Very excited to be here and thanks for taking the time to read this! I'm relatively new to the Studio/OB industry - finishing university 2025 with a full year of industry experience between 23-24. I've forever been interested in Steadicams and stabilisers and have fortunately been able to experience using a Steadicam and am now considering it as a career path into TV/film.
I've been able to make some industry contacts so far throughout university and whilst working but I wanted to reach out to the wider community to get a better (and more broad) insight into the steadicam-specific industry that exists in the UK (and Europe) as well as Asia and any other opportunities that may exist within those regions (both film/TV including OB's and studios).
I appreciate me reaching out like this adds another potential competitor to the market in due course but at the moment I'm just looking for insights to make the best-informed decision going forward - any information you can share would be greatly appreciated!
Also advice on a good starting rig would be great too! I've done some research already but nothing beats experienced advice! Would need to be a rig suited to handling larger camera body's that are common within the live TV industry (so min. 6-7kg as an estimate?)
