New price, $20,000

Has anyone used the plates yet? How far forward will they allow you to move the camera? I've been having all kinds of problems with Alexa's having the balance all over the place.
That's what I designed them for Dan.
-
Get the docking collar from Greg it has a stop pin that acts as a safety for the UCP locking ring which the docking ring is best under
-
(though I'm not sure how the gen III has any sort of fine tuning for dynamic balance.)
You mean that big silver clamp that locks the rear batteries in place?
-
Not exactly a promise, but I'll stand corrected if that makes you feel better. We're not going to start throwing stones over missed delivery dates are we?
Greg's quote was "The monitor is called the XCS TB7 and it will be out before years end." It will is a promise

Right here Afton.... http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=17277&p=90523

Wasn't this the monitor he promised to ship in October? And what about price? The PDL is $12K (yes TWELVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS)

You take things way too seriously. Why don't you have a beer and relax before you give yourself a heart attack.
I'm relaxed just laughing at your pointless posts about gear you have no experience with

exactly what I expected from you. Betting that you have next to no experience with a preston and haven't used the ET/RED system either but you'll shill for them
-
Define "out performs" because what I've seen that would be one helluva stretch.
Between shitty ergonomics and motors that went exactly powerhouses I'd say that ET and red are targeting the DSLR market. And really Lanc? Who needs that?
-
Awesome deal for awesome performers Mike, nice job with the three versions to tailor to needs/budget!

I was trying to say more and more people can get perfect shots without years of practicing
Just because your horizon is level and you have tamed roll and headroom doesn't mean that you can get perfect shots or are a great operator. And I would hazard to say has you missing the point of what an operator does.
Operating is about framing and timing and feel and emotion. It's about what you do between the marks that makes you an operator.

I think he bankrupted it and started a new one.
Pretty Much

For those reading the Facebook threads and not understanding some of the discontinuity of replies, well it's because Howard has deleted his Facebook profile.
waiting to see what he does here.

Jim I remember when your were finishing up the BarTech one of my motors was used, that's my claim to your fame and that's where it ends.
CONGRATS on building a kickass product for 15+ years and continuing to deliver product
And screw Howard and his lies

I remember searching for some information and got few hits with "Howard James Smith", "Howard J Smith" and "Howard Smith".
Here's one about the roll cage but it's an application only, maybe a further clicking would tell if it's granted: https://www.google.com/patents/US20050167558?hl=fi&cl=en
You can click the name of the inventor and you'll get further documents.
I sure woulnd't want to be the patent clerk reading the dusty papers in a cellar and examine the drawings with a magnifying glass.. 9 hours a day..
Howard's "Patent" is an application he doesn't have a patent as he claims, and he's been making quite a few claims of gear he's developed that he hasn't including taking credit for "inventing" the BarTech
To learn more about this read Dan Kneece's post on Facebook https://facebook.com/groups/2247691628?view=permalink&id=10152067285896629
And Peter Abrahams post here. https://facebook.com/groups/2247691628?view=permalink&id=10152061233496629
Be sure to expand all the comments It gets very interesting and not in a good way for Howard

I'm sorry Alan isn't availble to post right now. His mind has been blown.
Go back and reread Chris and mines posts. We alluded to it a few times
Why do you think I knew about smallHD's delivery schedule?
-
So have I. No response
-
Actually the Patent was bought by Tiffen from Lynn.My statements regarding ownership of Lyn's Patent, however, is 100 % accurate.
As for Chris "actualizing" the patent concept, you short change Lynn's original work which includes a fully working device
-
How does MK-V fit into this, do they use the patent or pay for it?
Well Howard has never paid anything. He's only ripped Lynn off and claims that HE has a patent on the MK-V AR and when pressed for patent numbers he will never cite them. A patent search also shows no Patents for Howard Smith or MK-V. There is a Howard Smith with two patents but he's a doctor and it's for medical devices.

Thanks for the link Peter. I read (skimmed) the patent, and it didn't see a definition of which motors would be used to drive the stabilizer. Judging by the age of the patent, 1999, I would safely assume them to be servo motors, as opposed to brushless ones that Abad is using. Would the patent still be applicable? (I'm assuming yes?) And if so, where does the line be drawn?
I predict that a lot of 3rd party companies are going to try to make their own version of what Abad did.
Actually it was a brushless motor, and Chris didn't exactly "invent" it Peter he just built a version of a prior art

Tell the DP you need to change his choice of lenses because you said yes to a job and don't have the proper gear....
That's going to go over well
