Today i received a complete new monitor from Tiffen. I was just returned from a corperate shoot and put directly the monitor on the Rig. Miror is now possible and works great. The shot last week went however well and was great considering the mis-orientation of left/right.. Thanks Robin and thanks to Tiffen for this great customer service !!! Best, Erik Hi Erik You are welcome, I thought the alternative mirror brain flip surgery might be a bit drastic. Robin

Dynamic Balance with EFP fixed battery - help!
RobinThwaites replied to John E Fry's topic in Steadi-Newbies
Hi John The JVC seems to work quite well especially if you have the 12 volt battery adaptor. Be prepared for it to be quite long though. Two batteries on the sled are the way to go and probably more sticking out backwards than some of the lighter cameras. i still think you should come to the workshop - sorry, shameless plug - and bring both rigs to play with. Hi Erik Send an email to my desk and I will pick it up when I get back from Russia next week. Re the rubber bumper, just glue it back on. Super glue will do it but makes the rubber go hard and I don't like super glue around gimbals, EvoStik (rubbe rbased impact adhesive) would be better. Robin

Dynamic Balance with EFP fixed battery - help!
RobinThwaites replied to John E Fry's topic in Steadi-Newbies
Hi John What monitor and battery combination are you using? If I can see a picture of the bottom of your sled it would be useful. Either here or e-mail me at my desk robin.thwaites@tiffen.com. Have you thought about a Workshop? I have one running 6th June. Robin -
Amando You are far too kind! Robin

Hi Greg Is this a 6 spring arm or a G-70? Robin

Broadcast quality wireless
RobinThwaites replied to Norm Stone's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
Hi Norm Not sure where in the world you are but the ones mentioned by Jason are the standard BROADCAST, not monitoring quality units used in Europe. "There are wireless triax systems out there from Gigawave, Link Research, Thomson/Grass Valley, and others. These are all usually integrated as part of the truck's camera kit. They work extremely well, and are the norm for most Steadicam applications nowadays on OBs. Antennae are getting smaller, cameras are getting lighter, range is increasing and line of sight is no longer as much a neccessity as before." Robin -
Matt If you are doing a lot of this sticks to Steadicam stuff lash out on a Sachtler touch and go plate and put it on top of the Steadicam dovetail plate, you can swap in seconds and be close to correct balance every time. Robin

Hi Colin You mention Archer and 4 pin, are you using the 4 pin Hirose to power the camera? The Lemo would be better. XD Cams do draw quite a lot of current and NiMH batts have a shallow curve meaning that the camera low battery setting activates early. Robin

Hi Guys I have balanced an HVX-200 on the Merlin, all weights on, 2 memory cards (they are heavier than tape and sit high) small battery and no wide angle. You definitely dont want long shots but the arm and vest will help when available. Robin Thwaites

Hi Rich You can achieve dynamic balance with the Flyer with cameras ranging from the Z-1 to the DSR-450 (was demonstrastrating that one yesterday). The drill is to angle the battery mount downwards instead of backwards. I have yet to try the HVX but any accessories that you can add for extra weight will be helpful. Robin
