  1. Hello everyone! As a person who does a lille bit of ballroom dancing I sometimes wonder how dancing may help steadicam operator to bring more finess to his body movement, footwork etc.. If any of you tried ballroom dancing or any other kind of dancing, did you trensfer any skills between dancing and steadicm operating or vise versa? Please share your thoughts.
  2. Hello everybody! I know, this can't be called a professional job by any means. This is just the kind of stuff I do a lot. Filming is more of a sport for me at his point - trying to achieve better resaults just for the sake of it. Here's a couple of dances filmed at ballroom dancing party (social dancing, not professional). This is full improvisation both on dancers part as well as mine. Music is original, synced in post. This is filmed with a cheap chineese rig. I want to get some opinions
  3. Hi! I also use low end rig (modified handheld stabilizer & vest). When I bought my vest I specifically looked for adjustable arm socket. I bought a cheap back mount vest with adjustable arm socket and I can really tell this feature is a must have. It really makes rig nicer to wear and more usable.
  4. Hello everyone! I want to find best angles for both sections of my arm. I am doing it by feel and intuition now and it seems to work better with lower section angled slightly downwards and upper section angled slightly upwards. Am I doing it right, or is there a better way to do it?
  5. Hello everyone! We all know that good quality equipment is highly desirable. But for people like me, who aren't in the industry, good rigs are too expensive to even be justified fot the kind of job we do. So here comes the question: how far can you push crappy equipment by training and grinding? And how can you tell when it really starts to hold you back?
  6. Thanks. I'll probably try that. My cable being HDMI is pretty stiff so it doesn't flop around. I don't do a lot of whip pans, but I want my rig to pan reasonably flat.
  7. Hello everybody! As a poor guy I use low end hanheld stabilizer which does not have internal wiring. So I have to run video line externaly. This limits rotation of the rig and It gets hard to judge dynamic balance. What would be the best technique to dynamic balance such a rig (besides throwing it away and getting a better one)?
