering gave me a bag of spares for just such occassions Joe McNally
  20. Hi Ben I dont have any immediate solution but I am sure you know if you send it over to PAG they will generally sort it out gratis if its something faulty. Cheers Joe
  21. Big thanks Will for posting the ad and background information, fascinating. Are you absolutely sure there was not three of the girls, triplets ? If you have a moment Id love to know how you got the wall back so quickly ? Can you posssibly tell me a little more about why the rig length was important getting through the window ? What would you have done differently if the AR was not available ? Do you have the girls phone numbers ? Fabulous shot and inspirational. Joe McNally
  22. Thanks Jerry I have the 24(28)volt batteries. The converter is internal to the Ultra rig. Input nominally 24 volts and output 12volts. It is rated at 150watts. many thanks joe
  23. Thanks Mark and Jason much appreciated I will look into the Alfatronix quick fix solution on Tuesday I have talked to David at Marrell, very helpful, if I cannot find an immediate solution I will send the faulty component to them over the weekend I was just fishing to see if anyone else had had the converter fail and to see where in the world a slot in replacement could be found. Losing out on 24volt work big time at the moment Cheers for now Joe
  24. Just wondered if there are any Tiffen Ultra owners or others who may have a source of a 24 to 12 volt converter ? Mine has broken down and I need a replacement urgently. Thanks for any leads Joe McNally
  25. Hello all not sure if this is in the right category but just wanted to say a few thanks for some great help Ive had over the past few months 1. Brian at Bees Engineering. Thanks for giving my Ultra rig the kiss of life and all the other bits and pieces over the years. Brian is the font of all stabiliser engineering knowledge in UK. 2. Bartech. Robin at Tiffen UK ever patient with all my little requests for spares and information. 4 Rig Engineering. Hugo for posting back my power lead left by a friend in Australia.
