  1. Hi Rusty

Ive done this job twice and its really easy. I cannot remember the exact procedure but stare at it for a while and it all comes good.

Release the tension take out the pin one end will do then put the new spring in. I didnt need to do any ratcheting or stress or straining at all it just pops in. If you feel energetic separate the upper and lower arm sections to make it simpler. Joe

  2. Hey fellas

my Ultra arm is seems to be mostly a Master series arm but... It has a titanium block to marry with the socket on the vest. It is also tools free for side to side adjustment, two knurled thumb screws. Hope that helps all best joe

  3. Hi John

I bought one on of those too. I find it not very sharp and doesnt seem to have any detail enhancement so focusing a bit of a problem. I dont think they are any where near true HD ?

Great brightness wise very happy as also use it on my Jimmyjib.

Do you know how the backlight/contrast thing is supposed to do ? I can not seem to make it work

It gets quite hot does yours ?

Overall very happy with it and might buy a couple more soon

    Best for now

  4. Hi Brandon

so as far as I understand and from experience the crimped joint is less prone to breakdown than solder.

Solder can and does easily crack and fail when stresssed mechanically.

A good crimped joint can be twisted and turned a lot before breakdown of course it assumes a good crimp in the first place.

Also, in theory, the digital signal should be all or nothing but Ive found in practice there a a few irritations that can happen before total loss of signal. Sparkling on longer lengths. Tearing of the picture as the signal gets weaker. Loss of high frequencies (detail)

    All best

  5. Hey Aaron

wow, feel for you and hard to know without being there.

    My thoughts

I think you always need to offer a solution if you cannot achieve a shot, goes for everything not just steadicam.

So maybe a suggestion to the split the shot up a little ?

Had you been eating well before working ?

A good nutrition drink might of helped.

Any possibility you could have walked forward ? I find walking back best for framing but occassionly you have to let it go a little.

Could you have reduced the load a little ? What camera package was it ?

I personally dont think any ammount of extreme training should be necessary for working, good to be fit of course, but its not an Olympic event its just a days work remember.

Hope thats of some help or opens up possiblities

    All best

  6. OK I didnt see the second video til now and its not great Im afraid ! Good subject to practice though. Were you walking forward and shooting sideways ? Seem like you were going up amd down a bit of a hill there so quite difficult to maintain constant distance. Easiest get out would to stop down the lens. Try marking out the circle you are travelling around the post. Try the opposite direction too and try to watch the camera postion rather than getting fixed on the monitor. Hope thats helpful

  7. The guys and girls at Preston very kindly got back to me on this and the answer is yes "Unless you are using an old UHF transmitter, where the battery is integrated into the transmitter (not detachable) you are fine with using the charger on a 240V AC supply. The system is designed to adapt to the different AC supplies."

  8. Hello forum

Ive just bought a used Preston kit

It comes with a Preston fast charger.

There is no indication on the outside of the charger to say if it can be used on a 240 volts or just 120v. I wondered if anybody new if this was possible, like a universal charger ?

The input is through a 3 pin kettle/IEC lead.

    Many thanks for any help.

Also looking for some power leads for the MDR 1 for this kit if anyone has upgraded and has some to sell

    All best

    Joe
