  1. Hi Erwin, I'm not sure about the Panaglide on matrix. If the operarator was Robby Aganus, the the rig is a home made affair. He is into engineering. Can't say I've seen the rig. Back to panaglide pics, there was a great one on the forum some time back of Steve Martin holding one during the Jerk. Macca
  2. Hi Erwin Thanks for the advice. I will contact the SOA about the letters. alll the best Macca
  3. Stephen, Not a bad idea. Perhaps a history Topic. I'm sure there is someone closer than me (Australia) who has copies, but if not I could send them over. There is some great reading in them. Macca
  4. Hey Erwin, Nice stuff. Just checked my filing cabinet and I have steadicam letters from '89-'95 plus a manual for the Model II. (Inc wiring specs.) Macca
  5. Tim Cancell that request. Found it Thanx again Macca
  6. Hi Tim, First let me thank you for the new forum. I don't know if you remember but I had to wait ages for the old one to load up so I almost gave up. This is working real fast. One minor problem though. The forum has my location correct (Australia) but the Local time is out by half a day. Any sugestions on how to reset it. Thanx macca
  7. Hi Leigh, Macca here from Melbourne, also grew up in Maroocchydore. Unfortunately its all true. You need the real thing to see how your rig will react or to do an arm stress test there is dive weights. You should contact Cameraquip in Brisbane. They have all the gear there and will not mind if you you want to go play with gear on their premises. If you think of upgrading to a larger rig then here is one for sale in the classifieds. I know the owner, great bloke. All the best Macca Cameraquip Ph 07 3854 1919

  11. Hey Robby What are you doing in Thailand? Ian mc Millan (Macca)
  12. Hi Lads and Ladies I won't get into the politcal argument. A standard comment down here in Oz years ago came from a US producer. "You guys are cheaper than the Mexicans" What can I say? There's great film makers all over the world and I don't think anybodies professional integrity should be questioned but at the end of the day we all work for the producer, wherever they want to work. Ian mc Millan (Macca)
  13. Well Larry, I wont try and top that. But a great shot for its subtlety was done down here in oz by Ian Jones on Dead Calm. (Nicole Kidman, Billy Zane and Sam Neale) Its lo mode across the deck of the yacht shooting a rope. The rope trails off the side of the yacht and down into the water. Ian walks across the deck onto a plank that is supported in the water by a zodiac. he is lowered by the grips on a line from the mast. all the way down to put the camera inches above the water. Time and weather dictacted one take. its great. You'll have to watch the film to find out the importance of the rope. Buy the way Larry, at the SOA workshop I did with you in '90 you gave us a great lesson on dealing with directors. I'ts been invaluable. Thanks Ian Mc Millan (macca)
  14. Hey Ruben, I have to agree. The best thing about DVD is the EPK guys are cleaning up. What used to be a 3 day gig is now taking as long as main unit. I can recommend the doccos on the Lawrence of Arabia DVD. These show how hard that crew worked. 15 grips pushing a dolly the size of a freight train. Take care all Ian Mc Millan (Macca)
