OMG thank you for this photo. I'm having a similar issue, trying to get my Steadicam Solo dialed in with my Nikon D600, and it never occurred to be to dig out my Super Clamp and use it. That's helped resolve a big part of my problem, I guess trying to hand hold it and make tiny adjustments is as bad as leaving the lens cap on, there's really no way to do it handheld, you can't hold it steady enough.
