What Jerry forgot to say is that they ONLY teach a Tiffen-centric course. Which is fine if you're going to limit yourself to Tiffens offerings

Had a long talk with the fine folks at AB including the product manager for the Dionic line at IBC. They understand our concern and are coming up with a solution which sounds like they are going to do a Steadicam specific run of "Old style" Dionics every year. In the mean time they do have stock of "Our" style batteries.

Alan, that's incorrect about the independent contractor status. First off it's a 1099 job you are by definition an Independent contractor. Secondly according to the IRS we are Independent Contractors as operators because we "Materially participate in the creation of art". IE even though the shot is described to us we put our interpretation on it

Both your starting bid and buy it now prices are hugely optimistic

I've seen this movie before..... Jeffery is trying to advertise without advertising.
Jeffery, what chipsets are you using? Aminom, or crystal video?

Nick, we had both the boxx and the teradek's on my last show and we ended up leaving the boxx's in their case. performance is very similar. I wouldn't hesitate to use either, we just found for our work style and set sizes that it was more convenient to use the teradek's

I have a bolt and a bolt 2000. Both work exactly as intended and Teradek has great customer support. verdict? Major hit!

Just make sure that when using antlers you don't hit the actor with them....
Disclaimer, I don't use antlers and never have, I just know of a few instances of it happening and the operator being sacked

The master series wasn't good when it came out you'd be better suited to spend your money elsewhere

It's in the monitor, I've talked to mike about this. It drove us mad on my last show. We had to drill down I think five menus on the monitor and select 1080p in a menu relating to 1080i or p

I've found teradeks customer service to be on par with PRO and Preston.

Saw the Maxima.... Pretty damn cool. Christian Betz and I have had some interesting conversations about it

For sure! We envisioned this to mostly be a tool to help operators frame shots in difficult situations when the camera is mounted on a platform (Drone, cars etc.), awkward angles or to help track fast relative motion between operators and subjects. We were thinking of ways to make the actual operation easier while leaving the creative control and framing with the operator.
If operating was easy everyone would do it.

That's what operators are for.
Like they say Drum machines lack soul and so do Autonomous framing and subject tracking computers

Tiffen has a really strange idea about "Modular" since it won't play with any of the other "Modular" rigs on the planet. And lets not forget the 1.56" center post was for "Increased rigidity" when they (Okay CP) adopted it for the Master series. The real reason was so that PRO owners couldn't use a CP Gimbal when they and I quote "Shopped in the valley"

So true Charles the LW was amazing, flip it rotate the monitor and spin the rig, you're done. that's it's. With proper prep the Alexa is like that.
I guess that's the take away from this. PREP the gear and its easy it should be sub 2 mins, don't prep the gear and pay the price. Hell with a prepped package My first and I once took a Panavision Millennium from studio to steadicam in less than two mins.... The entire crew had the stopwatch on us on that one and that shot was used for four season in the titles

SR3, Pro sled TB-6 monitor. It was less than 20 seconds. AD called "Lock it up" and then "rolling" I was back for "marker". That setup was ideal and why I like short posts you never needed to move the gimbal. Flip the camera flip the monitor throw on a Low mode bracket and you were good to go

What did you achieve with using that over what a decent steadicam operator can do? I see no advantage for all the trouble and additional rig length (which is comedically long)

You photo is of a D-box2 not a D-box1which used large brass gibs not the linear barings of the D-box 2. I've owned at least one of each one PRO built. The current D-box 2 is an update of the original D-box2. Maybe we should call the new one the D-Box2S
