  1. Matthias, Please add my name on the list. Thanks, Jay Kim
  2. Pro has HD upgrade price as $3,825. http://www.progpi.com/pdf/pricelist/ HD Upper J Box $1,260 HD Lower J Box $1,900 And, the rest probably goes to replace the post cable.
  3. I need a PRO Gen 2 Lower J-Box. Call me at 917-415-4200 or email me at jsteadicam@me.com
  4. Now I just need PRO lower Junction box. Please email me at jsteadicam@me.com or call me at 917-415-4200.
  5. Or you can use a Panasonic's AF100 with it but you can only record 8-bit HD422 due to AF100's internal data limitation. However, you still get uncompressed HD422 files instead of AVCHD compressed files.
  6. I don't think "it is a bit overkill for what's needed in a playback deck" because, compare to other camera mounted (field) recorder, it is really cheap. Please check the following comparison chart made by AbelCine. http://blog.abelcine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Recorder_Comparison_Chart_051611.pdf The cheapest uncompressed deck except BlackMagic Hyperdeck is Conversion Gemini ($6,295). Personally I think ProRes HQ 422 or LT is fine for playback but If I can get a uncompressed QT recorder, why not. People buy compressed Qt file recorder because they cannot afford CODEX, S2 or even Cinedeck (uncompressed QT is even option for this $9K recorder). I see the ways to use this recorder and it is really fantastic option for its price. Case 1: Use with Alexa. Connect a Hyperdeck to Alexa's REC OUT A or B HD-SDI Connector and record Uncompressed 422 1.5G YCbCr. It is probably a better quality option than Alexa's SxS Pro Card recorder which only records ProRes QT. However, you cannot record ARRIRAW since it requires HD-SDI Dual Link connection. Case 2: Use with Sony F3 Connect a Hyperdeck to F3's HD-SDI out connector and Record Uncompressed 422 QT which has a much better quality than it's MPEC-2 MP@HL (35Mbps/VBR). The only problem I see from the above two cases is the editor may beg you to give your uncompressed QT to them instead of you begging them footages to edit your reel.
  7. I have a original Gold sled (1.5" post with 3 Anton Bauer battery option) and a Gold arm. It was a really good value at the time I bought it and it is still one of the best professional systems in the mid-priced range (less than $30,000). I saw their new sled with 2" post and all HD-SDI wiring at NAB this year which added much better rigidity than the 1.5" post when I test it. They also had a new prototype X-45 arm which can carry more weight than a Gold arm . They haven't update their website for a long time for GC Gold products so you won't get much information from there. I know they will be at Cinegear so try it yourself if you can make it. Fly Safe! 10. Nice to meet another Korean operator here!

  11. If they asked me put the above-pictured camera on my sled, I rather just walked away than struggle to balance -)
  12. Wow! Those cables look quite messy! I cleaned the cables later for the shooting. Thanks for the advice, Afton. Ugrip was really sweet accs for the steadicam work to mount Red Drive on the bottom Rods. However, it was a heavy rainy day when I use a Ugrip so the camera was covered by raingear and you cannot see Ugrip. I only use the Ugrip to mount the Red Drive since camera was powered from the sled and we had only Zeiss Ultra Primes with clip-on mattboxes ( I was lucky!) so balancing wasn't that much of issue. We got the camera from ISIS New York, and those guys had very sweet accs and Matt Roeger from ISIS did a great job taking care the camera.
  13. I just finished 3 day steadicam work for 50cent's new feature film in NJ wtih RED One. I was lucky enough to have Terry West's Red power cable, Bartech BFD Run/Stop cable, Element Technica's Topside Combo with light weight 15mm rods and SDI Breakout box, and AJA HD10MD3 downconverter. Since we had one camera dedicate to mostly steadicam work, I build the camera with Element Technica's top side combo with cheese plate for low mode and bottom cheese plate for regular mode (both with light weight Element Technica's 19mm & 15mm rods). We also used Ugrip for the Red Drive and it worked great. I didn't have much issue with the camera even we had very long shooting days with some hot and some heavy rainy weather.
  14. Terry West made a Red power cable for my Glidecam Gold (Sled Camera Power out, Lemo 3 pin 1B303, to Red One Power in, 2B306) and it worked fine. Great Job! Terry. I didn't use y-cable since my Glidecam Gold can send power from two batteries (same as a 24 volt camera) so I can swap one battery at a time without tuning the camera off. I also got a Run/stop cable for my Bartech BFD and it worked like a piece of a Brooklyn cheese cake. Thanks Jim! I connect it to Red One Aux 12v power output port 1(Lemo 0B304). Here are some pictures from the set.
  15. It seems like you pay 7000 Yen for 1 day rental not 70,000 Yen. It is actually $67. Check this link. http://www.videoservice.tv/new.htm Price I found in Japan is around 554,400 yen which is actually $5294. Thanks, Jay Kim

  18. I just put my Glidecam Gold vest on E-Bay. It is very good condition since I don't wear it that often. It is a non-reserve auction and brand new vest sells for $2500. Here is the link to the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3857890158 Reason for Sale : I got a backmounted vest from Walter Klassen. SOLD!
  19. I got it and it works great and simple! Thanks, Jay
  20. Hi Peter, I haven't received mine yet. I sent you e-mail but, just in case you didn't receive it, here is my shipping address. Jay Kim Brooklyn College Film Department 2900 Bedford Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11210
  21. I got mine from J&R at $419 (not bad price at all). And, I just asked Fred to make a custome Y cable from Lemo 4pin(12v + Video) to DC input & Video input of Archos AV320. It is less resolution than mini DV camcorder, such as SONY PD5, but at least I don't need to use any tapes. Moreover, I can use it as a portable video player for my 2 1/2 years old daughter when we are on a trip.
