About Me
Started out with one of those handheld flycams. The weight of my rigs increased to the point where i needed an arm and a vest, so i got one of those cheap arm and vest setups from wallimex. This was the worst kind of sunken cost, because i realised, i'd need a propper sled for the support system to be viable. I got one of those terrible Came TV 2-12KG stabilisers, since it fit the arm. And oh my god was that a mistake.
My initial thought process was to get the Steadycam Operators Handbook and a cheap Setup to practice with during Lockdown. But i spent most of that time trying to fix the gimbal misalignment, caused by the shotty gimbal element, than i got to actually use the darn thing. At this point i bought a new Gimbal unit, which is a tiny bit less broken than the one i got initially.
So yeah. currently trying to fix this forsaken piece of junk by replacing the center bearing and so i can sell it to somebody who i will force to listen to this cautionary tale.
I make a living doing animation and motion design, which is how i finance this passion of mine.
