I think you guys are making this out to be much more complicated than it needs to be. If you are just trying to listen, that is pretty easy with an IFB. If you are looking for a communication solution and need to also talk, it is a lot more complex.
I think your best bet is to use the packs provided. Otherwise you need to purchase your own wireless comms system (wireless pack and base station), then integrate it at every location (assuming you are working multiple locations). I recommend you look at HME packs. I like the BP850 pack the most. It offers multiple channels. You would be able to configure the primary buttons to talk with truck - You can also assign a secondary button to speak pack to pack (you would be able to put your assist on a pack and have private conversation). You can get a belt pack with either 5 or 4 pin. Personally I would purchase a 5 pin headset and carry a 5 to 4 pigtail for when needed.
Comms companies don't play along, just like camera companies don't play along. You can't throw a DVCProHD tape in an Arri Alexa, and they will never develop a single form of media...
Even with the pinouts correct, you will still run into issues depending on what type of mic is in the headset (dynamic, electrolet, etc...) On a camera you can adjust that by a menu, but with a belt pack, you often need to open it up and change an internal setting - if you can change it at all.

How was IO and convergence adjusted?

Whats up Jess!
Did you contact anton bauer? I am curious about what they have to say.

OOPS! I made a bad typo. I'm flying the Nexus these days. Same issue though so sounds to not be isolated to Genesis only. I demoed the Genesis a while back and had tons of sparkles in screen using a marshal monitor. Was told by howard it was just a demo unit and rig purchased would be fine.
ps. It feels to be back on the forum! I stepped away from steadicam for almost 2 years but i'm back ;)

Wow! Good seeing you on here, Phil. You obviously did an awesome job. Best in the business. Hope all is well.

I would like to know if any of my fellow MK-V owners have had issues with HD signal in the V3 electronics? My HD-SDI signal blacks out when ever a walkie talkie is keyed anywhere near my rig. I assume its a simple shielding issue that upsets the HD signal momentarily to my monitor. This is a real problem as an AD is usually cueing over the radio at the start of a take. Anyone else see this problem that owns a 4 stage, 2" post and the V3 boxes?
Jeff
Jeff,
I am also using the genesis these days with same issue. Using transvideo cineHD monitor. As of now I run a thin bnc from camera to monitor if reliable hd signal is needed. I'm curious if he comes up with a reasonable solution. Let me know.

Does anyone know how much the vislink system would be?

I have to be downtown by 4p most days...

I suppose sometimes the best solution is the most simple!
thanks

Has anyone mounted the Panasonic HPG20 Recorder to their rig? most likely using their optional camera mount?
Just wondering if anyone has seen this mount in person. By the way, the recorder is pretty sweet... HD-SDI in with embedded audio...

bummer, but I think I can only be there on the 5th, but we will see.

Jess, Im going to try making it. I have family in town that weekend so i'm just not sure yet.

The cost of my 6ft was $630 USD.

I think Leslie Hicks is the contact there but they know what a Steadicam jumper is. 5 ft or 6 ft.
Is this a reliable jumper? Has anyone had one fail yet? I'm also looking for a good cable to use w/ the HDC1500. Reliability is my biggest concern.

Most people will be at the SOC awards tomorrow evening... bad timing... BTW who is going to the Oscars??? Not me...
very true. the 21st is a busy night.

Thankfully BJ is out of town....damn troublemaker! He'd never clear the extensive security screening.
haha he would have to zipline to the roof from another building or something.
hey shane, you know you are always invited. leave the snow behind!

I mentioned it to a couple of you last week at the rainbow bar but did not have many details.
If any of you would like to hangout this saturday evening at my place, I am having a little get together with people from the area. it will be a good time. It will be @ 1010 Wilshire Blvd.
Email me asap if you think you will make it so i can give your names to security.

Sorry I missed it. I'm flying into LA wednesday for the SOC awards. Anyone, Ride motorcycles? I'm thinking of renting one while I'm out there.
How long will you be in town? I might have my ducati back in the next couple weeks...

So Steadicamforum may now be in a gang war with who knows who the hell that was but if I may say so myself a good time was had by all. Hopefully that thumb and those fingers heal quickly. Thanks for the great time and I hope to do it again soon.

Thanks Marc
I bet you are right! although no steadicam at first... :(
I have an extra Master Series rig in LA if you need a Steadicam. Give me a call if I can help.
Thanks John, but i'll be putting down the rig for awhile to focus my attention on a new position within the ESPN studios downtown. Hopefully I will pick it up again by spring.

interesting. thanks for the info. I have a lot to learn about the area but from what i've heard, 10 to 20 minutes sounds pretty good for commuting time.

on 2/7 i'll be relocating to the LA area. Not sure where I will be living. I have a lot to learn about the different neighborhoods I suppose. I was thinking of either downtown (i'll be working @ LA Live) or Los Feliz?
Anyways, I look forward to throwing a party once i'm in town!

What type of bracket did you use to attach the monitor to that original swivel plate? I find without the original CRT, the little plate will swivel right off the rig (maybe i'm missing some sort of bumper...)

I have zero desire to carry more stuff so I use what we already have. You have a ton of steadicam batteries right? Wy not use them?
I agree. Anton Bauer has many ways to do this including a power inverter so you have AC.... Hell you can even lay their new solar panel in the sun and go green!
