I knew there was no image flip but my assistant didn't. She was trying to help and went into the menus. Pressed something she shouldn't have. I've been holding off from buying a back up monitor, but now I am purchasing one this week.

After hours of trying to figure it out, I somehow got it working. I held the menu button while powering up. I have been cursing at this monitor since shortly after I bought it. Fingers crossed for the rest of the shoot.

Help! I have the black screen of death. My assistant went to change image flip in the menu and pressed the wrong buttons. None of the above works. I've tried three firmware updates from different years. (the oldest and newest) The factory reset did not work. No cinetronic logo came up....
Any other suggestions????

Hello,
Don't worry about your height. Most steadicams can be set up and balanced to achieve the height of 6'6 person. My two vests are Pro - I stuff em in there. And the one I wear the most is Walter Klassen. He's made me a cross your heart style vest.
However, if you are leaving in October, you don't have much time to buy -let alone practice. If you are just trying steadicam out on this shoot, I'd rent something suitable for the weight of the camera and style of shooting. If you are wearing it all day following someone consider renting a light-weight rig. Remember learning to balance your sled is key!
When you decide you love doing steadicam, look into a course and the cost of more expensive professional gear.

Thank you Frederic! A rental house has lent me a Bartec untill I get a new one. Us operators are in a better spot these days as there is usually a remote focus on set already. Needless to say, I am pretty bumbed out. It's a big financial loss for me, but noone was killed... or got hurt. So life goes on.

For me, I had to reinstall the firmware update then punch a bunch of buttons to put the monitor back to factory reset, then a firmware update again, repeat. And finally I got an image again. Unfortunately, it happened while I was out of town so it wasn't an easy fix as I had to track down someone with a PC and a computer degree. Chris should be able to talk you thru it.
