  2. Hope you had a great birthday Jeff! Bry
  3. Oops....sorry Alfeo just noticed your main rig is made by Tiffen.....bets are off. LOLOL!!! ; )
  4. Alfeo...wanna bet sleds GER wins over ARG on Saturday? : )
  5. Henry: Of course I'm cheering for Germany on Saturday : ) ......... I predict it to be the best match of the cup between classic rivals. Bo: Brother I'm envious...I would give my left nut to shoot World Cup. I'm sure my brethren who shoot live tv will all agree that 45mins of straight operating is not overwhelming. Yes, one must build up the physical stamina over time but this is a challenge we face often. We all have little techniques that make it work. We should have a World Cup of Steadicam Operating one day....but no drug testing : ) Bry
  6. Ok this might be a very silly question but....why would they NOT have a zoom/focus module when shooting live tv with wide angle broadcast lenses? ... these guys always shoot Soccer....non? The very first game of the World Cup during the Anthems I could see every single footstep in the shot and was mortified. Others have been nice and smooth and have actually used the lens....how can there be this inconsistency on such a high profile event from what I would assume to be top operators within that particular circle of work? Ohya...GER vs ARG party at my place in Toronto this Sat July 3rd : ) Cheers All! Bry
  7. Just thought I'd chime in here and second what Claus is saying about the G-Zoom. Really enjoying the unit and it performs very well. Love the cabling options to either use my BFD and M-One for focus or the option of plugging straight into a broadcast lens with an internal focus servo. Anyone who isn't a huge fan of the Stanton zoom/focus (like me) I highly recommend the G-Zoom. Also please note, Erik's customer service has been fantastic, which we all know is super important to us steadi freaks. Cheers! Bry
  8. Very interesting concept. After watching the posted video on freshdv.com.....I wonder how stable the horizon is during movement. Looks like the horizon goes off, much like when you swing a pole cam. A very curious project! Looking fwd to seeing how this develops. Thanks for the NAB updates guys! Bry
  9. Sometimes broadcast shops refuse to spend money on accessories.....the operator could very well be just working with what they give him unfortunately.
  10. I have noticed when I check the forum from my iPhone.....I can't see the recently posted thread titles etc beside each topic. I miss that...I often read the forum from the mobile device. Bry
  11. Ah, just got it. Bobcrone@shaw.ca Cheers ! Bry
  12. I'm working with David Crone right now. Email me and I'll find Bob's contact info and pass it on. Reach me at Trieb@me.com. Bry
  13. Greetings all! Curious to know if any Klassen harness owners have ever had any problems flying with the Harness in its soft bag. Trying to eliminate one hardcase for a travel gig..... Opinions? Thanks! Bry
  14. I believe Walter has this on file if you would like to have it for your Harness. It's worked very well for both Triax and Fibre connectors. Give him a call!
  15. Hi Edmond, contgrats on getting a steadicam gig! Daily shows are great for putting time in the rig, becoming comfortable with it. My first tv series with my steadicam was also a daily cooking show many years ago so this brings memories for me. I would suggest you invest in some triax to coax connectors and a 7ft (or length to your taste) very thin 75 ohm coax cable so you may decrease the drag on your rig that the triax is making. I would also suggest you try to get a focus controller that works with your zoom control. Eventually they will want you to zoom into close ups of the food and you will want focus control event though you're on a wide angle lens. Hope you fly safe and enjoy your experience and don't eat too much of the food on set!!! Best Regards, Bryan
  16. Just adding my 2 cents in agreement with the advice mentioned to raise the harness. Also, once raised, remember to double check it throughout the day because under load it may go lower a little at times. I shoot a lot of live stuff and find the Klassen harness to give me major advantage in this arena over the front mounts, but everyone's different. If you find yourselves with more live gigs and you own a Klassen harness, Walter can hook you up with a nice little triax/fiber cradle which can be mounted on the lower back side of the harness. Peace! Bry
  17. Hello all, So I'm in discussion with OBS to shoot the 2010 winter games. I haven't received the official contract yet, but there's one sticking point that's really making me stop and wonder which is.....they do not want to insure my gear. They claim this is standard practice for a show and event of this magnitude, and all vendors who are supplying gear are subject to this same policy. I'm very interested to hear any experiences or knowledge from those who've been involved with the games as part of the OBS crew in the past. Thank you, Bryan
  18. Hey Rob!! Yes, I have to take the connector out each time. I like your idea of the entire freedom cube being removed with connectors attached and hanging on the stand/cart. With my bracket, the connectors remove quickly and easily and I also hang the connectors on my cart......your idea seems a little more efficient however!
  19. Hey Guys! I had Walter Klassen make a little bracket which is attached to the lower left side on the back of my harness for this same purpose. It holds both triax and fibre for multicam. I've not tried it with an HD/Film application but for "live" it's proven to be a real gem.
  20. The gym can be boring. It is however convenient if one's schedule doesn't allow for team sports, or if snow/ice in winter prevents one from cycling as Rob suggests. In my experience, the best resistance training exercises for steadicam operation are: Squats (either olympic or sumo style) Lunges Hyperextensions (like a reverse sit-up) As many abdominal exercises as you can handle. Cardio Cardio Cardio. Remember, it's not about how much weight you lift....rather precise technique! When I first began operating steadicam with a Master's Harness...I created a gym routine focused around the above exercises and after a few months was noticing a big difference while in the rig. Hope this helps!
  21. Neal's right, now I feel bad for laughing at first.....I think it was the shoes that got me!
  22. I don't see what's so funny.....these are the rigs we use up here in Canada. Please email me for a demo. HAHA....honestly, this made my day...thanks for the laugh! Bry
  23. Thanks Brother! Going to save the drinking for the wrap party, since 2 drinks gets me hammered nowadays! Tell your better half I send a Birthday wish, and for her to have continued strength to put up with you! LOL! Respekt! Bry
